2. The problem with discipline

Joseph Prince says that Believers are never punished for their sins
"You will never find an example of God punishing a believer for his sins in the new covenant." ( chapter 5, p 57, Destined to Reign)
There is no tension between temporal and eternal punishment. The Scriptures speak of both. The eternal punishment for sins has been taken care of by Christ at the cross. However there are several examples of God's discipline of His children in the NT.
Examples from Scripture

Hebrews 12:5-6 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives."
"chastise" in the Greek means "to scourge"
Acts 5:3-6 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God." When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard of it. The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him.
1 Corinthians 11:28-30
Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.

They gave a HUGE amount of money to the church, what was their SIN? They didn't sin..........they operated in EVIL.

Perfect example for those who are relying on their works and the "good" side of their flesh. They gave a huge amount of money. They were not out sinning like hell and committing overt sin....................they lied about the "good" that they did.

Wish you could see this. The "good" works you are relying on are from your flesh and you are LYING to the Spirit.

I think Ananias and Sapphira were more than scourged or punished. I see their death as a final judgment upon them. When I read that story, I see no indication that either was a true Christian. Peter's rebuke doesn't leave me with the sense that this was only an earthly punishment. Their sin was so egregious and disrespectful to the Holy Spirit, I have a hard time believing they had ever been truly born of God. I don't think that someone who has ever truly known God could be capable of such a sin. They showed absolutely no respect or fear of God.

I would agree however with your overall point that discipline in the NT for believers did/ can occur. Sometimes we shorten our earthly life because of sin. I do think that discipline or chastening of believers is to steer the believer and guide them. It may appear severe, but the correction is for the believer's benefit and done out of love. Discipline should be seen as a positive. God only chastens his Children.

The parable of the sower tells us much about how the Word (gospel) is received. If the seed germinated at all then it was growing in their hearts..... it was received & accepted.

Joseph Prince Ministries plagiarized the author of this devotion!

I decided to Google search this phrase:
"Many girls are giving away their virginity because they need to feel wanted and loved."

Guess what I found: multiple sites were using this same devotion. Many of these sites are plagiarizing the original author because they're not posting the author's name.

Joseph Prince Ministries plagiarized either a free publication or another author's book!

Stephen - a cautionary note - the phrase "Many girls are giving away their virginity because they need to feel wanted and loved" is probably a social observation certainty, which I could have said this going back to the 70's.

I would have been surprised if on google there were not more hits. Teenage pregnancies which
are very common, I know 3 girls where this took place and the phrase fitted them 100%, over a
40 year period.

"i know why you are here and i will not fall into your trap trust me!!"

The above comment is when people start to harden their hearts against a particular message
or way of looking at scripture, because they believe teachers should be trusted and the Lord
less so.

Another phrase is "Satan knows the bible better than anyone"

Praise the Lord that so was Jesus slandered.
At least their conscience and position is being challenged, but it also shows they have no intention
of listening. The term caloused hearts, actually works, though is harsh, the level of rebellion and
resistance indicates nothing more than this.

Someone on another thread suggested this post belonged on this thread, so here it is:

This slander has been shown to be NOT true. Hopefully this will help us to stop maligning others in the body of Christ.

This is a perfect example of having malice towards others distort what we are seeing and we have a Hebrews 12:15 situation.

Hebrews 12:15 (NASB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled
;

The devotional referred to is from the 2008 October 22 - daily bread - NOT Joseph Prince's devotion. The deceit being done here is unbelievable. This kind of slander and malice only causes division and strife amongst the believers.

This continued slander has been reported. This should not be happening amongst us. - and yet even after showing the truth on another thread and that it is a lie - it is still being deceitfully done in this thread. What causes such malice-filled and deceitful behavior?

Check out exactly what happened in the article.

Unfortunately they have read the post wrong from the bike forum in Singapore....which is where the author of the OP has the church with 33,000 members in it..

If you look at the quote - it is actually talking about the verse at the bottom of the post and NOT the devotional from the OP. His/her post is the 7th from the bottom on the link below..

Bikers Fellowship [Archive] - Page 6 - Singapore Bikes Forums

Here is the direct quote that came after they had posted the same devotion by Prince.

Hi guys,
just to add on edward's sharing.

Deu 33:12

"Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields Him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders"

This was given to me by a preacher and it touched me deeply. Today while i was reading the daily bread, this verse came out again and i find that the example they gave on daily bread was very god, so here's the link to it.

Daily Bread (http://www.rbc.org/devotionals/
our-daily-bread/2008/10/22/devotion.aspx)

The person ( redname ) here was referring to this scripture below as you can see from his or her post.. ( I can't tell if redname is male or female )

"Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields Him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders" Deut. 33: 12

This is the verse that the poster was referring to as being a devotional and NOT the OP as has been slandered that it was....

Here is the link which shows what the devotional was all about and as you can see - nothing to do with the OP - daily bread 2008 October 22.

http://odb.org/2008/10/22/on-his-shoulders/

This devotional has the scripture ( Deut. 33:12 ) that the poster was referring to.
There I find rest, for “the beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by Him, who shelters him all the day long; and he shall dwell between His shoulders” (Deut. 33:12).

So, this was
not plagiarised as was being accused and thus what has happened is that this thread was totally derailed by those that have malice towards someone in the body of Christ despite numerous attempts to ask them to stop.

4. The problem with money

In chapter one of Destined to Reign, Prince states that God calls His people to enjoy wealth.
"You are destined to reign in life. You are called by the Lord to be a success, to enjoy wealth, to enjoy health and to enjoy a life of victory. It is not the Lord's desire that you live a life of defeat, poverty, and failure."
This is heresy. The Bible is against storing up treasures on earth, and seeking worldly pleasure.
Examples from Scripture

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
1 Timothy 3:2-3 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
Matthew 6:19-21 Lay Up Treasures in Heaven "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Luke 12:15 And he said to them, "Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
Jude 1:11 Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam's error and perished in Korah's rebellion.
Keep in mind, Joseph Prince has no problem calling himself a Word of Faith preacher. Here are some of the heretical teachings of the Word of Faith movement.
1. Adam was created a little god.
2. God used the "force of faith" to create the universe, and continue to use the "force of faith" to accomplish His work on earth today.
3. Man sold his godhood to Satan when he fell, making Satan the god of this world.
4. Because of this God lost all control in the earth realm and is reliant on man. God needs an invitation by man in order to work out His plans.
5. According to Kenneth Copeland, this made God "the biggest failure in all the Bible."
6. The reason it took Christ so long to come is because it took God this long to find people to cooperate with His plan to take back control of the earth from Satan.
7. Christ's atoned for our sins in hell and not on the cross.
8. Jesus ceased to be the Son of God at the cross, taking on the nature of Satan.
9. Jesus was born again in hell, in other words, He had to be saved just as we do today.
10. Because God conquered Satan through the death of Christ, we are entitled to health, wealth, and prosperity.
11. The Christian is now a little god.

As you can see, these are dangerous teachings. Does Joseph Prince believe these teachings? I must assume so since he calls himself a Word of Faith preacher. Even if he doesn't believe the majority of these teachings, he's still guilty by association since he promotes and preaches in their churches.

You Are God’s Beloved

Ephesians 1:6
6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

At the Jordan river, Jesus heard His Father say to Him, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:22) Later, in the wilderness, Jesus heard the devil say to Him, “If You are the Son of God…” (Luke 4:3)

Notice that the devil not only questioned Jesus’ sonship, but he also dropped the word “beloved” when he said to Jesus, “If You are the Son of God…” You see, the devil cannot remind you that you are God’s beloved because when you know this truth, whatever he wants to bring against you will not succeed!

Many girls are giving away their virginity because they need to feel wanted and loved. And young boys join gangs to feel accepted because they have been rejected and made to feel worthless by others.

But when you know that you are God’s beloved, no temptation can succeed against you, not even the “giants” who may taunt you. Consider David who slew Goliath. “David” in Hebrew means “beloved”. It takes a David to knock down a giant. In other words, it takes someone who knows that he is God’s beloved to win the fights of life!

You are God’s beloved not because of what you do. Christ did everything. He is God’s Beloved. But God put you in Christ. That is why you are “accepted in the Beloved”. And what God said to Jesus, He says to you today: “You are My beloved son. In you, I am well pleased.”

So if the devil tells you, “Hey, you call yourself ‘God’s beloved’ after what you just did?” have the assurance that it is not based on what you have done, but what Christ has done. And you are still God’s beloved because you are in Christ!

When you say that, I believe the devil screams in frustration because he has no power over you when you are conscious that you are God’s beloved. There is truly a place of safety when you know that you are His beloved.

My friend, we are not being proud when we call ourselves God’s beloved. How can we boast when we know that it is God’s grace that has made us accepted in the Beloved!
The second posting was where somebody added a second scripture to the original post.

I had responded to this post of the slander of plagiarizing in the other thread with this statement below. You can continue to slander others in the body of Christ if you want but it is only revealing malice towards others. Your really need to stop this as it causes strife and division.

There is absolutely no proof whatsoever of this plagiarization and it is slander against a member of the body of Christ.

Here is what I said concerning this slander that Prince plagiarized from "edwardlong" on a Singapore bike forum.

Quote:

You are slandering a believer in Christ because of a devotional found on a bike forum in Singapore?

This is the home city of New Creation church. Did you ever think of the possibility that out of the 33,000 members in that church they had a devotional book by their pastor before it became wide spread to the public worldwide?...or that he had been sending out emails to his members on a daily basis to encourage them in our Lord Jesus Christ and to tell them that they are loved by Him? -
before a book was released?

Unquote:

I will let the mods deal with this behavior and trust the Holy Spirit in them to do what is necessary.

Amen, and maybe, just maybe the mods will go all the way back to his very first threads and see how many of those OP's are just more plagiarized copy pastes from other authors. Expose the darkness! :)

It's funny as I never looked at Singapore before until just the other day and I found a forum where the citizens didn't quite know if Singapore is both a city and a country....lol....that made me laugh.

As, it is Singapore is very small - 277 square miles.

New Creation church has satellite meeting places all over Singapore ( Whether city or country - looks like it is called by both names ) and has 33,000 members which I am sure get regular emails from the church to encourage their members in the Lord ( before these were made into a book where we all could benefit from them ) and where this "edwardlong" most likely got this devotional from and posted it in the Singapore bike forum.

I am encouraged that there are many Christians there where they would be encouraging people about the love of the Lord for them on a bike forum. Exciting isn't it? Praise God!

I have never looked at this church before all the accusations against it. They have about 8 different sites for their members all over Singapore.

New Creation Church - Cathay Causeway Point

If the mods think that it is appropriate behavior on these forums to post "unproven accusations" about plagiarization against others in the body of Christ to malign them - then I will acknowledge their authority to make such decisions and not speak of this type of behavior directly to anyone again and just let people slander others all they want.

I do NOTfor one minute believe that they would condone such behavior. I have total faith in the Holy Spirit within them to give them the wisdom that is needed in this area.

You have a great day and God bless you!

Instead of pointing out everyone who has false doctrine maybe you should concentrate on true doctrine....

Might be more constructive.

Pastor Joseph Prince's Salary

$550 Thousand Per Year

Pastor Joseph Prince net worth and salary: Pastor Joseph Prince is a Singaporean pastor who has a net worth of $5 million dollars. However, according to the church bookkeeping, he has not received any money from the congregation since 2009.

Speaking of serving Masters->>>>>>>Matthew 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Matthew 19:24
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Whoops, Joseph must have missed that one. Or perhaps he just "filtered" it out through his special "lens." :)

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Matthew 6:19 "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:"

Whoops, Joseph must have "filtered" that one out with his special "filter" as well. :)

Luke 6:24
But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

What JP can't double dip? LOL :)

1 Peter 4:1
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

Ah...nope, just not seeing that in Mr. Prince either. :)

Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Nope, not seeing that either in Mr. Prince. :)

This has been shown a few times that the above statement is false. ...and yet - it is still posted as if being true.

Here is the real truth so that the slander and malice can be kept down to a minimum.

Here is the real news story.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/new-creat...est-pastors--lifestyle-website-072923468.html

Here is a highlight of it..

Quote:

[UPDATED on 22 Oct 2014 at 9am: Adding response from New Creation Church]

Pastor Joseph Prince's net worth is ‘substantially lower’ than the US$5 million (S$6.3 million) alleged by online reports, said a statement from New Creation Church.

The statement posted on 21 October on the church’s website added that the church is “disappointed with the manner in which the reports were generated and circulated without proper effort having being made to validate the facts”.

Earlier this month, US-based luxury lifestyle website RichestLifestyle.com named the New Creation Church founder and senior pastor as the 10th richest pastor in the world.

Its list puts 51-year-old Prince, a Singaporean, at number 10, with an estimated net worth of about S$6.3 million and an annual salary of close to S$700,000. According to a report by CelebrityNetWorth.com, however, Prince has not been on the church's payroll since 2009, a detail that was later confirmed by the church's most recent statement.

And yet..malice and slander is still being posted????...this typwe of behavior should not be names amongst us saints.

isn't there enough bad stuff to expose in this world other than calling out some guy for his teaching.
