Merry Christmas to all.........

I find it paradoxical that most of the folks who say do not celebrate Christmas because it is a sin and pagan seem to be unavailable on Christmas Day. Of course there are a lot of unbelievers who observe the holiday aspect of the date..

People are just being silly.

Yes Christmas has religious meanings, pagan roots, and secular ties, but as long as you celebrate the aspects of the holiday you want then it is your day. Others can choose to celebrate other aspects of the holiday.

Merry Christmas

John 1:1-4, 14
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Thank You, Father, for making Your Word flesh for us.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for tabernacling with us.

Thank you, Jack, for these lovely threads.
I know you don't celebrate as many do, but I wish you a heart full of joy at what the Lord has done for us.
(I see it there already. ♥)

love to you!

It doesn't matter when Jesus was born. All that really matters is that He was, thank God!

May God bless you JaumeJ, doseofreality, psychomom, and everyone else who sees this post.

I enjoy the time off the government and the company I work for provided. I think I know the original meaning of the word Christmas so I wouldn't say merry because for me (I must emphasize for me and me only) it's blasphemous and offensive. Have a happy holiday season regardless.
Let's see how many will be available tomorrow.

the eymologies I have consulted concur Christmas is a compound word composed of Christ and Mass. So it could be called The Anointed's Table. It is clearly intended to honor Yeshua. I find nothing even approaching brasphemy in wishing people a Merry Christmas, but, my research, believe it or not, could be totally erroneous, so let me know...

Actually, there was a time here in England when the secular and religious celebration of Christmas was outlawed as a pagan practice. That was when the Puritans ruled England. In the Massachusetts Bay Colony in North America, the Puritans who left England because of their beliefs also banned Christmas and imposed fines for merrymaking during this season.

Saying merry christmas fulfills prophesies

Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Rev 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
Rev 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
Rev 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Rev 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
Rev 11:9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
Rev 11:10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
Rev 11:11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
Rev 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
Rev 11:13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
Rev 11:14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
Rev 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

The worldly churches who love gifts and celebration crucified the old and new testaments and put them to death
but God will bring up a people who will bring the two witnesses old and new testament back to life
and the celebrators will become afraid...
and the children who believe the Bible will come back...
and then then earthquake

Hello brother J, I wish everyone a blessed and glorious day in which the Lord has made. He has made them all and each new day is a gift to spend as we choose. I have just recently discovered the history of Christmas and have read much about its beginning and how it has become what it is today. For years now I've been deeply troubled about how Christ has been far removed from most celebrations, and now I have answers as to why. If for reason only that I choose not to participate because of the sinful nature of selfishness and worship of pagan objects, alone that would give me pause. But it is an empty day to me now if I try and put Christ back where Christ never was to begin with. However far be it from me to wish anyone anything other than love and hope in our Lord, and would have said nothing except your post ask where was I?

Just so you know I was Roman Catholics and I know what "mass" is about. Sorry

I know here in Spain mass is misa, and it is taken from the word, table, keeping me far from anything Catholic in my understanding of the word, Christmas.

Having said this, I understand what you are saying implicitely. Living in a Catholic country I see a lot, but at the same time I close my eyes to much. In evil times the prudent will be silent.

I find it paradoxical that some who say they are Christians are so keen to exercise judgement.

I've noticed that. Seems as though professing Christians are more hateful, toward one another, than non Christians when it comes to doctrinal differences. Non-Christians don't have any doctrine based on the Bible, and we find it not unusual to get along with them better than some who are of the faith. Just think how the ones who are sincere in trying to find the truth, and their reaction when they see this division between these most Biblically educated, and divisive individuals. There is a way to disagree without labels, and condemning phases, and that's not saying "we agree to disagree." Hope this is taken as a loving exhortation to all that might fall into that category. I have been guilty as well.

God help us all, and thank you for bringing your dear Son to us on His birthday, no matter what month of the year it was. We commemorate this reality on this holiday/holy day and have set aside this 25th day as a holy Christmas day.
