Hello all

Looking for someone who has good knowledge in scripture.. I am looking for a passage in the Bible.. I thought it was in Ecclesiastes and i have just finished reading the Book but i could not find it from my memory the scripture gives the following message::

That it is bad to be Rich and it is bad to be poor because the rich man is fixated on money how to keep it because he has so much .. And the poor man is also in a bad position because he spends his time worried about money how he will get it.. Both the rich and the poor spend to much time obsessing over money and this takes them away from what is important .. The portion of scripture then says it is better to neither be rich or poor but to have enough money that one is not in poverty so one does not fixate on getting money out of need, but not have too much money so that ones money becomes a source of worry and you become fixated on how to manage and keep the riches..

I was sure this portion of scripture came from King Solomon.. But anyway if any of you Bible minded people know where this scripture is please reply and let me know.. :)

Thanks :D

Was it because the verse said, this too is meaningless?

8 "Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:"

Thanks samuel23 that says what i wanted but it is not the portion of scripture i was seeking.. The one i remember was a number of verses all together probably two.. But i can use that verse it serves the same purpose. :)

Proverbs 23:4-5;
"Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle."

I think Ecclesiastics 7 is a reflection or parable of the verse someone offered in Proverbs 30 a summary of the Ecclesiastic reference (The better things). Helping us to remember we must walk by faith and we should try and keep in mind that no ones knows what the future brings. Feed us the daily bread of His word so that we can lean on your understanding that we might find contentment in time of adversity as God sets prosperity against adversity that we would seek His consol in our time of need.

Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun. For wisdom is a "defence", and money is a "defence": but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked? In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

Hello all

Looking for someone who has good knowledge in scripture.. I am looking for a passage in the Bible.. ...
BibleGateway.com has a searchable Bible in any of about 40 English translations. I usually start with either the NIV or the KJV, because most of the Scripture I've memorized comes from one of those two.

I found this while searching. It's not it, but I thought it was interesting.

Ecclesiastes 6:2
New American Standard Bible
a man to whom God has given riches and wealth and honor so that his soul lacks nothing of all that he desires; yet God has not empowered him to eat from them, for a foreigner enjoys them. This is vanity and a severe affliction.

This one is interesting too.

Ecclesiastes 2:26
New American Standard Bible
For to a person who is good in His sight He has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, while to the sinner He has given the task of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who is good in God's sight. This too is vanity and striving after wind.

Ahh I see right on... :)

There are probably afew teachings on what your asking for, though the ones below here might not be the exact verses your looking for but IMO it is similier.

James 1
9The brother in humble circumstances should exult in his high position. 10But the one who is rich should exult in his low position, because he will pass away like a flower of the field. 11For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its flower falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

Maybe this link will help, it gives a basic list of similar scriptures:

Could you remember the exact wording, or a couple of words in the right order? Then Google it and it will hopefully come up
