My brother (who is an ordained pastor) helped me understand this subject a little better and this is what I believe and would like to share. This subject seems to be 'tormenting' many Christians and it seems Satan wants so immobilize Christians by accusing them of having committed this sin. I dont believe that a compulsive thought or a railing against the Holy Spirit constitutes this sin. (you may of course disagree )
Matthew 12:22-37.
I believe, based on this passage that the sin is to attribute the work of Christ to Satan while knowing that it is from God. This is what the Pharisees did and I believe that they had committed this sin. All the works in the world were not going to turn them to Christ. That is also why Christ in the end said all those "woes" against them. They were under God's judgment.
A good thing to ask a person who thinks they have performed this sin, would be: Do you reject the work of Jesus Christ so completely, that you would be willing to go on record to publicly attribute his work to Satan? Chances are that any Christian, and most unbelievers would be horrified to say yes to that.
Jesus wouldnt call the Pharisees 'you brood of vipers' if they were not already condemned.
