If Christians didn't sin, why does John say that if any man sin we are to confess our sins?
You do that, if you are an unbeliever.

If you are a born again believer, then "God has made Jesus to be sin for us".

Now, i want to show you this..

If you read 2 Corinthians 5:19, Paul teaching, it shows you that God was in Christ NOT COUNTING SIN against you.
Read it.

Then, read Paul again.......Romans 4:8

Paul teaching......and this verse says that GOD does not charge sin to the born again.

So, that is Paul, 2 verses, ......very clear.

Why does a person sin and confess, when God does not charge sin to the born again?
Its because their Denomination does not understand anything about the Cross, the Blood of Jesus, the Blood Atonement, or "The Gift of Salvation".
In other words, they have no understanding of the NT New Covenant or anything that Paul teaches about The Cross of Christ.

1.) You can't teach what you don't know
2.) You can't believe what you have not yet been taught

Welcome to Christianity in '2023.
Most are law keeping commandment worshiping Calvinist's, and the other .0002% actually understand The Cross of Christ, or any of Paul's Doctrine.
That's not very many.

John is writing to believers...my little children.

"My Little Children" is not in verses 7-10.

So, you should burn your commentary, as it LIED TO YOU, or your Denomination did..

Listen.

Go to :

1 John 3:9

That one is for the Born again...... = "no sin".

READ IT.

Are you saying anyone who sins is not born again, and so not a Christian?

Im saying that 1 John 1:9 is an Apostle who is preaching to unbelievers.

1 John 3:9 is the SAME APOSTLE telling the born again they "can't sin".

So, do you see it?

I need to get some Threads up and running on this forum that teach how to understand all this, as it is SO VERY IMPORTANT that believers learn it, or they will stay STUCK in :

Hebrews 6:1

The explanation of 1 John 3:9 is not sinlessness but the absence of the power of sin to any longer lead a believer into a lifestyle or ongoing sin. That's why he let's the believers know they have an advocate and the possibility of renewed fellowship with God in repentance.
1st John is not concerned with the means of salvation. It concerns fellowship with God in the first chapter and a series of tests that one can apply to oneself to see if the fellowship is actually genuine.

e.
Beig born again, is eternal. Its to become "one with God". Spiritually.
There is no repenting of Sin, as sin is not found In God, or IN Christ, or in Salvation.

Jesus BECAME your sin, if you are born again, and not just water baptized and religious.

Read :

2 Corinthians 5:19

Read

Romans 4:8

There is NO SIN "in Christ", and all the born again are IN CHRIST.

All the Born again, are "seated in Heavenly places", and there is no sin found there, Cameron.

You have a commentary issue.
Get rid of it., or you'll continue to confess instead of understanding the "new creation in Christ'.

Yet you had no comment on :

Romans 4:8

2nd Corinthians 5:19

READ THEM.

-Shalom
There is no reason to go on to further texts until you come to an understanding of the first. Otherwise, the later texts will be understood from a false position. But I do appreciate you taking the time to share. Blessings.

If you think you do not sin, you are deceived.
Here is a bible quest for you.

( you have to use a bible)

Go and read all of Paul's Epistles.
Every one.

When you finish, ......ask yourself......>"why didnt Paul ever confess any sin, or say even one word about confessing sin in all His Epistles">

I know why.
And you don't yet.

Read Romans 7.
Read 1 Tim 1:15.
Read Acts 20:22ff. Paul went to Jerusalem despite the fact that God told him not to go, by revelation, prophecies, and the direct words of a prophet (Agabus).

If God made Jesus to be your sin, then you need to believe it.

2 Corinthians 5:21

If He didnt, then you are this.

John 3:36

You decide which one you want to be.

2 Corinthians 5:21
The word is hamartia, and it can mean sin or sin offering, depending on the context. Jesus Christ did not become sin, he became a sin offering.

If He didnt, then you are this.

John 3:36
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

I believe on the Son.

I agree that we have free will. I am most assuredly not a Calvinist.

Also, you did not respond to what Paul says in Romans 7.

I'll respond to whatever verse you want to post, but not to an implication that there is something in a chapter.

Also, you can't speak Koine Greek, and you can't Read Koine Greek fluently.
So, VARob......Dont pretend to be a GREEK TEACHER, correcting the Bible, as if you have that capacity or depth of understanding.
See......There is nothing worse then a Forum Faker, who posts "Greek" that they can't even read.

Rom 7:
14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Also, you can't speak Koine Greek, and you can't Read Koine Greek fluently.
You're right. But there are concordances, lexicons, and interlinears that can help people understand the Greek (if they're willing to look...)

So, VARob......Dont pretend to be a GREEK TEACHER,
I'm not pretending to be a Greek teacher.

correcting the Bible, as if you have that capacity or depth of understanding.
I can use the tools that are available to to try and understand why the translators translated things the way they did. You can too. Do a little research.

2 Cor 5:21
CJB God made this sinless man be a sin offering on our behalf, so that in union with him we might fully share in God’s righteousness.”
MOUNCE He made him who knew no sin to be a sin-offering for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
NLT For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
NMB For he has made him who knew no sin to be a sin offering for us, so that we, by means of him, should be that righteousness which is accepted before God.
TLV He made the One who knew no sin to become a sin offering on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

See......There is nothing worse then a Forum Faker, who posts "Greek" that they can't even read.

You posted only a part of Paul's Testimony, because that is all you've been taught.
You only posted the struggle he had when he was trying to , by law, be righteous.
Paul didnt stop there, but you did, and so did your commentary and so did your denomination, which is so very typical of Calvinism, and a complete misunderstanding of the Grace of God.

Now you have to go to Philippians 3, and read that Paul said all that struggle that is law related to try to be righteous, is :""DUNG"

Then you have to look at the end of Paul's teaching.

He said this..

"Christ always Gives me the VICTORY"...over sin, the flesh, the world, and the devil.

He then said this...

"I can do ALL things through Christ".

See, you got stuck in the first part of Paul's teaching, and didnt study your bible and find the rest.
Paul continued to write MORE< and said...the born again are "freed from sin".

See all that?

You wont be confessing sin, if you are freed from it, and you have to read a lot more of Paul's doctrine to get there, if you are ever able to believe it.

Are you another person who does not listen? I have already told you, I am assuredly NOT a Calvinist. And you have no clue what denomination I am.

Paul is describing his life as a Christian. He wants to do good, but knows he falls short. ALL of us fall short. When we sin, we are to confess it and move on, knowing that we are forgiven in Christ.

Now you have to go to Philippians 3, and read that Paul said all that struggle that is law related to try to be righteous, is :""DUNG"

I'll repeat it: if you think you don't sin, you are deceived and the truth is not in you.
