Because it's their own translation. What is your point? The NIV is a dynamic equivalence, it's meant to help shed light on passages that may seem difficult to understand. It's suitable for everyone. They didn't change the KJV, they translated from an apparatus not even associated with the KJV, and in doing so have tried to make it understandable to all.
Then why change it dawg they had to get a copy rite. Oh well at least say's the cross is the only way. Paul said some preach for spite but he thanked God that the gospel was being preached.

In the NWT of Luke 2:33 we read this: "And ITS FATHER and mother continued wondering at the things being spoken about IT." In the NIV of Luke 2:33, we read the following: "The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him."
And finally, let us hear the word of God, Luke 2:33 "And JOSEPH and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken of him." (KJV)
Wow folks did you hear that? The NIV and the NWT BOTH say 'father' instead of JOSEPH. Is Joseph Jesus' father? NO!! If he were, Jesus would not be the only BEGOTTEN Son of God.

This is a classic example of how selective KJV-Onlyist are in their use of data and evidence. When material favors their position they’ll use it, but when it does not favor their position, they will make no reference to it. For example, in v. 41 of this same chapter, the KJV refers to Joseph and Mary as Jesus’ “parents.” In v. 48 (KJV) Josepeh is referred to as the “father” of Jesus, and in John 1.45 (KJV), Jesus is referred to as “the son of Joseph.”

Dawg, Read the NIV and NKJV the ASB and all the other B's. Refer it back to KJ and the Strongs and you will find that the KJ is more accurate. But I know that most will not take the time and why I refer to it as the New Idiot Version. Dawg. Compare it to the dead sea scrolls. If you have time.
I read Greek, and I use much better tools than Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. Just because you own a concordance does not mean you are able to read the language, because concordances are not Greek grammar books, and do not teach you even elementary Greek syntax.

Again, there are different apparatus' used. You cannot even compare the KJV to the NIV, because they are not translated from the same source material.

Wow dawg your smart. I bow down to you. But, you are so smart that you have not referenced the NiV. I am just an old boy. But I know the difference. The dead sea scrolls line up with the KJ or have you had time to the research. I thank the NIV because uneducated people have the gospel. But if you want the real word we must go back to the hebrew and greek. That is what the translators did under King James. Yes they made a few errors. but it was ordained by the Holy Spirit and not for profit as your New Idiot Version was. Dawg

Look man, as smart as you is. Find some investors to rewrite Moby Dick or the Catcher and the rye. You could make millions. Put in modern day language or wait this is the bomb rewrite Romeo and juliet and call Romeo Dawg. Wait you can'y do that with out changing the story can you. But your smart maybe you can fudge it just a bit and get by.

So because I use a niv version I am an idiot then? because I am not able to learn or read Hebrew or greek, too much brain damage. and the kjv is sometimes to complicated for me to understand, but I say this as humbly as I can- you can go around claiming how the KJV is the real deal and others aren't, but in my opinion I think you have made your belief so strong about the preferred Bible you use that it made you blind. Whether you like it or not the word of God is the word of God, so I am afraid you are going to have to deal with us idiots and our new idiot versions

I deal with Idiots all the time. My friend my brother, If you want the true word of God read The KJ. Its the only translation that does not have corporate America behind it. I call it as I see it. Said the world series umpire. If you base your word of God on corporate America and give to their profit. Then you are an idiot. Read the King James and read the true word of God. I'm sorry brother but that is the truth. The NIV was produced for profit and nothing else. Just like the living and amplified bible. They saw away to make millions and idiots bought it.

where is the proof that the niv is for profit or otherwise corrupted? poeple like bart erman says the whole bible is corrupted beyond repair so that would include the kjv.

I see... well here is how I determine who is right here. Now don't get me wrong I am sure you mean well and as far as I am concerned you are no thorn in my side but to be honest the fruit of the spirit is what I check in people and myself when it comes to these things. Now my bible taught me to love others and treat them as I would be treated. I sought after a loving relationship with God and sought for a heart that loves and cares for people as he does. and he has been answering this prayer for a while now. I am not there yet but I see people differently, I care for people I have never met before even though it is contrary to human nature. Now if your bible version was indeed the right one why do I not see love in your posts? you call people idiots, I call them beloved brothers and sisters. I realize peoples limitations so I do all I can to help them, even if they are satanic I love them dearly because I know how precious they are to our lord. this is what my NiV bible has taught me

Who made the NIV. Investors and what do investors want..... Profit. Who invested in the KJ. The KING and wanted no profit except that common people could read the word of God. What other translation can say that. none. Do you realise the cost of making a NIV or other B. That cost is recouped by idiots buying it. Enough said.

The Reformed Reader introduction to the geneva bible for the historic Baptist faith.

To such individuals as James and his mother, Mary, the "divine right of kings" meant that since a king's power came from God, the king then had to answer to no one but God. This lack of responsibility extended to evil kings. The reasoning was that if a king was evil, that was a punishment sent from God. The citizens should then suffer in silence. If a king was good, that was a blessing sent from God.

This is why the Geneva Bible annoyed King James I. The Geneva Bible had marginal notes that simply didn't conform to that point of view. Those marginal notes had been, to a great extent placed in the Geneva Bible by the leaders of the Reformation including John Knox and John Calvin. Knox and Calvin could not and cannot be dismissed lightly or their opinions passed off to the public as the mere dithering of dissidents.

First, notes such as, "When tyrants cannot prevail by craft, they burst forth into open rage," (Note i, Exodus 1:22) really bothered King James
...
James ascended the English throne in 1603. He wasted no time in ordering a new edition of the Bible in order to deny the common people the marginal notes they so valued in the Geneva Bible. That James I wasn't going to have any marginal notes to annoy him and lead English citizens away from what he wanted them to think is a matter of public record.
...
In their New Testament translation, the King James "translators" didn't even revise and compare. What they did was simply copy – almost word for word - William Tyndales' 1525 New Testament.

I'm just an old boy, your point is what?
Your statement is false. There were already Bibles available that the common people could read, James wanted his own translation to support his political power, to his profit.

who profited from the living bible, who profited from the amplified, who profits from the message bible, who profits from the NASB, who profits from any of the others. answer the investors and took the money of the poor sapsuckers that bought it. A fool and his money will soon be parted that's the King James talking.

Just so we're clear, EVEN IF I accepted that everyone who puts money into publishing the NIV was a greedy swindler (which I don't, but let's pretend for the sake of argument), that tells us precisely nothing about whether the NIV is a worthwhile translation, which is what this thread is about.

I was going to bed, but I had to come back and say this. As smart as we have become I mean smarter than man at any other time. Why do we not have a translation that shows each and every verse as it pertains to the hebrew and the greek. Certainly we are smart enough to do that or are our we. Is there any profit in that. I mean we have puters now that can do stuff. Guess there is no profit in it.

There are study Bibles and interlinears and things like that, if that's what you mean. I have a couple myself. But they tend to be much bigger and they cost more to put together, and not everyone needs or wants something like that, so they don't get printed as much as just the biblical english texts. Kind of like some of the difference between the annotated Geneva bibles and the Authorized version, which as I recall was mostly published without notes. . But they're out there if you want them.
