Really there are no good people..
Everyone has fallen short of the glory of God
Someone could do a few good deeds and yet still swear.. or not swear.. but sleep around.. or not sleep around but spend too much.. or not spend too much but abuse.. or not etc etc etc..
No way people can measure up to God's standard of good
That's why we are made right by God... and not by our own efforts
The problem:
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
1John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
James 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
The good news:
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.
