What is the Royal Law according to the scriptures, James 2:8-9 says "If you really fulfill the royal law according to the scripture," "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

John 13:34-35
Jesus Gave us a Command, from which there is no retreat, and there is no room for debate,

It is a command and is the main focus of the New Covenant, Jesus says it, in John!

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Romans 5:8-9
But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. (Are any of us without sin yet?)

What does the word say we have been freed from, the Old Testament Law of Sin and death, or in other words, earning your own way to heaven!

It didn't work for us, but it did point us to Jesus, He is the one who has no sin, and He showed us the way to the Father, it is through Him!

Romans 5:13 says, For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. What does this mean?

Does this mean we can go on sinning?
No, our own hearts tell us we can not do that!
So the good fight of faith begins!

It is the righteousness of Jesus, we wear, not ours!
The truth is that we are all still sinners!

The truth is, God knew we would fall short,
Why can't people just face the truth,
We are all still sinners!
There is only one without sin, Jesus Christ!

We are commanded not to judge, but to Love!

We must lay aside denominations and focus on what we are commanded to do!

Love!

The focus must be love, it is what should bind us all together!

It's what the Body of Christ should be known by, our Love!

Why is it that the churches in the USA are known for their judgmental hearts and their unloving stone throwing?

(1 John 3:11-12) For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother.
And why did he murder his him?
Because his works were evil and his brothers righteous.

1John 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

He who does not love does not know God,
for God is love.

It is all about Love!

I think we all need to seek God about what love is and what it is not!

Why have so many churches missed the mark and fail to see what they are showing people is not the face of God!
It's because they try to act like they have no sin!
They are still hiding like Adam and Eve did!
Which is proof, they are still under the Old Covenant and not restored to right relationship with Jesus as the Head.
The fruit of knowing Jesus is freedom to love the way He loved us,
He laid His life down for the sinner!
He laid His life down for the ungodly!
He gives undeserved favor to sinners, grace!

I am a sinner!
Jesus is the way the truth and the life!
And love is the only proof there is of knowing Him!

No true believer who has been redeemed through the work of Christ is a "sinner" any longer. The idea of BEING a sinner is one's pattern of life. Upon obedience to the gospel we cease "living therein". Our "walk" changes from darkness to light.

Sin is committed by even the best believers but we are seeking to be conformed to the image of God's Son.

In the new testament we are commanded to fulfill the royal law of love!

Sin is violating the will of the commandment of God.

To break the commandment of love is every bit as sinful as transgressing the law of the Old Covenant!

Read 1John 1:7 The love walk cleanses us from sin,

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light,
We have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Faith works by Love Gal.5:6

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcised avails anything,
but faith working through love.

some times there is a danger that when it says ''X''in the Bible and it sounds different we ought to construct a huge theology based on it (royal law for example). I think its best just to say that James is NT wisdom litteratue and we ought to look at the entire book to see james' thought patterns. Royal law doesnt have any grand theological meaning to it rather itst eh sum of what we need to do to live a godly life.

We are to have faith in Gods love!

1 John 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.
God is Love, and he who abides in love abides in God,
And God in him.

Ephesians 3:17-19 That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;
That you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and the height-
to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all fullness of God.

Developing faith in God's love,

Is putting the Word first- not our feelings!

It is a choice to love!

When you think and meditate on God's love, fear will leave!

Fear is the only thing that will keep you from acting in love!

We must make a choice to believe and act on this love! (Grace)

Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything,
but faith working through love.

Jude 20-21 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith,
Praying in the Holy Spirit,
keep yourselves in the love of God,
looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
And walk in love,
as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us,
an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

We are to live our daily lives walking in love, not picking and choosing who is worthy of our love!

Christ died for all,

So my question here is, how could we ever judge a person as unworthy of our love,
If Jesus died for all!
He said, if you've done it unto the least of these, you've done it unto me!

We are commanded to love!

1 John 2:10 He who loves his brother abides in the light,
and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

So if we love, there is no cause for stumbling?

So love covers a multitude of sins!

1John 5:1-4 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God,
and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.
By this we know that we love the children of God,
When we love God and keep His commandments.
And His commandments are not burdensome.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
And this is the victory that has overcome the world------our faith.

God's will is for us to keep His commandments and His will in all things is directly connected to the command to love!

Ephesians 4:30-32 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
Even as God in Christ forgave you.

1Peter 4:7-9 But the end of all things is at hand;
therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
And above all things have fervent love for one another,
"For love will cover a multitude of sins"
Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

I don't understand what you are getting at jgrig2. Are you saying we are not obligated to love one another or that its just simlply part of what we are supposed to do as Christians?

What do you think the image of God's son is?

Obedience to the gospel is only done when you fulfill God's commandments of the New Covenant.

He commands us to Love God with all our hearts, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

If we are led by the Spirit there is no law to break, isn't that what the Word of God says?

If we believe on the name of Jesus we shall be saved?

The Word says we must not only believe in Jesus, but we must also love.

Without the fruit of love, who could say they know God?

We are not free to sin or do to things out of love!

We are led by the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Love!

We just need to learn how to love and that comes as He Loves us!

And the first step is to love yourself.

I think the first step would be to understand how God loves you.
1Cor.13 How God loves us, who God is, and who we are to become like.

It is also how we are to treat others the way God treats us.

Without love it all means nothing.

We sin but we can not continue in it, this is not because of us but, because of Him, in us,
changing us as He loves us and as the truth is revealed.
It is not by our own works do we change,
no one can take credit for what God does.
