I think that assisted suicide, like abortion, is an abomination. However I believe that the best Christian response to both is evangelism. I believe that once a person is saved they are much less likely to resort to abortion or suicide than an unsaved person facing the same difficulties.

Assisted suicide is the same as assisted murder. Only God can decide when someone dies. He does do so through people granted this authority- such as police, judges, and armies. But for a person to make the decision to take human life on their own will is murder- even for police, while working, who are not doing so in the line of duty.

Suicide is self-murder, you are not your own god- to decide for yourself whether you live or die. You did not create yourself, and have no right to destroy yourself- just as you have no right to destroy another person. This life is a test, suicide fails that test, and puts you in a much greater, and more importantly, a permanent torment. Suicide is not the answer.

Both Judas and Peter betrayed God. Peter repented, Judas committed suicide. Peter will spend an eternity in heaven, and Judas an eternity in hell. So what is to become of the one who helps Peter repent compared to the one who helps Judas commit suicide? They share in the reward or in the guilt.

Those who break God's laws because the laws of their land said they could, will not be excused from His judgement and wrath.
