My pastor knows someone who memorized the whole Bible.

memorizing the Quran would be much easier though because it is much smaller than the Bible, only 666 verses long.

I read the Quran in less than two hours, so I couldn't figure out it could be as close to as big as the Bible, I went to Wikipedia and it said some verses in the Quran are a few words or a few letters long, it also gave many different amount of verses people think the Quran has which doesn't make sense to me. The Quran is smaller than the book of psalms. At least thats how big I remember the Quran was that I picked up and read while I was waiting for my older brother in Barnes and Nobel.

The Quran is Bigger than the New Testament ...
count the number of words, not the number of verses to be fair, and you'll see ....

But i believe the Quran to be easier to memorize than the Bible because of the Style and Poetry in wich it has been writting. Quran is Spoken Words and it has a melody.
That is why a lot of Pakistani and all non-arab people can easily memorize the Quran even thought they don't speak the arabic language in witch the Quran is. That is amazing !

As for me, at the begining of my merorization, I did not knew a lot of Arab, just the basics so I can be able to read the language, the Quran. Try to memorize a book in a language you don't even know ... you will understand that it is a bigger challenge, More thant 50 % of the Muslim community are NOT arabs

i was wondering if there is any people that memorize the whole bible. Muslim tell me that they got 10 mil people memorize their Quran.
I believe it is possible to memorize the entire bible. When I was in college, I took a religion course in which we were required to memorize the book of Mark. Using mnemonics, I was able to do it in about four weeks time using only study time allocated for that course. I realize that Mark is the shortest of the Gospels, however, over a lifetime, it would certainly be possible for someone dedicated to this purpose.

I don't see much benefit in memorizing the bible just for the sake of memorization. However, we should make every effor to be biblically literate, and at least be familiar with the major themes of all of the books. I see it all too often where people pick and choose verses to fit their bias, ignoring or ignorant of how other verses in other places of the bible, alter the context of the verses they are using in defense of their position. Many verses in different parts of the bible, which seem contradictory, are actually complementary. But unless we search diligently, searching in faith for the Truth, we will miss out on these Truths. This is how many heresies begin, and one means by which Satan deceives the "very elect".

Did pope memorize the whole bible?
Catholic seminarians are required to study the bible a minimum of three hours a day (I know this from a catholic seminarian) and it usually takes between 2 to 4 years to graduate from the seminary. That is on top of already having a college degree in liberal arts. With this in mind, I would say that the pope is extremely well-versed in the bible.

I wish I could memorize it all. The muslims also pray 5 times a day saying times each time they pray cursing Christians and the Jews is what I heard.
I hope you are not serious because you are gravely mistaken and the people you have heard it from are gravely mistaken. The pray that Muslims do five times a day is called the Salaat. You can easily find it on google. Cursing Jews and Christians is no where to be found in the Salaat.

Here is an excerpt of the Salaat.

Salaat said:
O Allah, be gracious unto Muhammad and the people of Muhammad;
As you were gracious unto Abraham and the people of Abraham.
Surely you are the Praiseworthy, the Glorious.
This is keeping in the Islamic tradition that they should be kind to the people of the "book." That is far from cursing the Jews..

I'd also like to mention that I am not a Muslim. I am Greek Orthodox but I love to study other religions which is why I know this.

There is no complete agreement on the number of verses in the Quran, but I assure you that it isn't 666.

The actual number of ayat has been a controversial issue among Muslim scholars since Islam's inception, some recognizing 6,000, some 6,204, some 6,219, and some 6,236, although the words in all cases are the same. The most popular edition of the Qur’an, which is based on the Kufa school tradition, contains 6,236 ayat

If ours was a religion of works, perhaps one could judge the validity of our faith by how few memorized the entire Bible. But it is not. There are a few who are called to be able to recite the whole Bible. There are also many, who know the Bible so well, they can find whatever is needful and answer whatever questions come with Biblical answers. There is a great difference between recitation and understanding.

Night after night in the month of Ramadan, the believers witness a unique spectacle at mosques around the world. They stand in special Taraveeh prayers in which the prayer leader will recite the entire Quran from memory. Those who have accomplished this extraordinary feat of memorizing all of the 6246 verses are not a handful of devotees but there are hundreds of thousands of them. Most, just like most Muslims in the world today, do not speak Arabic. Yet they have painstakingly learnt to pronounce each and every word of the Quran correctly. The phenomenon is not a result of some religious resurgence that would pass. From the very first day that the Quran was revealed, it was memorized. And the number of those who have memorized it has been increasing ever since. Memorization of Quran has been going on all through the centuries, all over the globe wherever Muslims are.

There are other religions that claim to possess the Word of God. There are none that can show a book that has commanded anything remotely comparable to this level of devotion.

there is a great difference between memorizing and understanding, but does one prevent from the other ?

And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire.
Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked?
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. [Quran 38: 27-29]

Peace be upon you,

And in your belief system, does memorizing the Quran gain them eternal life? Do they have to memorize it in Arabic?

Isn't it more important to act on the word than to know the whole bible? Also wouldn't it be even better to know the word, understand it and follow it?
follow it and experience it!;)
