Again a doctrinal teaching by those who are not baptized in the Holy Spirit and do not pray in tongues.
Thus there is no truthful understanding of the scriptures and of the first century Christian life: that all converts were expected to
become disciples of Christ by water and Holy Spirit baptism, and that the sign of speaking in new tongues would follow.

Also in the Spirit-filled church there are nine gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed to the saints as needed for the individual and
collective edifying of the body of Christ; one of which is prophecy.
Many times over through the gift of prophecy God confirms the sign of speaking (praying) in what we call tongues as his God-given
spiritual language that communicates far more than we can understand or know of to God.
Praying in the Holy Spirit is praying with faith and power, for we truly submit to the Spirit of God and yield our self-will over to the
work of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Praying in the Spirit delivers numerous miracles, healings, and blessings.

You have been totally brainwashed. Your understanding of Scripture is zero.
I am leaning toward the fact that that so call church you represent is nothing more than a cult.
Everyone on this forum should ignore everything you say and pray for your deliverance.

Good grief … what can I about this?
So obviously there are no gifts of the Holy Spirit in your church; that is sad, very sad.
If another church has doctrine and testimonies equivalent to the first church of Acts and the Epistles then they must be a cult !!!
God obviously does not speak to your congregation as you do not properly conduct the voice gifts of the Holy Spirit as laid out in
scripture.
We fulfill scripture and operate the gift of diversity of tongues followed by interpretation up to three times in succession;
this is followed by up to three gifts of prophecy where God speaks to his church - the body of Christ.

26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation.
Let all things be done for building up.
27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret.
29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said.

Oh well and how well can you communicate to God without understanding? In the Bible when God communicate with his servant or prophets and vice versa, it always be on the ground they understood each other in the language of God which is also the language of men...sounds mystery?

And in reply to @SpoonJuly
Pentecostal churches are not cults.
We are a church that preaches the word of God and encourage people to become converted to discipleship in Christ Jesus in like
manner to what we can all read in our New Testaments.

37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins,
and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Acts 2:
17 And these signs shall accompany those who believe: in my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak in new tongues;
18 they shall pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they shall lay their hands
on the sick, and they shall recover.”
19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.
Mark 16:

Oh well and how well can you communicate to God without understanding?
But as Paul writes I can pray with understanding and I can pray in the Spirit.
I do not need to know the content of what the Spirit prays on my behalf only that I am communicating directly to both Jesus and
my Father through prayer. The results of much answered prayer is confirmation of both scripture and my worship …

14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him
a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

Yes those without the indwelling Holy Spirit and unable to pray in tongues certainly misunderstand the scriptures on
praying in the Spirit.
Do you believe that 'those' are all unsaved ?

John 4:
No the passage to which you loosely refer is all about speaking and praying with understanding.

1 Cor 14: 6 ¶ Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

15 ¶ What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

Paul exhorts the believers at Corinth to pray in the Holy Spirit and to pray with understanding. There is no encouragement to pray without understanding.

11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

Verse 11 clearly expresses the message that understanding is essential.

A cult doctrine is non biblical. The only concrete way to establish truth is to seek out what was first delivered to the saints/disciples.

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Jude 3

The baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues was first delivered to the disciples on the Day of Pentecost. And later, Paul explained the proper use and need for Spiritual gifts which include tongues.

Those without the Holy Spirit are not saved. You are saying that only those who speak in tongues are saved and condemning all those who do not speak in tongues as lost souls. Congratulations.

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Cult or heresy that is the question. Certainly heresy is necessary for the formation of a cult. Pentecostalism as a cult probably not as it lacks the other characteristics necessary. It should be noted that Judaism considered Christianity to be a cult.

yeah ok

I've read all that a number of times in your posts and do not agree with your interpretation of Isaiah connecting it with tongues in the NT and stating that it was only for the unbelieving Jews

while you ignore anything Paul said

so let's just move on please. I do not have time to go over everything again and it would be fruitless anyway

have a great rest of the day
God does not speak to one nation and not another .If it applies to the flesh of a Jew it applies to the flesh of a gentile. Christians do no wrestle against flesh and blood (Jew against gentile) the temporal seen.

They who previous were lame now can walk by the unseen eternal (faith) . They who were spiritual blind can see .Those who were deaf are given ears to hear. Those who did not offer the gospel prior, speak a new tongues, the words of Christ's gospel. To the lepers (dead flesh no sensitivity to the Spirit. ) they are given new life sensitivity to the work of the Holy Spirit in them He has not left us as orphans with no way to understanding parables .(2 Corinthian 4:18) The signified or poetic signature that God has spoken.

It would seem that you are trying to make the flesh of Christ profit for something, anything .Even though he replied . It is the eternal Spirit alone that can quicken our soul and give us spirit life. The temporal corrupted flesh profits for nada, nothing, zip . God is not a man as us never was never could be.

Once you connect the sign to the right group of people as those who refuse to hear prophecy in any manner to includes tongues as to what it confirms .People I would think would re-evaluate …. just exactly what it is they think they are confirming . They could be doing a work for the father of lies. (no sign gift ). And receiving a strong delusion from God so that they can continue to make his word to no effect through their oral tradition called a sign gift. Christ calls a sign curse. Which one do you think it represents a curse or a blessing?

2 Thessalonians 2:8-11 King James Version (KJV)And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Its easy to pray in the Spirit that indwells the believer in these bodies of death. You don't have to first pray like gassing up for a auto going on a trip and then he will come.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Just let go and let God have his desire. See how easy that was?

Well if there is no understanding coming from what they say "unknown sounds"?. Who do they go to find the private interpretation? Waggles? Can Waggles confirm the sign ?
