There seems to be a major misconception on this site by some when it comes to salvation in the O.T. I have heard numerous people say one could not be saved in the O.T. or Jesus is not found in the O.T. or some flippant false statement that faith plus works were required in the O.T. for one to be saved. This false....as we look to the following truths, be open to learning and instruction and simply accept these biblical truths.

a. JESUS said, "IN the volume of the book it is written of ME"
b. JESUS said, "Search the scriptures, for they are they that testify of ME" <-N.T. not written yet
c. Abraham told the rich man that his brothers had the LAW and the Prophets to KEEP them from coming to the place of torment

NOTE the AWESOME pictures of truth

1. God shedding the blood of animals and COVERING Adam and Eve's shame
2. The promise of a redeemer in Genesis 3:15
3. Abel in faith offering a lamb without blemish and spot by shedding blood
4. Noah in the ark <--sealed within and without with pitch
5. Noah sacrificing a CLEAN animal and offering the blood after being spared
6. Abraham offering Isaac
7. The institution of the Passover and shed blood and God passing over
8. The Brazen Serpent <--JESUS even references this one
9. The sacrifices and offerings under the law and what they point to
10. Rahab and the scarlet thread by faith and being preserved in the destruction of Jericho (She is in the lineage of JESUS)
11. Job KNEW his redeemer lives and would see him with his own eyes after he had rotted in the ground (he understood the resurrection)
12. David speaking of HIS salvation in the present tense in the Psalms
13. Ruth and the KINSMEN redeemer (she was a GENTILE)
14. The scape goat in the wilderness and OUR SINS being removed and forgotten
15. The ark of the covenant and the ANGELS not being able to see the LAW inside which condemns when the BLOOD was applied
16. MOSES (the LAW) not delivering the people but taking them RIGHT to the promise land and it taking a SAVIOR (Joshua) to deliver
17. The 53rd chapter of Isaiah pointing to the suffering messiah and us being HEALED by his stripes
18. The Priesthood of Melchizedek as referenced in Hebrews
19. Jonah three days and three nights in the whale's belly <--Referenced by JESUS
20. Zechariah and the PIERCED one
21. Habakkuk the JUST shall shall live by his faith
22. Moses striking the rock which represented Christ and LIVING WATER <---JESUS references this and this water springing up in us and it representing eternal life and never thirsting again
23. The name Emmanuel and GOD with US and the concept of this truth

THESE are off the top of my head......NO ONE will ever convince me that an O.T. saint could not see or understand the truth of redemption by blood through faith from the O.T......the WHOLE bible points to CHRIST and being justified BY FAITH is woven throughout the whole BIBLE...there is a plethora of other truths and like I said these are just off the top of my head.......

The point is simple and yet rejected by any that place religiously inept conditions and or spiritual hoop jumping on being saved other than faith........the following is absolutely true.....

JESUS is found from the front to the back in the bible....and the same faith that saves in the N.T. is the same faith that saved in the O.T.

O.T. saints looked forward to the cross -----------> MESSIAH <------------------N.T. saints look back to the cross

It pleased God, by the foolishness of preaching to SAVE them that believe.

Think about this truth....JOB is the oldest book of the bible and HE UNDERSTOOD the resurrection. HE knew that he would SEE his savior/messiah with his OWN eyes after he had died and rotted in the ground.

I cannot believe how many "so called" believers today will say that JESUS or the resurrection and or the cross cannot be found in the O.T.....I heard a man that had been "PREACHING" 50 years say that he cannot find JESUS in the O.T.........can you imagine the ignorance of that statement when JESUS states clearly....IN THE VOLUME of the BOOK it is written of me <---TA Biblia --.>THE BOOK A.K.A. THE BIBLE

I agree 100% “ I would add that the ‘hidden mystery” aspect/ (no one could know it was christ who would come and die)

The OT was saved by faith, Evern david understood, sacrifice and burnt offering you did not desire. Adam and ever were not told to do these works. God just killed an animal and make skins to cover them (a symbol of us being covered by Christ)

The symbology in the OT is amazing when taken in context.

My only problem with this is the fact that in the O.T. the word Anointed is used 39 times in the O.T. and is translated Messiah 39 times in the Septuagint.......

The Greek Septuagint version of the Old Testament renders all thirty-nine instances of the Hebrew word for "anointed" (Mašíaḥ) as Χριστός (Khristós). The New Testament records the Greek transliteration Μεσσίας, Messias twice in John

Thats true

But if you look. The characteristics of the messiah/Christ and the characteristics of the suffering servant make it appear they are two different people. That is the hidden mystery, that we today now know. They were one person.

Its an awesome study if you look into it.

Some examples

The christ will be looked up to., worshiped. His kingdom will have no end, and he will rule the world

The suffering servant will be homely (not good to look on) be mocked, Have no kingdom, and he will die.

Yes...agreed and one of the reasons they misapply the 53rd chapter of Isaiah........It is funny to me....many people "in church" find the O.T. boring.....I love it.....even the "boring" genealogies speak........there is SOOOOOOOOO much to be discovered in the prophets, especially truths applicable to the end of the age.........I spend a lot of time studying the O.T..........and for sure if it can be found in the NEW it is found in picture/type and or shadow in the O.T. <---for the most part

Every example you have given is faith with works.
Seeing Gods heart and walking in it righteously, is Gods way.

21 "But if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die.
22 None of the offenses he has committed will be remembered against him. Because of the righteous things he has done, he will live.
Eze 18

24 "But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked man does, will he live? None of the righteous things he has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness he is guilty of and because of the sins he has committed, he will die.
Eze 18

Abraham was deemed righteous because
12 "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son."
Gen 22

4 I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed,
5 because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws."
Gen 26

9 The LORD will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the LORD your God and walk in his ways.
10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will fear you.
Deut 28

The reason we obey and follow is because we know love and who God is.

So many people are immediate to indicate how Israel was blinded by the veil of Moses when they heard the Law.

Those same types today are still blinded by that same veil caliming to understand yet neverhaving learned what the law teaches, and how Jesus, Yeshua has clarified everything about which laws are to be yet obeyed while having completed the lion's portion of them.

No man will ev er earn salvation, not by obeying thelaw for that is his due, and not by any works he can imagine. Salvation is a gift that comes witht he gift of faith.

That gift of faith should not beburied in the earth simply to become dirty. Our faith must increase as we follow and imitat our Savior.

The great shamehere is how many equate doing the worksgiven us by God with atttempting to earn our Salvation. These are the truly blindones.

God bless all inJesus, Yeshua, amen.

Wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove ;) HAHA good idea.......

One time in a machine shop I was working in managing about 10 wild youth that had never heard the truth once in their lives.....some ants had been attacking a few pieces of dog food and were decimating it and removing it for winter and as I stood there watching these ants one young kid came up and I pointed out the ants and said...You know....this is in the bible.....and he inquired and I took out a small N.T. that actually had the Psalms and Proverbs in it as well.....I showed him the sets of verses in Proverbs about 4 small things being exceedingly wise and the ants preparing their meat in due season.....this allowed me to in turn go to John chapter three and witness to this young man....

Every example you have given is faith with works. Seeing Gods heart and walking in it righteously, is Gods way.
You need to be clear about the role of faith and the role of works in a believer's life. Evidently you are not.

So we need to firstly understand why God justifies a sinner by His grace APART from works (whether OT or NT saints).

1. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

2. All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags in the sight of God.

3. Even if we gave our lives to pay for our sins, we would not be free from the taint of sin and guilt.

4. Only Jesus of Nazareth was a totally righteous Man who was (and is) also God. Only He obeyed the Law perfectly and then took the curse of the Law upon Himself on our behalf. And only His blood could purchase our redemption. Only His death could be accepted as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of humanity.

5. Therefore the basis of salvation is absolute faith in Christ alone and His finished work of redemption + NOTHING. Just as the Israelites were to simply look upon the Brazen Serpent in the wilderness and live, all sinners are to simply believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Which also means receiving Him as Lord and Savior.

7. Good works and righteousness must follow salvation. If they are absent, there was no genuine salvation. Just as if there is no repentance, there is no genuine salvation.

It is like some here read without any discernment whatsoever at all.............I can type the sky is blue and they will read and respond to me saying it is neon green........
Then they will lie when you call them out on it, and claim they said it was blue you just did not hear them correctly
