Yes, God is one (Deut. 6:4) "Hear oh Israel, the Lord our God is one."

Yes, God is two, only n a manner of speaking whenin this verse (John 14:9) "Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father".

Yes, God is three :

a) Jesus is God (John 1:1) " In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
b) The Father is God (Eph. 4:6) "One God and one Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
c) The Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3,4) '...why have you lied to the Holy Spirit.... You have not lied to men, but to God".

Seems obvious to me! Though God being is considered one in three.

Is God only one God? Is God two? God and Holy Spirit Is God three? God, Son and Holy Spirit

This thread should not cause problems, name calling, sarcasm.... Please do not post any of it.

God is not a God of confusion. His Word should be enough for this topic.

This must be the most debated topic on this site, with much of the information repeated.

A person truly searching needs to know what the Bible says, without man's comments on what they mean.

Can anyone do this? Take this CHALLENGE and LET THE SCRIPUTURES speak.

Do not add any comment to the scriptures. If you need to do this please go one of the many other threads and post your comment.

Use any Bible translation without additional comments as to what the scripture means.

Do not add any links.

Please use one single scripture or a continuous set (ie John 1:1 as one or John 1:1-1:18 as a set.

JUST PUT YOUR FAVORITE SCRIPTURE SUPPORTING YOUR BELIEF THAT ANYONE CAN UNDERSTAND WITHOUT BEING TOLD WHICH GOD IS.

This should be fun and easy if your beliefs are solid.

"The foremost precept of all is: Hear, Israel! the Lord our God is one Lord." (Mark 12:29)
Jesus is Lord
if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Rom 10:9 ESV)

and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Php 2:11 ESV)

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Col 3:17 ESV)

For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day. (Mat 12:8 KJV)

II Corinthians 13:14 “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

Romans 8:11, 16-17, 26-29 “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you….16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him….26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.”

I Corinthians 2:1-5, 14-16 “And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling,4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God….14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”

I Corinthians 12:3-6 “Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.”

II Corinthians 3:3-6
“And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.4 Such is the confidence that we have through Christ toward God.5 Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,6 who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

Ephesians 1:17
“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,”

Ephesians 3:1-6, 14-19 “For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles2 assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you,3 how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly.4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ,5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel….14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Ephesians 4:3-7, 30-32
“eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift….30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Ephesians 5:18-21
“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

Ephesians 6:10-11, 16-18 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil…16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,”

I do not have time to list all the Scriptures that show God the Father, Jesus the Son our Lord and the Holy Spirit, so will post afew more then stop.

Hebrews 2:3-4
“how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,4 while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.”

Hebrews 6:1-4 “Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2 and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.3 And this we will do if God permits.4 For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit,”

Hebrews 9:14 “how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.”

Hebrews 10:12-16 “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,”

I Peter 1:2
“according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.”

Revelation 19-10:
“I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet”

He is every Word or Number that a human can realize in this state of the life that we have
been given, but, oh yes,
He is much More than we can ever imagine right now, or even try to come up with...

Is God only one God? Is God two? God and Holy Spirit Is God three? God, Son and Holy Spirit...
Are you trying to solve the Mystery of God, or are you trying to accept the fact of the Mystery of God?

If the former, you will never succeed, since God is not man. If the latter, then you can consider yourself a genuine Christian.

What if God is BOTH one and three? Is that going to be a problem for you?

But what if ordinary mathematics says that 1 x 1 x 1 = 1 and 1 +1 +1 = 3?

So just believe this Scripture, and refuse to believe every lie that claims it is not Scripture.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (1 John 5:7 KJB only).
