The bible gives a number of ways to please God, apart from the typical "believe in Jesus Christ" things, here's a couple I'm sure there's many more:

praying for those in authority (1 Ti 2)

presenting our bodies as living sacrifices (Rom 12)

Sending support to those in the ministry Php (4:18)

Honoring and serving family (1 Ti 5:4)

Obeying parents (col 3:2)

Living an upright life worthy of Christ (Col 1:10).

Don't buy the lie that there is nothing you can do to please God, and that Jesus Christ is the only sacrifice acceptable to Him. IMO this is nothing more than vain humility and the "saved by grace and faith in Christ alone" thing taken too far, to the extent that our actions and what we do are seen as trivial and irrelevant. That's not true because you are saved, you are "in Christ", and whatever you do should be done in the name of Jesus (Col 3:17). Some take the "saved by faith alone" thing too far.

Some take the "saved by faith alone" thing too far. To the extent that you feel you cannot "do" anything because it violates the dogma of "saved by faith alone", and you don't achieve anything for Christ or please Him in the ways mentioned above. These types will even condemn others for trying, and cry "salvation by works!". That's why quite a few churches are full of pew-sitters who do nothing for God except preach their same old "saved by faith alone' dogma to each other, and the majority of church resources and time are spent on entertainment because there is "nothing they can do", just trust in Christ and by waving some magic wand people will get saved, fed, healed, delivered and you'll have a ticket to heaven no matter how you live your life, sin if you want to, it doesn't matter because you can't lose your ticket to heaven.

The devil will make you feel guilty about doing great things for God and pleasing God in your everyday actions, and it usually comes from the "saved by faith alone" preachers who are allergic to good works.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

and we know....

James 2
14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,
16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?
17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?
22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”And he was called the friend of God.
24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I believe that if we have genuine faith. We love God and we will want to do good works out of our love for God. The bible says without faith it is impossible to please God. So I think that the faith and works thing go hand and hand.

amen, exactly. But works don't necessarily come automatically, that's why Paul and James are exhorting them and writing to them.

The Devil loves this saved by grace stuff, you are not a threat to him or his job. It is the anti-Christ spirit alive and well, just start out of love for God to polish your own soul and watch the attacks start. I'm not attacking anyone I'm just saying could the enemy love it any more than weak Christians walking around in their sin saying God don't see me He sees Christ, Is God blind?Lets all work on becoming better people and it starts today. I don't want to offend anyone so please hear me its very hard to be holy and perfect and I'm no Saint but I'm called to be as we all should be. Just be patient with your self and know its a work in progress, to die to the flesh is hard and people give up and want the easy way out. To be like Christ is our goal that is what Christian means, we just want it to fast and get down on ourselves. We all have sinned(that is in the past)and fallen short of the glory of God. Today is a new day, lets walk in righteousness and be pure out of love for He who died for OUR SINS, other wise He suffered and died for nothing.

This morning I read a chapter in Colossians. So here is some I thought would be good to post on here:

For even though I am absent in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good discipline and the stability of your faith in Christ.

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude. 2:5-7
