Christians say they are saved and have Christ in there life until hard times come or decisions they make are what they want not what God wants.

Ask a Christian how do you repent of a sin? Stop sinning, turn to Gods way, they will say. Well I think that is an easy answer and the correct one.
This is what I don't understand!! Christians that get divorced for unbiblical reasons and marry some one else.
There are things in the bible that you can divorce for but I'm talking unbiblical reasons.
You ask that Christian how do you repent of an adulterous marriage? Well just ask God for forgiveness and repent and your ok. and stay married.

Know ask that same Christian the same question about gay marriage? The answer u get is they have to stop being married and not be married to another man. Why because the bible says its wrong and its sin so they have to seperate, repent and ask forgiveness and live a straight life.
Why does repentance and forgiveness in one case let you still live in sin? (Adulterous marriage)
They other says you have to stop and separate.
Divorce is wrong, adulterous marriage is wrong, gay marriage is wrong.
Why do christians have different standards for this?

We all have sin in our lives and you are right it is better not to marry if your divorce is not based on the terms laied out in the Bible. My first marriage ended in divorce and even though my ex-wife had committed adultery I did not re-marry for 5 years. The same thing happened with my second marriage it has been almost 10 years and I have not re-married and do not plan on it.

One thing to concider with repentance is it is a one time ocurrance, the Father as set all the sins of all His people on Christ past, present and future sins of His people. Now we confess those sins as the holy Spirit leads us and shows us those sins in our lives. When we have faith/believe/repent we are given eternal life and nothing can seperate us from the love of God, what is that love.

Romans 5:6-11 “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

Notice Christ died for us, us who? God's people and it was based on the love of the Father for us His love and mercy for us His people. Ephesians 2:5-6
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—”

We have been saved from the wrath of God, we will never experience that wrath because the Father placed it on Christ, if the Father were to judge us, those that Christ died for the Father would be unjust and we know He is not unjust. In the same way if the Father placed one sin one a person that ends up in hell He is un-just as well. This is why repentance is a one time act and when we learn of moew sin in out lives we confess. Confession is not like repentance, to confess is to agree, we agree with God the Father that whatevr it is, it is a sin in our lives and we agree that we need to work with the Lord on that sin in our life. Philippians 2:12-13

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”

I like your post.
I'm not asking about salvation I know what salvation is and how we get it. Faith ,BELIEVE , repent for salvation.
And I know repentance is a one time thing on sin.
Ture salvation is a change in a person.
I ask why do christians have different standards on this issues?
What separates the two? Both are wrong.

What you're asking is random people why a specific group does something. Why not identify someone that is actually the type you're referring to and asking them.
Anyone else that answers will give speculation, not facts and answers.

And notice that it's the same two subjects, adultery and homosexuality.

Last time I checked, there wasn't a vocal minority of people demanding that Christians accept adultery as a valid lifestyle choice. Funny how those who point out the hypocrisy of some Christians conveniently forget that.

You don't have to worry about them because God Himself is not condemning them but giving them grace and truth. God said the wicked shall not go unpunished but also forgives those who repent. Only through no condemnation that sin loses its power. It is not our repentance that leads to God's kindness, but God's kindness that leads to our repentance. Since we often do what we know is wrong, rules rarely keep us in line. Love does a much better job of keeping us moral. Love cannot exist without freedom, and freedom cannot exist without responsibility. So God gives us freedom and room for growth which involves some growing pains that we need.

To see him as the big disciplinarian without compassion is to deny his nature. (Ps. 103 )

Since it seems you're dying to scold someone over something about divorce, would you like to point fingers at that person and then scold that person singularly?

If it helps any, I'm married to a divorcee. AND, we're both Christians and were both Christians when we were married.

So, feel free to take this out on me. I certainly knew what I was doing at the time, and have no regrets despite people like you.

I just ask a question.
I'm not scolding any one.
If you can live with the consequence of your choice, good deal.
If u want to justify it then do so.
That is between you and God.

Easy. We don't.

(Still looked like a scold.)

14RR,

I think the reason you are getting the responses that you are getting is because you have exposed some hypocrisy. It has been my experience that when you pull a mask off that is hiding an ugly truth, you either get one of two responses: Remorseful confession or vicious attack. The latter is much easier to do when we have been caught covering up something.

Just my two cents. :)

I feel God is telling me that this is not something you need to worry about. He says that He works in ways all at once that you couldnt begin to fathom. HE is God. He wants to work with you on growing your fruits. Your focus should be on the changes He wants to make in your life. He says you know what they are and He has shared your purpose and it is time to prepare you to walk in His work.

Is there a particular reason you are asking this question?
Thanks for the good question, PennEd, and knowing what I do about you, I think your question is sincere and not trying to beat around the bush about the issue.

Now if the OP will be honest in answering "why" he asks the question, it will be very helpful in all of us knowing how to answer.

So I join PennEd in asking: Why does this question matter to you? Why do you ask?

Actually, I saw neither reaction. I saw confusion.

One big question still fills my mind, "Who is he talking about?"

He said "Christians." I know a bunch. I am one. I don't know anyone who does what he says "Christians" do.

Christians say this where I live. And the reason I ask is to see what some thoughts where. But I don't want to argue with u Lynn but I must have wronged you some way. Why so offensive by my question.

Let's try it this way,

Every American is only after their fame and fortune. They don't think about anyone else, and make decisions based solely on what they want at that particular moment.

Given you're an American:
1. Is that true?
2. Do you have a clue why I would say such a thing out of the blue?
3. Are you offended that you are included in that group?

Yeah, something like that. You whitewashed all Christians as having one thought in life without ever seeing if that's true, and then came to people you don't know and are Christians to lay that trip on them for whatever reason you chose to. And now you're confused why no one is explaining it to you?

At least you cut it back to "Christians say this where I live." That works a little better for me, except for one thing. I have no idea where you live, so still don't know if you have a beef with people you know or are just blaming it on all Christians.

Here's the kicker. Whereas I do not think adultery is a given for why to end a marriage in divorce always, I also don't think the only thing homosexuals have to do is stop having sex. So, the charges you're laying on everyone simply have no validity to me.

STILL waiting in hopes you will get around to answering Ed's question.
