The gospel is presented in many different ways around the world but what happens after its given and people put their hands up or go down the front?
"God loves you so much he sent his son who died for u, you can be his child and be saved all you have to do is accept christ as your lord and savioir and you have eternal life"
MMM is that all its about and what are we missing-specially here in the western world where it has been said that the way its presented is plastic.Is ithere a hard gospel a truth that when heard it hurts and to make the choice is something huge-absoloutly life changing.
I have been really challenged this weekend and it scares the crap out of me and its a good thing-i have excepted christ, i belive i have been given a gift and that i am 4given*s* and i know that i fall short but i always get back up again.
Repentance isnt just about using words isnt it about totolly turning the other way-and letting go of all woldly ways i mean i know we arnt perfect and our salvation is a process as well as jesus does his renovations on us on a daily basis-and we have to let him, but then what about matthew 22:11-14-isi it talking about us christians?
We are supposed to die on a daily basis, to let go of what the world has to offer completly to the point where it can seem painful and only rely on Jesus but these are just words.
This race we are running, the death we are supposed to experiance and transformation thats supposed to take place sounds awsome and frightening but if its not just about saying i belive in you jesus and going to church and make some changes in our lives then i wanna see it and i really wanna live it. Livivng in comfy oz land i have to much, i am to comfy and the stories i hear from china and africa seem like a fantasy- u know the ones where they give up all and are willing to do watever it takes to let go of everything except for jesus.

Amen my friend! Passive christianity only leads to complacency over time in my opinion.

4given30, agree with you 100%. The link is to a video on youtube I've seen/heard about 4 or 5 times now. It's a message that really needs to be preached here in America where people would rather hear words of comfort than words of conviction. It's a message about what it truly means to be saved and living a life of holiness pleasing to God. I would recommend this video to anyone and have actually send it to all on my email address. Hope you take the time to check it out. God bless!

What would be good is comfort with our conviction. To tell people what they need to do to tap into God.

James said in his letters: ''Weep and Wail you sinners...turn your Joy to Gloom, purify your hearts'.

Some people need to seek God so that He can imprint on their hearts the true gospel and not the gospel of riches, perpetual pleasure, laughter, and cattle on hill after hill.

Between ***BIG*** lies about the way of God and people stubbornly refusing to accept the humble truth which saves, this church is in a conundrum.

See I think we risk doing two things wrong when preaching the gospel.

First we can preach the gospel in such a way that we make our walk with God sound like it's just about sitting in a corner, praying, reading your Bible and evangelizing.

Second we can preach the gospel in such a way that we make it look like God saved us so we can have a practical purpose on this Earth, but we ignore the real issues of sin and salvation.

The first error neglects the truth that God gave us real rules for living and prospering while living on this Earth. (By prosper I mean living with what we need and with some of our wants met too, but not to the point of hording things.)

The second error focuses just on finding a purposes and getting stuff. And when this error is the main focus we get the American version of watered down Gospel.

I've heard many preachers guilty of committing the first error preaching things like, "God's not going to care about your bank account or your purpose in life when you get to heaven, all he's going to care about is if you know Jesus."

Now platitudes like this sound very spiritual, but anyone who has read the Bible knows that God cares very much about how we use what he's given us on this Earth.

So I guess if you find yourself ranting against shallow Gospels, make sure you're not guilty of error number one first.

John 12:25 - The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

I finally explained it the right way to this lady I was talking to earlier. Light is better than dark and the way of Wisdom (Proverbs) is better than the way of folly. I think here, you have two ways contrasted and will extend it to mean one is the way of life and the other leads to destruction.

I live a higher quality life than sinners do. Less-risk taking, greater joy at Christ's daily salvations than their paydays, deeper peace, I enjoy my meals and could celebrate over a cup of soup and some crackers. I have better perspective on money than most, and have been given wisdom that blesses my life.

I live a better life than sinners and you see this when you talk to sinners and hear about their dysfunction and the death in their lives.

The first lie is that sin is sweet. Sin is like a prostitute, fair to look at, but inside...........***be godly with your imaginations***.

The truth is that not only has God given us all that we need to live godly lives in Christ, but we are overcomers.

Why I always bag on the doctrine of sweet is because of the fruit. It never produces the Apostolic or Prophetic. All the sweet things keep people looking forward to earthly things rather than heavenly things. The suffering and the poor have perspective on heavenly things because they have little in this world.

That is not saying that I do not leave an opening for living in health and prospering on this earth, but if you do, you see the proverbial Ishmaels and Cains. The godly in Christ will be persecuted and honestly, the more godly (truly godly and not carnal), the more you will be buffeted by sin around you leading to you 'hating' your life.

I'll extend it one step further and do semantics: while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. The verse almost says: there is nothing wrong with prospering and having good health, but the one that hates his life on this earth and will constitently chose things eternal over things carnal, i.e. leave a job because it contradicts with his faith, or cut back time at work to spend time with kids because He wants to raise up goldy offspring rather than buy a boat.

The Bible is one complete book.

i mean i know we arnt perfect and our salvation is a process

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." John 5:24

Salvation is NOT a process.......It is something obtained(a present possession), NOT attained, as the Scriptures declare. Discipleship and working on getting our lives together with Christ is EVIDENCE of saving faith., not a requirement for salvation! Repentance is turning from UNBELIEF to BELIEF in the Savior for salvation and forgiveness. I wrote a thread on "Biblical Repentance"...."shall not come into condemnation" does not read "shall not come into condemnation if......" it reads exactly what it says.....It means that the penalty of sin will never be IMPUTED on you again. Christians are dealt as sons and believe me there are disobedient sons, but he will chastise his children(Hebrews 12:5-7) You can never work hard enough to get saved or remain saved......Our works are as FILTHY rags compared to the Holiness/perfection of God(Isaiah 64:60).

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Romans 4:5

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" Titus 3:5

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

Where does the Word say faith and works get anyone saved? The substance of our faith concerning the Word is JESUS CHRIST!

Yes, we must tell sinners WHY they need a Savior(because of their sins, and the roadway to the lake of fire), but to add works to the gospel is heresy. Christians are ALL called to discipleship which is our reasonable service to God(Romans 12:1, Ephesians 2:10).

hi all
Peace to you brethrin
John the baptist started preaching the gospel of repentance shortly before Jesus started as it was his job to prepare the way before the lord.He started by saying;The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together;
John preaching;
Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
brethrin dont forget the warning left by John here to repent of selfishness,for we do wait for the lord again.

Jesus fortold in isiah
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
In mathew chapter 4,16
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

I sujest reading here and asking with prayer for revelation on the meaning

In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

Its not so important to notice what others arnt doing.But more important to work on your own salvation.relationship with God.We are not of this world just passing gests.
