Please excuse these interruptions to the Bible trivia thread  I found the full length version of Jason Upton song you posted, Lafftur :D It is just over 13 minutes long! o_O But I really like it. It is so soothing, and I appreciate the positive message  Sometimes in the music threads I will start listening to music other people have posted, and I usually know right away whether I like it or not. I will even skip forward if it does not grab me right away to see if the offering becomes more uplifting... this one... grabbed me right away :)

Question: Is the following literal or symbolic? If symbolic, how so?

Rev. 22:4 "and they shall see his face; and his name shall be on their foreheads."
Great question!!!

I am eager to know the answer and how the conclusion was drawn.

According to Yeshua/Jesus, how did Peter know who Yeshua/Jesus was?
That is easy, the Spirit of God aka HS. :D
Nope. Yeshua/Jesus said His Father revealed it to Peter. But, of course the Father reveals things by His Holy Spirit......:love:(y)

(I have always been surprised by what Yeshua/Jesus said.......it's in Matthew 16:17.)

Matthew 16:13-17 King James Version (KJV)
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Hahaha... you caught me on that one. Cherish it, it doesn't happen often.

Rev. 22:4 "and they shall see his face; and his name shall be on their foreheads."
My guess would be.......... BOTH - literal and symbolic.

Here are the references to names in foreheads:

Rev. 3:12 "Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name." Not forehead here, but still upon them.

Rev. 7:3 "Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads." I think this is just gathering them.

Rev. 14:1 "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads."

Rev. 22:4 "And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads."

Here is a different mark:

Rev. 13:16 "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:"

Rev. 20:4 "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years."

Now, put it together. Real or symbolic?

Here are some interesting scriptures relating to our subject:

Exo. 13:16 "And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt."

Deu. 6:8 "And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes."

Deu. 11:18
"Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes."

With all these references, I believe the Protestants Reformers were right as most were Idealist. They believe the mark is symbolic. I think some , or maybe most, also left room for a Futurist view. Below is Wikipedia's rundown on each. You decide for yourself.

Idealist view[edit]
Idealism, also known as the allegorical or symbolic approach, is an interpretation of the book of Revelation that sees the imagery of the book as non-literal symbols.[51]

The idealist perspective on the number of the beast rejects gematria, envisioning the number not as a code to be broken, but a symbol to be understood. Idealists would contend that because there are so many names that can come to 666 and that most systems require converting names to other languages or adding titles when convenient, it has been impossible to come to a consensus. Given that numbers are used figuratively throughout the book of Revelation, idealists interpret this number figuratively as well. The common suggestion is that because seven is a number of completeness and is associated with the divine, that six is incomplete and the three sixes are "inherently incomplete".[52] The number is therefore suggestive that the Dragon and his beasts are completely inadequate. Another suggestion is that this number represents an individual's incomplete or immature spiritual state.[53]

Futurist view[edit]
A futurist view of the mark of the beast is that the rise of a supranational currency (for example, the euro) could be a hallmark of the End Times and that the mark of the beast will be a sign on the forehead or on the right hand.[54] Futurists (focused on the future) believe that the Revelation addresses primarily the Second Coming of Christ and similar events at the time's end (1:7; 19:11–16; 22:11–12). Although many do find truth in these general assertions, this view does not take into account all historical views. (Ch. 2–5; 12:5–16).[55]

Religious difficulties with a world currency currently exist. According to the futurist view, to overcome the extant difficulties the Antichrist will use forced religious syncretism[56] (i.e. amalgamations of different religions in the name of counterterrorism and world economic stability) to enable the creation of the currency. Some interpret the mark as a requirement for all commerce to mean that the mark might actually be an object with the function of a credit card, such as RFID microchip implants.[57] In Christianity, some believe the implantation of chips may be the imprinting of the mark of the beast, prophesied to be a requirement for all trade,[58]and a precursor to the events of the second half of the Book of Revelation.[59][60]
