I was having a discussion at work with someone and they told me that the Bible doesn't specifically mention that suicide is wrong. I couldn't find one that specifically staes that. Is there one.

Suicide is the KILLING of oneself. Thou shalt NOT kill. as in yourself or anyone else...or even an animal if you are not going to use it for food.

Killing an animal might be a waste, but it never qualifies as a murder. Humans are made in the image of God. We are a higher class of being. Jesus did not atone for the animals but for man.

Complicated subject, I'll say. Mark 12:31 has Jesus giving the second most important commandment, which is "Love your neighbor as yourself". This includes your family and friends; if you're thinking of committing suicide, is that showing love? Is taking from them their loved one following this commandment?

I appreciate the responses, however none of them answer my question. I'm not questioning it myself. I'm already convinced. I would just like to have a reference, if that is possible. One that clearly states that suicide is wrong. Not thou shall not kill.

If you shall not kill that includes suicide. Why would someone think that it is wrong to murder someone else, but that it is ok if you are killing yourself?
