Here's something to ponder.......:unsure:

There are actually 3 baptisms...... Water, Spirit, and Fire. We get fully submerged in all three.

Even planet Earth is going through the same baptisms.

Water = Noah's Flood when God made it rain 40 days and 40 nights, Earth completely submerged;
Spirit = God pouring out His Spirit on all flesh all over the entire planet Earth; and
Fire = The whole Earth will be covered with fire that consumes all flesh.

For us the three baptisms are:

Water baptism fully emerged publicly as a sign of being in covenant with Jesus Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.

Holy Spirit baptism fully emerged and filled with God's Holy Spirit.

Fire baptism fully persecuted and tried in the furnace of affliction coming out pure gold, no more flesh to contend with; we're fully and completely in love with God and filled and consumed with His Love....pure gold.
Which one of these three is the one Paul speaks of in Eph. 4:5?

Ephesians 4:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
4 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

This is the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.

I always assumed that Paul was speaking of water baptism in this verse. What makes you think its not water?

Water doesn't unite us... the Holy Spirit unites us IN Christ. Water is symbolic and a public sign of being in covenant with Christ - making the commitment.

If this is what Paul meant why did he not just write it that way.

No worries, even Peter understood that Paul's writings were hard to understand...

2 Peter 3:14-16 King James Version (KJV)
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

The Holy Spirit teaches us and opens the scriptures to us, giving us understanding. In our human reasoning we'll never understand. With a humble and seeking heart full of love for God, simply ask the Holy Spirit to give you the understanding and He will! :love:(y)

My Holy Spirit understanding tells me Paul meant water baptism in Eph. 4:5. Does this make me correct?

Unfortunately, that seems to be a common theme in the BDF. In other words, a lot of people here seem hellbent on tearing certain teachings or other members down, and there's hardly anything edifying here at all.

The reason for this could be summed up in one word:

PRIDE.
I concur. At times when someone does start a promising thread, the antis jump on like fleas to a dog

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. When He opens the scriptures and gives you understanding, there's no need to ask someone else if it is correct. You'll know. :love:(y)

I have noticed they also make a word salad on occasion. But you wouldn't know about that :whistle:
My words are rather straight forward but if you see me using a salad fork please let me know.

Hey, sometimes I need to use a pitchfork to break up the hard ground (a salad fork just doesn't cut it), but the underlying desire is always to plant good seed...

Look I am not trying to back peddle please respond to the point I made. There are not multiple Baptism. are there multiple ordinances of the church or are there two?

If you are pentecostal then you need to study more because they do not teach multiple baptisms. We teach specific One water and one of the Spirit. I was very clear and you and I can stop our conversation I was speaking to Live4him who is much more mature and less confrontational
Hey...hey...

How dare you call me mature.

:p

My point is anything over one baptism is multiple baptisms. Don't you agree?
Yes, I agree, but the Bible teaches more than one baptism, so what's the problem?

I never considered it that way.

How spiritual of you.

You are clearly right on this issue.

I bow down to your superior mindset.
