After salvation your mind will become the most important component you will have to understand the things of God.
The mind must be renewed to the Christ that is in you.
That is where all learning takes place, the cross has taken care of the spirit of man, 1 Corinthians 6:17
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
Now the mind becomes a determining factor in your walk with God. Paul introduces the believer to Christ and how we recieve and understand the new life.
Understanding that life has very little to do with what you do religiously, it has everything to do with what you know.
Paul's big push if you will, was mind renewal, Romans 12:2
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I don't really know what other Christians think about mind renewal, but me on a personal level I thought maybe it was getting smarter in the scriptures, or my fellowship time and prayer time I spent with the lord.
Those are important things we do but the believers renewed mind has come to see Christ as their only life, Gal. 2:20.
The born again have no previous life now, they have one life and that life is Christ.
Thank god that a person who may have done or been victim to the evil's of this world has no past.
Or it may have not been a life that was not that extreme but still not being able to put life together is stressful at times to say the least.
You will always have memories of what you were before your new birth and could possibly still struggle with it.
But a believer can not say, I struggle with sin the same sins I have always struggled with. It's like the Alcoholic that stands and says I'm an Alcoholic. That is not true, the mind of that person has not been renewed at least in that area.
That goes for drugs or any kind of perversion, manipulation or cheating your way through society.
It's a mind issue, granted it may be a large issue for you but it is totally mind given to body issue.
You are complete in Christ who is your life, Col. 2:10
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
I have known people that go to prison, and they had Christ in them. Christians can do evil with Christ in them if they do not know He is in them.
I have had people tell me that it took prison for me to understand Christ as my life, that is extreme reality.
Religion says "if they were Christians they would not go to prison." If you believe as religion you need to rethink that, you do not understand Christianity.
That fact has to catch up with your understanding or no real Change happens for humanity as far as lifestyle goes.
Christianity catches a lot of bad rap because of their unrenewed mind, the world looks at some and sees no diffence.
It is all a mind issue and rightly dividing soul and spirit is not something very many Christians are able to do, at least in the arenas I have been in.
Dividing soul and spirit is not taught by the teachers today, when the fact is it is the 101 for Christian growth.
Without it You will not grow up into Him who is your life.
Nothing sadder than a believer that has been in the Lord for years and has not grown and matured in the deep things of God.
They still contend for the things of a babe.
Yieldedness and revelation will bring renewal, quit being right all the time even if you are, it does not matter, what matters is the HolySpirit can lead you to understand the things God has prepared for you, 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
