the red stained your eyes; now we know why you can not see clearly.
Wait... How could the red stain my eyes if I've never even had a red letter Bible?

A lot of hate for your neighbours in this thread. Some protestants must live 24/7 festering in hate for 'Not Quite Right' Christians.

Yep, that's what Jesus wanted.

Hello, I’m a Roman Catholic, and I’m Proud of it, some people here think it’s sort of permutation of paganism. Never. I know this site is about sharing of thoughts and opinion, but please let’s just focus on our great similarities, Live your life similar to how Jesus lived His life here on Earth, last week I met this guy from other religion, he really know the facts in the bible and stuff, telling me all these reasons why he left the Roman Catholic Church, but then I realized he loves his religion, telling me it’s the best of all, but sad to say he never went to jail to be with criminals and teach the words of Christ, he never experience feeding the hungry and the poor, having the knowledge about your religion is good, being a good person is good, but being good to others even to those who you think doesn’t deserve kindness is even better. Religion will be wasted if you don’t live your life as His hands in sharing blessing, His mouth in teaching the “Good News”, His arms in embracing our fellow sinners. Love and Respect my Friends.
Focus on our Great similarities. Jesus is our savior. Make His life your life and His words your words. Peace and Grace!

Gee, if it could only END with the similarities. When you go outside that, then Jesus gets "diluted".

Keep in mind that Our Lord spoke Aramaic for his day to day chats with the Apostles. While Greek was well known, most Jews used the Aramaic language when speaking to fellow Jews.
Now, in Aramaic, the word for "Rock" is "Kephas" sometimes spelled "Cephas". When the Scriptures were later translated to Greek, the translator attempted to keep the word play evident in the Aramaic and thus Kephas become "Petros" when talking about the guy, and "petra" for the second instance of "rock" since it's normally a female word. The translator had to use the masculine form for Peter's name since well... Peter's a guy. :) Anyways, let's look at that passage following.

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Kephas (Rock) and on this kepha(rock) I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
You'll notice a few important things here. First, Christ tells Peter/Kephas/Cephas that it was God the Father who revealed to him who Jesus was. Second, Christ renames him! Looking in the Scriptures, whenever God gives someone a new name, it's indicative that they are to have a VERY important role to play. Abram became Abraham, Jacob becomes Israel, and now, Simon becomes Kephas.

Following this renaming, Our Lord then says that He is founding His Church on Kephas. (You are rock... on this rock...). He then also says that He is giving Kephas the keys to the kingdom of Heaven. This is a very symbolic gesture. In a sense, He's appointing Kephas to be a sort of Prime Minister, able to act in Jesus' name and with His authority. We even see it's usage today, often when someone does something extraordinary, they're given the symbolic keys to the city. While today it's merely a symbolic gesture, in those days, cities often did have a literal key and the guy who got the key was literally able to open/shut the city! So this is a VERY big deal.

In short, there's plenty of evidence that Christ did indeed found His Church on Peter(Kephas) and that he was entrusted with authority as Christ's prime minister of sorts. :)

So, therefore, everything that a "pope" has declared is "truth"?

Depends. There's certain instances where we can trust 100% because we know the Holy Spirit is guiding the Church.
There's an article explaining the Catholic position on this (replete with Scripture) here.

Hope this helps.

you can "trust 100%" because it is "backed up" with the teachings of the 1st Century Church AND Scripture (the four Gospels and the letters of Paul (Romans to Hebrews), John (I, II and III) and Peter (I and II Peter)) and the history (Acts) and Jewish traditions fulfilled by Christ?

I am just wondering how many here are actually Roman Catholics. I am new here and I get the impression that most are from other denominations. So, who is Roman Catholic here and what do you all think of the recent appearances of the Holy Mother in our century.

Overview of Medjugorje

FATIMA NETWORK: Our Lady of Fatima Online
As youqh. can see, us Catholics aren't too popular here due to a combination of misunderstandings and inaccurate history. But you'll get used to it. Most people are zealous but well meaning. We just need to keep telling the truth of the Catholic faith with lots and patience and love
Sinless Mary The church teaches she was without sin. Yet the Bible says in Romans 3:23 - “ All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God” Vs 10 says There is none righteous no not one Luke 1:47 Mary says God my savior If she was without sin she didn't need a savior (The only qualifier is what “Bernadette of Fatima said when a lady appeared to her in a vision saying “She was the Immaculate Conception. As I mentioned in the initial verse sited

2 Tim 3:16,17 – 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Its the only inspired book from the Lord. (there's no exception mentioned in Gods Word = DO YOU SEE ANY EXCEPTIONS on this?

AND
The Rosary Its a ritual of repetitive prayers that supposedly is for recreating the passion of Jesus and the procession of the cross. Jesus spoke against the religious leaders of the church sounding as if what the Lord wants and He says He's definitely against repetitive prayers

A Biblical Response is requested [email protected]

I am just wondering how many here are actually Roman Catholics. I am new here and I get the impression that most are from other denominations. So, who is Roman Catholic here and what do you all think of the recent appearances of the Holy Mother in our century.

I was raised Roman Catholic (RCC). After becoming born Again, per John 3:3-17 (God's inerrant written word), I found that a lot of the practices of the RCC were actually pagan practices. While the RCC does believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again, it practices pagan rituals and beliefs. God tells us in His written word that we cannot have it both ways....we cannot serve two gods; He being one and the many gods of paganism the other.
Mary is DEAD. She was a normal human being that was blessed of God and chosen by Him to bear His son. She is not immortal. She had several other children after Jesus. Scripture is the source of all of this information. If you are not being encouraged by your priest to read God's word for yourself, you need to leave that church and find another. God's word can never be overruled by any work of man...and that includes ALL of the teachings of the RCC that do not MATCH PERFECTLY God's written word.
I know you are sincere...even zealous. But both sincerity and zeal can be deceived. It is the Holy Bible that is to be the standard for ALL those that call themselves of His name; "Christian"...followers of Christ. There are many RCCers that are truly Born again Christains...but unless God TELLS THEM to remain for the purpose of bringing clarity of Biblical doctrine to those around them, most find that the false teachings and practices of the RCC must be left behind as each person moves to develop a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with Jesus. It is that personal relationship and obediecence that affords anyone the priviledge of becoming a joint heir with Jesus to the right hand of God at His throne.
Do not let tradition and long-known religious comforts be the chains that bind you to the inability to search the matters out for yourself so you can fulfill the destiny path that God created you for.
Do not let the emotions of RCC friends and family...their FEARS or Anger over new-found Biblcal truths ...be the court of judgment that keeps you from finding true freedom in Christ Jesus.
And lastly...do not let ignorance...lack of Biblical knowledge and UNDRSTANDING be the prison bars the deny you entrance to the Kingdom of God, NOW, here on earth. Hos 4:6, Prov 5:23, 7:7 9:16, 10:21
Tradition is ignorance at best, but dangerous in its pure form. Ignorance WILL lead to hell.

Reasons Why I Left the Catholic Church
I was a Catholic for 33 years, Married to an ex nun who also was very much into the Theology of the Catholic Church Doctrine. I left the church because the doctrines just did not square with the Bible. I present the following for your consideration. Everything I
say here is based on the Scriptures. My purpose is for you to ask your teachers, “why do your teachings do not follow what God's Word says to teach in

2 Timothy 3:16,17“ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”(nothing else is needed He inspired it)

This is not an attempt to pull you away from your church but to ask the teachers why they don't follow the Word, the Scriptures require of you.

The Mass According to the Council of Trent, It says “If anyone says the mass is NOT the true, proper, and propitiatory sacrifice, or that what is offered is nothing else that Christ given to be eaten LET HIM BE ANATHEMA, meaning (accursed) The Bible says Christ died once for all – The church is saying it is a repeated sacrifice
AGAIN from the Council “If anyone says the mass is a bare commemoration but not Propitiatory, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA. My answer is the same
AGAIN from the council “If anyone says that the faith which justifices is nothing else but trust alone we are justified “LET HIM BE ANATHEMA

This one really bothered me. If the perfect sinless Jesus paid the price for all my sins and He's God, what more do I need to attain Salvation? The works mentioned in Colossians 2:13,14 “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; ALSO in Scripture Heb 9:26 For then must He often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself (not repeatedly)

The elements of Bread and Wine changing into the Body and Blood of Christ; John 6:53 is the heart of the mass and the Catholic Church teachings, for the mass is the center of the faith: If you take the verse in the context of Verses 25 – 63 you will find the Jesus is speaking to the Apostles Spiritually but they are seeing it to be a physical happening. Yet in verse 63 the word says These thing are Spiritual and they are life: How do U explain Transubstantition in light of that different understanding of the apostles? Focus on verse 63 That makes the host an Idol, and the 10 Commandments go against that.

Sinless Mary The church teaches she was without sin. The Papacy The church concludes that from Matt 6:18,19 You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church. Problems with it's interpretation a) In Greek Peter is Petros a masculine derivative = a pebble; Rock is Petra a feminine derivative = a large rock: Your answer is Jesus spoke in Aramaic - Yet if you reason that out If Jesus was to make him the leader of the church He would have simply said I will build mychurch on YOU Peter, but he didn't. So you are to believe the bible not the Church a man made organization & not the bible.

1 Peter 2:7“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” My point is, the church is not built on what the Pope says, It's built on what His Word says. The Pope is a sinner just like us. Unless we trust in Jesus alone for our salvation than our faith is worthless read Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. and remember you only get into CHRIST by this verse

Rom 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Him as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me & the life I live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

1 Corinthians 15:16-19 “ For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.” ALSO perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

Your version of “Sola Scriptura” You follow the interpretation of the Scriptures from an Allegorical prospective which is “View literal sense as only a preliminary vehicle for getting beneath to that which' is deeper. To Catholics each man is a law unto himself. It obscures scripture by imposing

Eisegeses = Forcing the Bible to say what you want it to say rather than
Exegesis = Allows the verse to say what it says Literal defines this way Literal: Says the meaning of the scripture is the basis, customary and socially acknowledged designation of the terms with grammar and historical factors considered. A large part of the Bible makes sense this way. “If the normal sense makes good sense make it make no other sense or its nonsense.

7 – Praying to the Saints and Canonizing them The Bible says we have one advocate with the Father Jesus Christ the righteous 1John 2:1 “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” Jesus loves us so much and He wants all of us to be saved, why do we need to pray to others. Jesus is the only one we need to go to.
