AHHHHH A good trick question.....many will cite Galatians and say 430 years.....but the 430 years covers Abraham dwelling in Canaan.....

In Galatians 3:17, Paul reveals that the four hundred and thirty years of sojourning extended from the year that God established His covenant with Abraham while he was sojourning in Canaan to the year of the release of his descendants from bondage in Egypt and the giving of the law at Mt. Sinai.

There are the accounts from Genesis, Exodus, Acts, Galatians, and even Josephus seems to have his own idea .. 210 years (are there others?)

Can we choose more than one instead? ;)

If only one guess is possible, then my guess is 430 years (but I'd have to find my notes from many years ago to remember why that number comes to mind as the one that is most likely accurate).

"To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified. Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring"

"Ratification" occurred to the "offspring" Jacob Genesis 46 just as Jacob is at the border ready to enter Egypt. The 430 years Paul is referring to is undoubtedly the 430 year sojourn.....

All other theories fail and fail miserably....

The Acts 13 of the KJV is the proper reading using best manuscripts....
The time of the Judges up to Samuel/Saul is undoubledly 450 years give or take 5 years or so....

"Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience. 17The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it. 18And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness. 19And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot. 20And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet. 21And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years. Sorry but that is a misapplication of this verse. What this verse is telling us is that the time from the Abrahamic Covenant to the Old Covenant given on Mount Sinai was 430 years.

But God made it clear to Abraham in that covenant that the Israelites would be in Egyptian bondage for 400 years. Two different things.

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; (Gen 15:13)

It cant be from the time of initial giving of the covenant when Abraham was 75 y.o. This date totals 625 years. No.....it must be the ratification of the covenant with Jacob just before they entered Egypt. Nothing else works.

I'm not into playing games with God's word but, out of curiosity, why is no one mentioning Exodus 12:40, 41 where it kinda tells us straight out?

Exodus 12:40 KJV Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
Exodus 12:41 KJV And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

Gen 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years.

Exo 12:40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
Exo 12:41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

Exo 1:8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
Exo 1:9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
Exo 1:10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
Exo 1:11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

The Bible says they were in were in Egypt 430 years, 30 years not afflicted, and 400 years afflicted.

I'd not considered the aspect of afflicted vs. unafflicted years. Good job!

I did see you say it here:
Undoubtedly 430 years to the very day.
I assumed you were saying it because of Exodus 12:40,41 but without the reference I wasn't sure.
