The Bible includes a list of a whole host of things that will separate us from God ... murder, adultery, lying, you name it. That list includes a lot of things that each and every one of us is guilty of being and doing. That's why on our own under these laws no one was saved. That's why salvation comes by grace and grace alone. NOTHING WE DO outside of believing and confessing Christ determines our salvation. Because even if there's just the slightest little itsy bitsy way we could screw that up you know we would. Suicide is a sin, and like the sins of murder adultery lies et all they do not matter to our salvation as long as we believe and confess in the Lord.

NOW. That's not the end of the story. They do matter after that. Jesus tell us we will be judged according to our works when we meet up. Even tho we are saved we will still suffer some loss from our works of murder adultery suicide etc. As well as reward for our faithful works. So there is still an accountability and loss for committing suicide, but that does not include your salvation.

Suicide does not condemn you to hell. But there will still be an accounting before God for it.

I think a bit of perspective is called for here:
People who commit suicide are not normal they are ill, extremely ill with what for them will be a fatal illness.
They are not thinking normally, if they were, they would not be committing suicide.
The depression that leads to suicide is a real disease.

I just want to know this - who believes that dying of a myocardial infarction is in itself a sin?
This despite the very real known risk factors are largely preventable.
Behaviour modification such as eating less to lose weight, avoiding certain foodstuffs, not smoking, etc are all crucial here.
Yet a significant proportion of individuals with coronary artery disease or at risk for it do nothing to help themselves!

Compare this with severe endogenous depression where I am not aware of any specific preventable risk factors (if any psychiatrists are reading this feel free to contradict me if any contemporary research says otherwise), yet we want to condemn those suffering severe depression who manage to complete a suicide attempt.

Depression is a potentially fatal disease and a completed suicide is the fatal end-result of depression.

Those who want to go ahead and condemn people for having a disease that kills them please step up now....

So I have confused about suicide. Now I was told that if you commit suicide you instantly go to hell which i know is a Catholic doctrine but I also have talked with many Christians who believe the same. Now according to a lot of Catholics if you even try to kill yourself your only destination is hell, and my friend when I asked her about suicide and hell she said yes if you kill yourself you go to hell because you cannot ask for forgiveness when your dead( she believes if you don't repent for every sin you make you can lose your salvation) But even though i wanted to explain to her that isn't how grace works i couldn't because sadly she cannot be talked to like that she gets very emotional and frustrated and has a heart problem.

Here is the thing though, I have never found in scripture that suicide is instant condemnation. I do wonder how things would have turned out for me when i tried to kill myself, i was just saved but things at my house were so deeply depressing and I was so alone that I couldn't deal with it anymore and even though I was afraid I would go to hell in my tears I begged for God to forgive me and attempted ti kill myself of course luckily I failed.

But many people commit suicide because of deep pain and sadness loneliness and heart ache, if one was saved but killed themselves because of the heaviness of all this would god since he knows more than anyone how deeply pain and sadness can cut you have mercy on them or would he send them to fires?
No one can lose their salvation but will they be raptured for not trusting Jesus to walk them through this valley of death?

Is it not a shame when a believer who committed suicide see Jesus, and knew right then that he or she should have trusted Him to help them through their difficult times just as He has helped other believers under the same afflictions?

My life was taken away from me; I cannot have relationships; I cannot have a job; I am seemingly persecuted when I go out every time, being made sport of, I have been humiliated & defamed even as a christian and so what is the point?

The point is to trust Jesus Christ as my Good Shepherd and my Friend for He is in me and is with me always. Trusting Him to help me to be content; to take each moment as is, to thank Him for carrying me thru each moment when I am being made sport of, and leaning on Him to help me forgive them for they know not what they do. I would rather depart but so did Paul. So I see this as an opportunity to get to know Jesus more as I see Him walk me through this valley of death.

Indeed, one time, I had awakened to hearing church bells ringing at 3:15 A.M. I had thought that was weird and someone is going to get in trouble for doing that. Then I noticed a pattern to the ringing of the bells. It was playing the theme from M.A.S.H. I got up to wake my folks but they did not hear it. So I went back to bed, and as I had laid there, I plugged my only good ear ( it has tinnitus which is a constant ringing in the ear ) as my other ear was deaf several times to make sure it was not in my head. It wasn't, but eventually, it was. I started to pray then and I do not know how long I was praying with tears streaming down my face for the Lord to help get rid of it, but I fell asleep & morning came. It was the morning news on TV that had announced a trivia that the original title to the theme from M.A.S.H. was "Suicide Is Painless". How's that for a twilight zone moment? Creepy and yet the church bells was no longer in my head playing that theme from M.A.S.H.

The fact that the devil wanted me to commit suicide, pretty much is a reason not to do it too.

This brings to mind a story about this young lady who attempted suicide and had an after death experience. Anyway she went to this horrible place and while there a voice spoke to her and said, why did you do it? She begin to explain how bad her life had been and the voice said to her, is this better? The voice went on to explain to her that life is suppose to be difficult. To that I say amen, this life is difficult, part of what makes it hard for us to handle is that we have been feed a boatload of lies by the world and even by part of the church that we are suppose to sail through this life enjoying pleasure after pleasure and making a great name for ourselves because of all our accomplishments. Paul said that we are called to tribulation. Of course we can have some good times to, however trouble is always on the horizon.

You say amen to a voice that says life is supposed to be difficult?

Do you really think God would say "Your life is meant to be difficult?

If we go round preaching a God who says that then not many people are going to respond.

Can you post me the verse where Paul says we are called to tribulation.
I would like to have a look at it.

They? Yes they... because if suicide equals hell, that means ALL unrepeated sin equals hell.
Dunno about you all, but I rarely realize I sin while I am busy doing it..... so what if you sin and die before you realize?
Instant hell? Makes no sense whatsoever!
It is written no fornicator will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. So then Bob who professes to be Christian, is having a sexual relationship with another committing fornication. Bob has a heart attack in the process of having a sexual relationship and dies. Did Bob repent of his wicked perverted deed? Was Bob sorry for sin that he committed? Must a person repent of a particular deed in order to be forgiven of it? Or do you think i can now say a prayer "God forgive me for all the sins that I am going to commit until I die" And therefore never have to repent again and live however i so choose to live whether in wickedness or holiness?

A man cheats on his wife and afterwards repents of it. He then cheats on his wife the next night and again repents of it. He continue to cheat on his wife without ever ceasing from doing so, and he continues to repent every single time he commits adultery. This man then dies and stands before God and Judgement Day, are you saying this man will not be judged as an Adultery because he repented after every time he committed adultery? Seriously?

Anyone who continues to lie, even though they repent of the lying, will be judged a LIAR.
Anyone who continues to fornicate, even though they repent of the fornication, will be judged a fornicator.
Anyone who continues to hate, even though they repent of the hating, will be judged as a Hater.
Anyone who continues to commit adultery, even though they repent of the adultery, will be judged as an Adulterer.
Anyone who continues to steal, even though they repent of the stealing, will be judged a Thief.
Anyone who continues to Kill, even though they repent of killing people, will be judged a Murderer.
Anyone who continues to sin, even though they repent of the continued sinning, will be judged as Living in Sin.

1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? To receive forgiveness for any particular sin, a person must Truly repent of that sin. To Truly Repent of a particular sin, you no longer continue to do that particular sin.

Anyone who ceases to lie, after they repent of the lying, is no longer a LIAR.
Anyone who ceases to fornicate, after they repent of the fornication, is no longer a fornicator.
Anyone who ceases to hate, after they repent of the hating, is no longer a Hater.
Anyone who ceases to commit adultery, after they repent of the adultery, is no longer an Adulterer.
Anyone who ceases to steal, after they repent of the stealing, is no longer a Thief.
Anyone who ceases to Kill, after they repent of killing people, is no longer a Murderer.
Anyone who ceases to sin, after they repent of the sinning, is no longer Living in Sin.

A person who repents of a particular sin, KNOWING full well they will continue to do that sin over and over and over again, is NOT Sorry for that sin, these ask for forgiveness in vain. Godly sorrow receives forgiveness from God. A person who is truly sorry for a particular sin will pray thus

"Father please forgive me of that wicked thing, i will try to NEVER do it again" = Godly Sorrow.

But those who pray knowing they will continue to commit that sin continually pray thus

"Father please forgive me of my sins, in Jesus Name I pray, amen." = Not very sorry, because they know they will continue to obey satan and continue to do that particular sin over and over and over again = NOT FORGIVEN.

That sin that you do continually over and over again, try praying for God to help you cease from it.

Heb_12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

How many Suicides would have been prevented if people knew and understood the TRUTH, that they would go to Hell if they did so? What then? If by committing suicide i can go to Heaven, why would i not do that right this second? Oh, because as long as i breathe God has a plan for me. What then? God plans for a person to be born and commit suicide? Or is suicide something that the devil tries to convince people to do? Does God whisper to a person "Kill yourself, the pain will then stop" ? Or does satan try to convince a person to kill themselves? Who you obey is your Master. Therefore if a person commits suicide, 1) they are not forgiven (because you can't repent of sins that has not yet been committed) and 2) they obeyed the voice of demons and not the voice of God.

Also, i would like to point out if a person does commit suicide, that does not mean there is no hope at all for that soul. Because Hell is not yet created, and Judgment Day is not yet upon us.
