Do you believe this passage says that the ark of the covenant is still on earth, or do you believe this passage is suggesting it will in someway come down from heaven or be seen in heaven?

You could ask since all of the OT rituals symbolized spiritual realities. The Temple symbolized Jesus (the temple made without hands) etc? What did the Ark symbolize? And where is the fulfilled spiritual reality today?

Since the Ark of the Covenant was indeed seen in Heaven, we must take that as a fact. It will not come down from Heaven, and all claims that it is still on earth are false.

I would offer that gold represents or symbolizes the measure of faith the unseen power or glory of God. The law of God as it is written. . . the letter that kills.

Moses signified as the law giver (God) leaves instruction to be put on the side of the ark. The book of the law as to witness of the hidden mystery under its golden cover. A picture of the law (death) not entering the promised land .The new heavens and earth . Inside manna called the hidden manna in Revelation 2 . All three to include the staff of authority, new name, against rebels representing the hidden glory that will be revealed on the last day

Deuteronomy 31:25-27 King James Version (KJV) That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee. For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the Lord; and how much more after my death?

Out of sight out of mind rebels sign seekers, no faith in a God not seen.

Revelation2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Hebrews 9:4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

The tables of the new covenant a pure white stone to represent the purity or cleansing power of those written in the lambs book of life names written from the foundation of it as it is written "the good soil" ;

The preponderance of the historical evidence is that the Ark on earth no longer exists. The Babylonians looted Jerusalem and the temple, and they had to take all that 1,500 miles back by foot. They would have dismantled it. Supposedly there is a rumor that "the priests buried and hid the Ark," but that has about as much credibility as "Elvis is still alive." The priests, the kings, and the Israelites did not care much about God at the time--that was the reason they were being conquered. They cared about saving their own skins. And if that meant giving away everything they had as ransom, then that they did.
