This why I wouldn't vote for Ted Cruz, even if he was the nominee

This guy would have the US in world war 3 faster than you could say Christian Reconstructionism. Arab oil belongs to the godly, yano. It's written there right in the bible. I wonder who gets to determine who the godly are? All you folks in BDF who don't believe in tongues are going to be in trouble. Ah shanda la katanda ubaka...

You all know that I usually am opposed to nearly anything HRFTD says, but in this particular case, he is 100% correct about Dominionism.

I was in another forum where they were talking about Cruz and Dominionism. I had never heard of it before, so I did some googling and it was pretty bad!

After that, I just pretended that Cruz was born in Wyoming.

Make the video stop! There doesn't seem to be a stop button!

I am assuming you are talking about Dominionism here?

Read up on it some. They actually believe we need to live under the old Biblical laws. (The stoning stuff... immediate death on the word of two or more, and all that.)

This is what those who follow the bible interpretation called Dominionism or Christian Reconstructionism believe.
And which part of the Bible talks about dominionism or Christian reconstructionism?

i am no fan of false teachings but...

my impression for some time now has been that 'dominionism' is just a bogeyman that is brought up in every election to throw at the candidates who are most vocal about christian values and the inclusion of christian values in our government...

they used this line of attack against bush in 2004...against palin in 2008...against perry in 2012...and now against cruz...

i'm just not impressed by these charges...

Probably the same place that talks about our modern Christianity......... Neither are there (except as a resurrection of 2nd Temple Judaism.) LOL

Seeking governmental power in order to facilitate the transfer of wealth from the wicked to the godly is a Christian value?

So... have you ever heard Ted Cruz espouse any of those doctrines, or beliefs? Have you ever seen any indication that he would use his office to try to achieve any of that?

If having a flaky relative is enough to write someone off, there would be NO candidates at all.

No I haven't, but I'm not naive either. If Cruz doesn't repudiate what his father teaches, he owns it.

I don't know that I agree with that completely... a son is not responsible for what his father says. If his father said "I'm gonna make sure my son does all this crazy stuff"... then yes, he should repudiate.

But even if he didn't, I wouldn't have a lot of heartburn over it..... unless Ted started saying it himself...

I read part of a book on tithing written by Gary North, who is very close to the founder of Dominionist theology. It was too long, tedious and disturbing to read much of, but I did glean from it the belief that church elders should have the right to examine church members' financial records like the IRS to make sure they are tithing what they owe. This theology essentially turns the church into a theocratic government. I can post the link to the book if anyone is interested.

IMO, it doesn't, just parts of Scripture is taken with a misinterpretation, the same goes for premillennialism. Both teach almost the same thing that Christ will rule the earth where the whole earth will be generally Christianized. Psalm 110 King David made a prophetic statement about Christ reign:

Announcement of the Messiah’s Reign

A Psalm of David.

110 The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
2 The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion.

Rule in the midst of Your enemies!
