I am not derailing anything as the teachings of Jesus in Luke 6:46-49 and of James 1:22-27 are part of the whole council of God, as those teachings are just as much valid as the rest and they state that those who hear and do have a true faith but those who hear only but do not do are deceived.

You are the one who started this thread about instructing on the whole council of God, which means you can not discount these passages in those instructions to others.
What is the title of the thread and what do you suppose the main theme is.........clue....concerning the END and the coming of CHRIST....not your belief on salvation Ken!

2 Timothy 3:1-9
1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

Well you should change the title then to say what is Christ's teachings on only the end times.

Because by stating the Whole Council of God you can not discount the rest or you are not using the Whole Council of God, you are only going by part of what He said regarding the end times.

Amen, brother! I just can't imagine Joel Olsteen smiling and preaching about torment, God's wrath and men begging for death. We do need a balance of messages in today's churches, but most have settled for being 'politically correct"..which means, no offense to gays, it's ok to be on the middle of the fence, certainly no actual hell to worry about, yes, your animal pets can be in present day heaven with you, GOD enjoys and blesses those who engage in pre-marital sex, especially since He put them together and they are in love, our dead loved ones become angels who watch over us, and much more. How twisted and how surprised most will be when they find out differently.

Are you that dense Ken....read the title slowly and carefully........

The Whole Council of God concerning the END and the Coming Of Christ<-----this does not indicate one's beliefs on salvation....maybe you should pay attention to the words Kenneth...it seems to be a regular thing with you....you miss words, skip words and read into things what you want to see.......

No I am not dense and I do pay attention to the words as you said, "The Whole Council of God."

If you are referring to the end times alone then that is not the Whole Council of God, that would only be part of His teachings not all of them. That is why I said the name needs to be changed because He did not teach and instruct on the end times alone.

The Whole Council of God is ----------> How to receive remission of sins to be reconciled to God, then by faith continuing in His ways, then the instructions on the end times.

If you are not teaching on all three parts then you are not using the whole council of God !!!

Whatever dude...it is obvious that you do not understand the word concerning and what follows....so like usual keep arguing your moot point and refuse to honor the thread title while lacking an understanding of the words concerning the END and the coming of JESUS......don't ever engage me again unless you are willing to be honest! I am tired of your dis-honest attitude and refusal to acknowledge truth!

I am honoring your thread title because it says the Whole Council of God..................

I understand what concerning means but like I said by speaking of the end times alone is not the Whole Council of God.

I am not dis-honest so once again I would ask that you please stop making false allegations again as you seem to always do.

Amen to that and it is highly applicable brother......the whole reason for this thread was the fact that I am sick of the gospel being pancaked into this nothing but LOVE.....the correct message (gospel) is more than just the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and includes the negative aspects of his coming as well...including death, judgment, fear and all of the other nuances found n the word of God concerning his coming...good morning bro....!

dcon,

You know I totally agree with you; so please don't take this as a contradiction.

Unlike the seventeenth century, when Johnathan Edwards preached "Sinner in the Hands of an Angry God"; which led to a major revival, most unsaved people now are unreceptive to a warning message.

I believe that our outreach message should be primarily about Jesus' love and His claim on the lives of unbelievers.

Believers, however, should be reminded of the pending wrath of God; to give us a sense of urgency about reaching the lost for Jesus---which is the work He has given all of us.

There is not enough preaching on the grace and love of God and what it really means to be in Christ. How IN Christ there is no longer anger and wrath from a Holy God because He fully honors His Son's sacrifice as a complete and judicial payment for all the sins we have or ever will commit. Jesus paid it all. Even wiped out the guilt and shame associated with sin.

Preaching about the love of God is Biblical in every sense. For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son...that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have ever lasting life. The Gospel is in every sense of the word the good news...the TOO GOOD to be TRUE GOOD NEWS.:D There was no other word to describe this in the day it was first used. The world needs to know the good news that God loves us so much He sent His Son... That is a lot of love. The love of God is the Gospel, Jesus is the Gospel., forgiveness and redemption is the Gospel. Grace and truth is the Gospel. Grace is unmerited favor and unmerited unearned favor and love. That is the good news of the Gospel. Jesus came to pay for the sins of the undeserving sinner because for some unknown reason, God loves us.

The good news of the Gospel is going out in ways it never has before and people are hearing about the love of God in Christ. People are getting saved and believers are being set free from religious burdens of the law that says the more you do the more you get. The Gospel says the more Jesus did, the more you get. The more you realize what He did the more you will love Him back. We love Him because He first loved us. Amen. Love is a good word to describe God's reaction to us and the Gospel is about God's love and redemption. Please don't water down the Gospel and His love., it's what motivates Him and describes Him... God is Love.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in a position of unrighteousness......the gospel includes more than the love of God including the verses cited from Revelation.........there is a balance and it is all to be preached and proclaimed...not just the Love of God!

SUCH AS....
Revelation chapter 14 verses 6 and 7

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Just a small article I found on line about the good news of God being for man and not against mankind. That is the good news., God in Christ is reconciling the world... That is good news.

PEACE WITH GOD
Luke 2:14, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
LUKE 2:8-20

In another instance, Jesus said He did not come to send peace on the earth, but a sword. Then He prophesied that those who received Him would experience persecution, even from their own family (Mt. 10:34-36). How do these verses fit together?

The peace the angels were singing about was not a peace between men; they were rejoicing that there would be peace between God and man. When Jesus prophesied division and war in Matthew 10, he was speaking of relationships between men.

Through the Old Testament law, God began to release His wrath on man's sin (Rom. 4:15). It wasn't the wrath of Satan that Jesus suffered on the cross.

He suffered the wrath of His Father (Isa. 53:10-12; 2 Cor. 5:21). The Father placed His punishment for our sins on Jesus. This ended the war between God and man. This is the peace that the angels were proclaiming.

As a result of men receiving this peace from God there have also been many cases of reconciliation between men, but that is an effect; not the actual peace that was spoken of. These effects are secondary.

Today, through Jesus, we now have peace with God (Rom. 5:1). God is not mad at us. He isn't even upset. We have been accepted through Jesus (Eph. 1:6).

Believe the good news that through Jesus, the war between God and us is over.

Just found another good article on the subject of winning souls with the love of God and how it is His love in us that draws people.

HIS LOVE IS OUR LIGHT
Mark 4:21, "And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?"
MARK 4:21-25

Just as a candle or lamp is not to be hid, but rather displayed so that everyone can benefit from its light, so a Christian must let his light so shine before men that they might see his good works and glorify his Father which is in heaven. God has ordained us to go and bring forth fruit (Jn. 15:16). The great commission of the Church is to reach the world.

The early Christians experienced the love of Christ in an intimate and life-transforming way. This motivated them to reach their known world with the Gospel of Christ more than any other generation of Christians has since. They didn't have the benefits of our modern technology, but they did have the benefit of being full of the love of Christ. Experiencing the love of Christ causes us to be filled with the fullness of God (Eph. 3:19) and makes us a witness that the world cannot resist (Jn. 13:35).

Today, much of the emphasis of the Church is placed on techniques of evangelism or spiritual warfare. We motivate people to witness through feelings of guilt or punishment if they don't. Much of our evangelism has become as dead and non-productive as the efforts of the cults whose people knock on doors and argue others into their way of thinking. The Church today needs a revival of our personal relationship with the Lord. When we can truly say with Paul that the love of Christ constrains us, then we will impact our world for the Lord, too. We can't give away what we don't possess. We need to personally know the love of Christ in an experiential way before we try to share it with others. Let Him love you, and let His love flow through you to others. The world is hungry for love, real love.
