I was reading this matt 5 13 You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
I am just wondering what that passage means and would like some input ? Am I on the right way of thinking that we should think about what kind of witness I am being ? I am trying to learn I really would like to learn to be more like Christ ..
So please feel free to reply ... God bless and thank you

Hi Yahweh_is4me,

You are spot on Yahweh_is4me :) .

''As salt is beneficial in a number of ways (as a preservative, seasoning etc), so are the disciples of Jesus who influence the world.'' ESV Study Bible note on salt in this text.

It goes onto say you are the light of the world, you have the kingdom life inside you as a living testimony to those in the world who do not yet have the light in them.

Blessings

Phil

Believers are the "salt of the earth". As Phil said; salt is both a preservative and a seasoning. Salt enhances or even changes the flavor of food. Since we don't want to "preserve" the world as it is, we must see ourselves as a seasoning. We must look for ways and opportunities to change the world around us, in order to make it better.

I had a fellow minister who shared a prophetic word of knowledge for me. He shared it with me and I immediately received a word for him. I asked him about his dream and he told me that his dream
told him that his dream was to be an evangelist and to preach to thousands of people at once (like Billy Graham). I then shared my word for him by telling him that he would share the gospel with thousands but that he would do it one person at a time. This was in 2001; the last I heard from a mutual friend was that he was witnessing to thousands of people individually and leading hundreds of people to the Lord.

The point of this is He is changing the world around him in a positive way. He is definitely the salt of his world.

In Christ,
John

Hi yahweh_is4me,
We are so insulated in western countries. I live in Australia. I have not travelled very much but I did spend 5 years living in Thailand. Then you notice the difference. A huge difference and Jesus Christ is the difference. Even playing cards, the dealer deals to himself first. Self is above and before all things and their security is in networking. Demons are common and in Thailand Bribery and corruption in all its forms is inbuilt into the fabric of society. My wife who is Thai applied for a job as a buyer for a large company. In her application she claimed her commission on sales at 10%. Even the poorest workers pay bribes to the local police. I imagine it is for their protection. Maybe you have seen recently on television the riots in Thailand between the red shirts and the government. This is the former PM wanting to be PM again. This person before being a politician, was a lowly paid policeman. They supplement their wages by fines like traffic offences and littering etc. You just pay the policeman instead of being fined and taking the paperwork (not yet written out) to the office. The fine is a part of his wages. Well this policeman, became PM and is now a multi billionaire (in US dollars)
You are the salt of the earth. You season those with whom you come into contact by acting in a loving humble (meek)manner. Your life is not aggressive or antagonistic but patient, waiting on our Lord to move you forward. HE will if you rest in him instead of using your own strength and faculties. Living as Jesus did, and I do not mean pushing Jesus down everyone's throat but by being an example is how we grow in Him. Actions not words. Please do not start comparing your walk against another's walk. We have our own path. Yes there is a central commonality but from there the branches shoot out. Don't be envious or proud, just give thanks and don't give up.

more love- more salt is the flavor-- absolutely right yahweh_4me, its all about being a witness for Jesus, ambassodors of Christ.
by this they will know that we are His disciples, that we love one another as Christ Jesus has loved us.

no love, no salt, no flavour - yuk
