Would an oasis still be an oasis if it were moved into the middle of a jungle, or would it become just another ordinary plot?

We are to be like an oasis surrounded by dry barren land on every side. That is our calling, and that is how God can use us best. Heaven will come soon enough, but for now we must be willing to be set apart from the rest of the world.

(Matt 5:11-14)
Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

hey ~ I thought this was worth noting

I looked up oasis and found this as part of the definition on wikipediea:

Oases are formed from underground rivers or aquifers such as an artesian aquifer, where water can reach the surface naturally by pressure or by man-made wells

so then, agreeing that an oasis is as you say water in the desert, and then post #2, a well of water springing up, combine the 2 and it makes me think of the Holy Spirit springing up in us and being the oasis in this dry world

that's what I thought of anyway

thought it was interesting that when you physically define the properties of the oasis and how they occur, you kind of come up with a spiritual application

pretty sure that is not an accident

Amen, what a wonderful insight God has shown to you. It gives us a double blessing when He shows us these kinds of things. Just to think that He likes to talk to us, and then to be able to share it with our brothers and sisters. Thank you so much. God bless you.

Wow. that is great!

It makes me also think of being attached to the vine, Water comes through the vine, give life and power to the branch, and then fruit is produced.
