I feel it necessary to expose and to warn the body of Christ of a hidden danger lurking in some of the books many Christians may have read or wanted to read. First of all, I am in no position to judge or to condemn anything....But I do have a duty as Christian who loves to Lord, to expose anything that may be harmful to the Christian community.

I suggest you look at an autobiography of a former witch(David J Meyer) who was heavily involved in witchcraft and has lots of inside info about what he fled from. See his testimony directly below(2 links):

http://www.lasttrumpetministries.org/docs/aboutdjm.html
http://www.lasttrumpetministries.org/tracts/tract10.html

The books/series/movie he warns about are the following:

Lord of the Rings- http://www.lasttrumpetministries.org/tracts/tract11.html
Harry Potter- http://www.lasttrumpetministries.org/tracts/tract7.html
Passion of the Christ- http://www.lasttrumpetministries.org/tracts/tract12.html

He has other tracts which are quite interesting. But again, I must ask you to pray that the Holy Spirit will discern for you the truth....I feel a heavy burden to expose many things I feel the devil has confused/deceived many Christians....I was deceived too for a long time about such things as the Chronicles of Narnia, etc......

Read the article I wrote about "why many are deceived by satan" and you will quickly see that that world ALWAYS props up and promotes things that are FAR from God.....For example, most of the world promoted these books and yet we are told what the world is to God!!!

In fact:
"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. "

Oh how I wish I could have loved the Lord so much more that the world would see it like a lamp on a stand! The world would HATE me for it.....Because who they are REALLY rejecting is the Son. It's very logical. The world does not know God. It gravitates towards unrighteousness. So just observe what the mainstream is telling you right now! I can guarantee that it is NOT of God....Or that they have some truth mixed with error.......All Christians had formally followed the things of this world(Ephesians 2:1-2) before they placed faith in Jesus!(our new desire is to follow the Lord, not the world)

"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." 2 Corinthians 4:4

I understand that many will disagree with me on this. And that some may even hate me for it. But I wasn't called to be popular among men but to follow God. When something doesn't stand to Scripture, I will expose it. I refuse to compromise the Word over anything. In matters of the occult, I pray you let the Holy Spirit discern what is true and what is a lie....Because America for example, is saturated in the occult more than most realize. God gave us a PERFECT way to preach the gospel. And we start by taking a stand against SIN and wickedness(ie: things of this world), and shining the light of the glorious gospel!!! Amen.

This guy David Meyers is too much fixated on the occult that he has to go to great lengths to expose it , even in the Passion of the Christ. His background as an occultist has given him a knowledge of evil which the average christian simply doesn't have. He still uses his knowledge of evil to expose really trivial things in these great christian literatures (minus Harry Potter) , catholic or not.
Far from the Passion of the Christ being a "deadly abomination" as he claims, it was actually a great evangelistic tool used to bring a number of people to Christ. I don't know what gets this guy David Meyers excited, who feels it is his duty to expose everything and claims he has the "true Gospel" , whatever that means. Personally I just think he hasn't left his awareness of the occult which is the problem why he seems to see it behind every corner. Christians should focus on the good not the evil, unfortunately he focusses on the evil.

I don't know about passion of Christ.
When I watched it, I felt incredibly blessed.
Honest to you all, I am one of the people who always slept over the 'epic' bible movies .

PoC is one of the film that make me glued to the screen.
On top of that, tears keep falling from my eyes seeing what my savior went through for us.
(and, the movie is just probably illustrate half the brutality of what actually went on that day).
To call it an abomination? I am not so sure....

After that movie, I become more passionate in serving Christ.
Idk.. if it was truly satan's project, he's doing a horrible job since it made me grew closer to God.

I've seen Ben-Hur at least six times! And I have yet to fall asleep during it.

Wait, does Ben-Hur count as a "bible movie?"

I know of many who used Passion of the Christ for good.....(ie:more excited for Christ).....But I did notice some bad aspects to the movie....Research the actors behind Passion of the Christ...And that will give you a better idea....

David J Meyer EXPOSES the evil....He does not fixate on it......It is his duty and mine as a Christian to expose works of satan(whatever they are)....Saying to just focus on the good of something that is mixed with evil and good is a fallacy. It's like saying to a patient in the hospital that he has a cancerous growth, but we'll just focus on the good part of him...

David J Meyer is being used by God to expose works of satan and evil in our society, because he once was dabbled in the occult.....I know the reason why so many Christians are deceived by good sounding things in culture....They are not discerning the Holy Spirit warning them of hidden dangers behind such books for example....But as Jesus said in prophecy, satan has made his home in the church today in almost every corner.....And many dont even realize it....I for one am tired of lackidaisical lukewarm Christians who are just going along with the world! And when I warn them of something(ie: Harry Potter), the typical response is "you are a nut to believe that" or "that just couldnt be true"......Too many are prideful to even realize such things are happening around them......Like why is it so hard to comprehend that the world glorifies things like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings when the Lord says otherwise about the world? Too many Christians are supporting works of darkness and they dont even realize it. If a Christian was GROUNDED in Scripture he would immediately be suspicious about "things of the world"....

But like I've said before...Pride is a killer.....When I come to God in pride I might as well not even approached Him to begin with. Pride is a KILLER of discernment of things that are right(Psalm 25:9, Psalm 138:6, Proverbs 8:13, Proverbs 11:2, Proverbs 15:33). If Christians would start HATING sin, not just disliking it, but HATING it, there would be more opportunities to share the Gospel.

roaringkitten in your original post you stated you wanted to expose anything harmful to the christian community. You then proceed to give some websites from Meyers, about movies which I don't recall harming anyone...only in the mind of David Meyers. Well sure those people who got saved from watching the passion of the Christ sure had a lot of harm done to them? It would be good if the evil was exposed without the exaggerations , sensationalism, and false information being spread around. Meyers is just one of many internet websites that split hairs and strain gnats. So it isn't cutting out cancerous growths from a patient, that is an extreme exaggeration, this is more like cutting off a harmless wart with a flame-thrower.

We are to be as ignorant of evil as possible (Rom 16:19), not be taught about it lurking under every corner and every movie which is what Meyers is doing. I've watched LOR and the Passion and never saw anything occult or evil in it (apart from the evils portrayed in the movies), simply because I'm not looking for it and it's not obviously there. Obviously Meyers still has an awareness of the occult because everything he sees he sees the evil in it instead of the good. Exposing evil is not what Christ commanded. But to preach the Gospel. The Passion of the Christ was one way to spread the Gospel.

David Meyer's claims that Monica who played Mary Magdelene is a "well known Hollywood hardcore porn star". That is simply untrue. Even if she was, so a porn star played Mary in the Passion? So what, who cares? A prostitute in the bible called Mary Magdelene wiped Jesus's feet with her hair, what does Meyers think about that? Digging up Monica's past, if true, is gossip really. And David Meyers should know what God says about that.

Please quote some bible verses where Christ commanded His disciples to expose evil. In fact any from Paul etc would do as well.

"Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?" Psalm 94:16

We use the law to point people to Christ. We have to tell people why they need a Savior! It's not because they are good, its because we have all SINNED before God! Exposing evil is something every Christian should do when they see it....Why? Because when I see someone going into a trap by the evil one, I dont just sit there and watch him fall in.....I made it a point that exposing evil give us the opportunity to share the gospel to the unsaved, and to watch over each other as brothers/sisters in Christ..

Only in the mind of David J Meyers? So my mind does not count? And I know a number of other people who have a problem with that particular movie?

And no, the list contained ONE movie and a few books series. Not "movies" like you said I wrote.....

You can disagree with me, Im ok with that...........

re: exposing evil when they see it
You say we should expose evil, but have you been able to find any bible verses where Jesus told his disciples to go and expose evil? I had a look at couldn't find any. There may be one verse in the new testament I can'tremember where it is about exposing evil, but I don't think that is part of the Great Commission.

How do you explain the contradiction between a person going and seeing the passion of the Christ for example and being encouraged in their faith or even wanting to become a christian, and your claim that a person is going into a trap set by the evil one?

How many christians who have seen LOR etc come out of the movies wanting to be practice occultists or witches?

re: using the law
Do you have any verses from the bible that give examples of the apostles or Jesus using the law to point people to Christ?

Pointing out that the actress who played Mary for example is a hardcore hollywood porn star (which I don't think she is, I can't find any evidence of it), which the average person wouldn't know anyway who goes and sees the movie ..how is that "using the law"?

How is pointing out some obscure connection between witchraft and the catholic mystics "using the law"? see below:

note "elements of witchcraft", I think he is really struggling to find any connection ,
he quotes one review about the special effects and that's supposed to be evidence of withcraft?
He then talks about someone who keeps relics on them and that's supposed to be evidence of witchcraft?
As I said before, exaggeration, sensationalisation, hair splitting and gnat straining. That's all David Meyer's articles are.

There is also a powerful mystical side to the Mel Gibson production containing elements of witchcraft. One review said, “Flashbacks, special effects, and a sulfurous evil presence lurks throughout the film.” Jim Caviezel said, “I drew heavily on my Catholic upbringing, reread the Gospels and studied writings of Christian mystics.” Caviezel also said, “Ivan Dragicevic and his wife Lorraine gave me a piece of the true cross. I kept this on me all the time. They made a special pocket in my clothes for it. I also had relics of Padre Pio, St Anothony of Padoua, St Maria Goretti, and Saint Denisius, the patron saint of actors.”

Has this wicked nation that persists in evil crucified the Son of God afresh and put Him to an open shame? Is this dead woman being carried from a theater a sign from God? As a former occultist and witch, saved by the grace of God, I discern the evil in this Mel Gibson movie, The Passion of the Christ! It should be avoided as a deadly abomination.
So how does Meyers explain that this evil deadly abomination movie resulted in encouraging christians in their faith and even in people wanting to become christians?

Do you have any verses from the bible that give examples of the apostles or Jesus using the law to point people to Christ?

"Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." Romans 3:19-20

"Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." Galatians 3:24

According to these verses, one must have the knowledge of their sinful state(ie:using the law) to to come to Christ. Do you disagree with me on this?

Romans 3:19-20 might give some ideas that we can use the law in evangelism. But I was more after verses that show examples of the apostles using the law in evangelism. I don't think either verses say anything like "one must have the knowledge of their sinful state(ie:using the law) to to come to Christ."
That could be an application of those scriptures, but I still see many people saved without the law. Why ? Because the Spirit convicts you that you are a sinner with or without the law, God has given every person something called a conscience. In any case, going with the topic of this thread... pointing out problems with the movies like Meyers and yourself have done, is not using the law , is it?

This thread is directed towards Christians........In an overview statement here is what I am saying, as brothers and sisters in Christ we are to watch over each other, teach each other to live Godly lives:

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel" Ephesians 6:18-19

And to those that do not know Christ, we must preach the gospel.....And how they becoming converted is by the Holy Spirit prodding them of their sinful state. We must tell them that they are sinful in God's eyes, so that they come to the Savior. There will be those who think they are without sin:

"If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us" 1 John 1:10

Here's one: Acts 28:23 reads “And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.”

I must agree with MahogonySnail on this. David Meyer's background is causing him to see the good in the movies and the books. Because of his bias, he is not capable to see the good. He focuses and exaggerates far too much on the bad, or what he claims to be bad, that he fails to clearly see the impact of the some of the books. I sincerely believe that he needs help on his bias. When this happens, he will be able to help the christian community much more (specially with a background like his).

Well I'd like to see some evidence for how harmful these books and movies are to Christians? Is there any, eg number of christians lost their faith after watching LOR, or the number of people dropped dead after watching the Passion ?
How many have stopped belonging to a christian church and joined a Church of Frodo? How many christians became prostitutes after watching Mary Magdelene portrayed in the film?

Just a little correction to my previous post. The correction is highlighted in red.
Here's one: Acts 28:23 reads “And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.”

Cheers Rosinsky good job, that verse does seem to support the use of the law in evangelism. Whether or not that is trying to convict the person using the law, or rather trying to "persuade them about Jesus" (rather than convict of sin), I don't know. Seems to me their goal was to get them to believe in Christ, rather than be in a sorrowful state of conviction or repentance, don't know.
