Let's try the reverse logic of this point. If you say it is ok to drink but not to get drunk, how can you know how many drinks it takes to get drunk if you have never gotten drunk? Some people get drunk at 1 drink and so your statement that 2 or 3 is OK may be misleading and sinful.
I said it might be ok to have 1 beer or glass of wine with dinner, maybe 2 but that is stretching it. Any more than that is too much regardless if you are drunk or not. No christian should ever drink enough to know what it would take to get them drunk. And a true follower of Christ someone who is truly seeking after God's heart would more than likely not drink at all.

To that I would have to say...

Bollocks.

but any type or amount of liquor is wrong, and anything over two especially over three beers or cups of wine is sin
Two drinks isn't much at all, really.
The only claim on sin you have based on scripture is that it is a sin to get drunk. Not to drink. Then again, the scriptures which say getting drunk occasionally is a sin are few and far between.

It only take one to make it true. How many times does God have to tell you something before you believe Him? Further there are scriptures that say drink no strong drink at all, much less drinking until your drunk.

Beer wouldnt be considered strong drink, particularly not the light beers. Most of the scriptures are against drunkardness, not because drink is wrong of itself, but because of what it leads to if taken in excess - violence, fighting, sexual immorality etc. In Eph 5:18 I suppose you missed reading the bit where it says "wherein is excess", meaning, the kind of drunkeness which leads to riotous or excessive living. In other words, getting drunk or "plastered", for the sole purpose of getting drunk, as many do today. It doesn't seem to prohibit getting drunk for accidentally drinking too much or drinking at all, on occasion. But it only prohibits the use of alcohol for the purpose of getting drunk which would lead to riotous living and a substitute for the Holy Spirit in your life.

Hahaha , you are hilariously confused. Light beer has the same amount of alcohol as regular it is light beer because it has less calories. ROFL, what a doof!!!

The way they get lower carbs results in lower alcohol content as well. It obviously depends on the brand, and there are some light beers that run at the same alcohol content, but, in Australia for most light beers, it is both and in contrast - less calorie beer that runs at higher alcohol content is usually called "low-carb" beer, in Australia light beer does mean less alcohol content primarily, less than 3% or something. Obviously you don't know enough about beer to comment.

I'm still confused how this thread switched topics, but regardless of that...we had a really great sermon at church the other night about exactly this.

If I can get my hands on a copy of it, I will let you know. It was about the whole drinking/drunk debate. It was thought-provoking and really challenging!

Why on earth would you think that? Why is a couple of glasses of wine 'stretching it' if you're not drunk, and probably not anywhere near being drunk? What exactly are we stretching?

And a true follower of Christ someone who is truly seeking after God's heart would more than likely not drink at all.
And again, why on earth do you think that?

A true christian would know the difference between light beer and premium.

I was joking. It was a jab at the 'true Christian' idea and the belief that someone isn't really a Christian just because they do something you don't like. For clarification, I don't think saying bollocks is intrinsically sinful.

I'm still confused how we switched topics?

Should I change the title of this thread...since it no longer appears to be about premarital sex?

Well apparently to some in here premarital sex, drinking, and cursing are all fine, even within the Church. Boggles the mind doesn't it?

Oh hmm, yes that is mind boggling.

Interesting. I didn't realise we were at liberty to pick and choose which parts of God's word we want to obey.
