Sorry, I'm in a hurry right now so I can't give a reply to that. But Do you what God thinks of RPG that has a like a lot of magic in. You know stuff like that. I dont' reallly have to worry about the sexual stuff, because most of the games and anime I see and play have little to none of it in there.
You can kinda compare this to the Harry Potter thread. It's fictional magic. You;re a grown up discerning man so you know it's fictional and you're not actually trying to conjure up magic are you? It's just a game from my perspective. I've played plenty of games like that( Final fantasy and what not)

I know, all it is just Sprites, 3D Models, maybe some partical systems that make up the magic in the games. Yeah, then I shouldn't have anything to worry about with the RPGs. I was just curious what other people though. lol No, I haven't been trying to do any magic in my life. Even though I played my 1st RPG when I was around 6-7 years old(Before Christ), and it still hasn't hasn't effect my growth as Christian because I know that in video games and anime it's fake(even if it is real in there world.), and real magic is evil. Sorta like Demons in video games and anime. They could be good or bad depending on the video game/anime, but in real life I know they are ALWAYS evil.

I took out my nose ring (septum) for God. I think it was a symbol for my rebellious past that was no longer a part of my life. It helped me get closer to God, but you know, i dont miss it.

dothackzero,

There is abolutely nothing wrong with liking and enjoying these forms of entertainment. If they take time you would like to spend with God then cut back. If they cause you to question God then ask Him your question and look for answers in His Word. If you think they might be harmful or even suspect that might be the case give them up for a week and see it if makes a difference in your walk in faith. If you find you can't they that is a pretty good indication that they are not for you.

Perhaps you could seek out a christian version of these things are even try your hand a creating some yourself. If you try doing it yourself you might even find a way to turn it into a ministry helping others to fellowship and serve God with those talents.

Remember in all things first seek the Lord and you won't go wrong.

and Don't worry, I'm not even close to questioning what I my faith in God. My foundation is more solid than steel, my main problem is mostly building up my faith from there. lol I'm still growing as a Christian, just not as fast as I'd like it to.

Mr. Doth,

There has been much said and I'm not at all sure a small town guy from NC can add anything without risking overexposure. Too many foreign opinions are hazardous to the patience.

At the risk of straining your patience, I'd like to pass on a bit of wisdom I've gained over several years concerning the growth of a Christian boy into a Christian man.

Unlike the others, I'm willing to admit that I've grown substantially in my Christian walk, both in piety and in knowledge. My entire worldview has changed at least three times since accepting Christ at the age of 8...all the time evolving in an upward direction.

As a Christian boy, I was beset by a pagan culture. Called by heathens to join them in their pleasures. Almost every pleasure in America is a pagan pursuit in some form or another. Humanism is the official religion of the day and is found abundantly in video games as well as Japanese pop-literature. I think of it like the sugar or fructose corn syrup that inundates almost all popular foods today.

But in God's grace, I was lead to see the evils of eating unhealthy foods. I gave them up in favor of the more healthy cucumber, or celery. Both rather bitter, but sweet when looking in the mirror. My taste in popular enjoyments changed in the same way. As I grew in my faith, I began losing interest in Saturday morning cartoons, and began thinking of ways to serve God, and take dominion for Him.

The church needs men! She needs warriors to go out and slay giants! She yearns for them! Instead, she gets children in their late thirties who pride themselves on reaching the 99th level in some video game.

In closing, I see in you a streak of heroism, and appreciation for the arts. As you grow and mature in Christ, these interests will be tempered and refined. Instead of anime, you may find Van Gogh appealing. Instead of video games...maybe you'll save a beautiful damsel from the pagan hoards we live among.

Growing up never looks good when looking at it from youth, though youth always looks precious in hindsight. May God bless you on your journey.

mmm, some things changed for me when I started following God. I LOVE to read, it's my favourite past time and I could do it all day long. One of my favorite genres was romance novels. They were hot, and steamy, and thrilling, plus I love a good love story. Now, I still read novels that are romantically themed, but I skip over the sex scenes. I love the imagination and the actual plot in the books more now, and I still like how romances begin and bud and bloom, but I don't need the sex part in it. Now whenever I get to one of those cheesy excuses for a "love scene" I roll my eyes and skip it.

I've also found that my taste in movies has changed. A good trashy movie with lots of cussing and highly sexual themes like Van Wilder, Miss March, etc, used to be so funny to me. Now I find them vulgar and offensive and disgusting.

But, I still read novels, I still watch tv and movies, and of course, I still play lots and lots of video games! I just have to remember to put them down and read a couple chapters in my Bible, talk to God while I'm doing dishes, pray every time I open a door. As long as you are making room for God, the Holy Spirit will tell you what to do and not do using your conscience. If you pick up that game and you get that nagging feeling...you know, you really should be reading your Bible right now, then listen, put the game down, and go read the Bible for a bit, then come back to your game. Or if you are watching an anime (which some have a tendancy to be very...suggestive) and you find yourself feeling guilty for watching it because it's vulgar, or too violent, or whatever, then stop watching it and watch something else instead. Listening to your conscience is a good place to start!

I don't think I'll have a problem since I never really had a taste for that kind of movie.

Well, I mean come on, most anime is a large chested teenage high school girl in a mini skirt that flashes panties every time she giggles and gets sparkles in her eyes. I prefer stuff like Trigun, and that one with the vampire named Zero, and Fruitsbasket, but the majority of anime panders to a very specific part of the teenage boy psyche...

So no harem anime then. That's fine with me, I don't watch them anymore anyway. Since I've watched all the good ones, and besides nowadays they'd probably just depress me. :p

Hi, try not to worry about that right now, and focus on what's important...God... and your growing relationship with Him. If sometime down the track God wants you to stop those games, then He will place in your heart the DESIRE to stop.

If it's really bugging you, try praying about it, ask Him "Lord, if You want me to stop playing these games, please tell me,if it's Your Will Lord, please give me the desire to want to stop."

Sorry this is still bugging me. I'm not getting much of an answer from God either. I think this becoming like another OCD fear for me or something.

That's a sign it's not from God. Remember, God doesn't want you to be obsessively afraid. Who or what is making your afraid? Try and distance yourself from them, if possible.

I never said it was a sign. I think I'm making myself afraid. I've just always had diffrent types of fears for as long as I can remember. This one I think is just a fear I didnt' know about till a little while ago, but I think it's a fear that's been holding me back as a Christian.

Clearly then the solution is to split yourself in two!...

Wait, that won't help.

Huh, I'm really not sure what to say, but trust me, I've been there, causing myself needless fear. I guess how I ultimately dealt with it is instead of seperating things to the categories of [God] and [evil], started seeing anything I read, game I play, show I watch, etc, as something I can learn from--whether it's contemplating about the destructive nature of crime and the difficulty of starting over in Grand Theft Auto 4 or learning about how intricate and complex Creation is from biology class.

I have this weird thing about me where I don't like doing evil even in video games. So playing something like GTA would never work for me. hmm, I wonder maybe God has already starting working on me in this way...

I'm not saying you need to play it, just that one can learn from even a very M-Rated game.
