Who said it was the temple in Jerusalem?. That is your surmise.
That is the only temple which matters in Scripture, and that is the only temple which will be desecrated by the Antichrist, since that is the only temple which has a Holy Place. So it is not a surmise but a BIBLICAL FACT. Believe it.

Vatican rebukes journalist who quoted pope as denying hell
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-pope-hell/vatican-rebukes-journalist-who-quoted-pope-as-denying-hell-idUSKBN1H52H8?utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_content=5abd46fe04d3016001f98def&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=facebook

The Vatican issued a statement after the comments spread on social media,
saying they did not properly reflect what the pope had said.

Yes, the "Vatican" issued a statement. The "pope" should have issued a statement himself to clarify what he actually said.

I stick to my belief this pope is false.

In another interview with his longtime atheist friend, Eugenio Scalfari, Pope Francis claims that Hell does not exist and that condemned souls just "disappear." This is a denial of the 2,000-year-old teaching of the Catholic Church about the reality of Hell and the eternal existence of the soul.

The interview between Scalfari and the Pope was published March 28, 2018 in La Repubblica. The relevant section on Hell was translated by the highly respected web log, Rorate Caeli.

The interview is headlined, "The Pope: It is an honor to be called revolutionary." (Il Papa: “È un onore essere chiamato rivoluzionario.")

Scalfari says to the Pope, "Your Holiness, in our previous meeting you told me that our species will disappear in a certain moment and that God, still out of his creative force, will create new species. You have never spoken to me about the souls who died in sin and will go to hell to suffer it for eternity. You have however spoken to me of good souls, admitted to the contemplation of God. But what about bad souls? Where are they punished?"

Pope Francis says, "They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls."

SOooooooo If your a Catholic and you die, your soul goes to a holding pen for souls. While there if you repent, God lets you into heaven and if you don't, then your molecules are spread across the heavens?????No Eternal punishment just simply POOF and your GONE!.......I think atheist have been saying something like that all along.

Budman, thank you for sharing this article with us..I had no idea things had digressed that far in the RCC.

Thank you again,

He has...

a. Met with top Muslims, Jews and contemporary Christian (so called) leaders in Jerusalem
b. Bowed to and Kissed the Koran and embraced Islam and Muslims
c. Placed his word above God and the bible
d. Seeking to unite all faiths
e. Saying and writing stuff that reeks of a false Prophet
f. Seeking to unite Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholics under one banner
etc.

In my view he will be the false Prophet and is fast moving into that position
If it does turn out that Pope Francis is indeed the False Prophet spoken of, going by current evidence, current actions of this pope, this pope could very well be the False Prophet spoken of, but just have to wait and see what happens further down track. Taking into account his age, how close are we towards seeing The Mark of the Beast becoming mandated?

Not too close but not too far. Until and unless the third temple has been completed in Jerusalem the Antichrist will not make his appearance. He has to hijack that temple in order to fulfil prophecy.

We are as close as the crash of the American Petro Dollar which in turn will crash the economies of the world.......some will argue this truth....but it is truth nonetheless......every market is tied to and fluctuates with the rise and fall of the dollar.....

Hello Nehemiah6,

I personally believe that the covenant/treaty that the antichrist makes will be with Israel and Islam, will allow Israel to build the temple on the temple mount, otherwise they would have already built it. But because the temple mount is under control of the WAFQ (Islam) Israel has not been able to do so. Something has to happen in order to make it possible for Israel to build her temple and I believe that something is the revealing of the antichrist through his covenant with both parties. Therefore, I don't believe that the temple has to be completed before he shows up, but that his being revealed and his covenant with them which makes it possible for them to build it.

Think of the ramirications of such an unbiblical statement by this guy. For one he is calling Jesus Christ a liar. Number 2, when Jesus said, "No one comes to the Father but by Me" means He died for nothing and He is not the only way for salvation. I have not read much on this but I was wondering what other catholic scholars are saying about his statement? Also, I wonder if catholics will be leaving their church in mass? Pun intended!

Well was listening to talk radio about this very subject. There are quite a few conservative Catholic folks out there. They are not happy. It sounds like a few might leave or have a new reformation. Frank the pope has been doing this bit of saying one thing then the Vatican has to run out and clarify. Some say this is the last straw.
I was thinking it would be funny if the Vatican has a team that is dedicated to just cleaning up frank’s off hand remarks. Lol

They will now have to also clean up the floor of St Peter's Basilica, since apparently there was a Divine response to such nonsense from Pope Francis.

[h=4]Plaster pieces fell down from the ceiling of St. Peter’s Basilica, a sign from the heavens[/h]

the publication La Repubblica is well known to be anti-clerical and to often totally fabricate quotations from both the pope and other church leaders.

the vatican, as one would expect, denies the veracity of the published reports, affirms the existence of hell and in particular the pope's belief in it, and Scalfari himself agrees that the RCC is correct in saying they are not accurate quotes.

so basically this thread is propagating misleading and false tabloid headlines.

Not necessarily. Vatican scrambles after pope appears to deny existence of hell

The Vatican said the “literal words pronounced by the pope are not quoted” and that “no quotation of the article should be considered as a faithful transcription of the words of the Holy Father”.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/mar/30/vatican-scrambles-to-clarify-popes-denial-that-hell-exists

This is essentially meaningless. Why did not Francis -- who is so outspoken about climate change and migrant invasion -- come right out and say "I absolutely believe that there is a real literal Hell - the Lake of Fire"? The above statement is pure obfuscation because he created a firestorm.

all i mean to contribute is that a more accurate thread title might be,

"
journalist known for fabricating quotes says pope denies hell"

said journalist admits quotes in his story are not accurate. back in 2014 he wrote that the pope had abolished the notion of sin -- another misrepresentation the vatican denied -- probably if we search the forum we had similar threads about it then, too.

Then the question we should all ask is why is this journalist still getting access to the pope ?
Somthing just doesn’t feel right here .

Regardless what this pope said, one big question, why does the pope have the title "Holy Father" or to put another way "Set Apart Father"? Has anyone had the opportunity to ask this? Come to think of it, has anyone who has interviewed the pope (whether it is current or past popes) asked this question directly to the pope?

That question has been addressed in several threads . I haven’t seen a valid defense of the term .
Also I doubt anyone has the pope the question either.
Still who knows that journalist in Rome might . He seems to have a lot of access to Frank the pope .

What the Pope actually said is that those who are condemned will be permanently separated from God. It is the same thing the former Pope said. It makes sense because a body cannot eternally burn. So does a soul burn in hellfire?
It would be very nice if we could respect Catholics are our brothers and sisters in Christ instead of da**ing them. The reformation is over.

Hello Alertandawake,

Yes, regardless of what the pope said regarding the existence of eternal punishment, there are a lot more serious matters regarding the RCC, like being Mystery, Babylon the great, the woman who rides the beast. Because of Constantine holding the positions of emperor and the first pope this set the stage for the continuing office of the pope, i.e. that everyone in the world must belong to the RCC and be under the authority of the pope. Anyone who has done any study can look back and see how the popes and the RCC controlled kings and their involvement in the inquisitions where they imprisoned, tortured and killed many and that in the name of Christianity, so they believed.

The office of the pope has not had the authoritative power over the masses sin the 1700's, but that will all change when that antichrist is revealed, who will once again empower the office of the pope. I personally believe that one of the future popes will play the part of the second beast, the false prophet. With over 1.2 billion devout followers, what do you think is going to happen to that number once this future pope begins to perform those miracles, signs and wonders even causing fire to come down out of heaven? The devout will become more devout and every other false religious sect will be drawn in because of it. The only groups that will be holding out will be Israel and the great tribulation saints.

* The woman you saw is that great city that rules over the kings of the earth.

When John was receiving this information from the angel, Rome was that city that ruled over the kings of the earth

* The seven heads are seven hills upon which the woman sits

Rome was literally built on and is famous for her seven hills

* The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet and glittering with gold

These are the exact colors worn by the cardinals and bishops and all of the articles in the Vatican are either pure gold or overlaid with gold.
