Luke 16:10 NIV “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

God, who is the creator of the heavens and Earth has given everything he created, and that we have on Earth, for us to use. (Genesis 1:28 NIV "God blessed them (man) and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”) Since what we have, is not ours but has been given to us, we should use it wisely. A man's faithfulness is measured by what he does with whatever amount of it he has been given. People who suppose that if they were rich they would give large sums to charity, and yet give nothing from their meager possessions, are deceiving themselves. We should therefore invest what has been given to us wisely. Those who bury the one talent of this world's wealth will never make the most of the five talents of spiritual riches. I like a bit of context...

And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelation 22:11,12

Colossians 3:12-17 NIV Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

The Christian can know when he is doing God's will when the peace of Christ is in the heart and in the church. This is the attitude of peace that Christ alone gives - in place of the attitude of bitterness and quarrelsomeness. Peace was Christ's legacy to his disciples before he left them (John 14:27 NIV Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.). "Christ rule" you want Christ to preside in your hearts; sit as umpire to govern and control you. Many wear a peaceful countenance and speak peace with the mouth, while war is in their hearts. (Psalm 55:21 NIV His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.) (Romans 12:4-5 NIV For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.) So that in one body with Christ Jesus we can be thankful

James 1:19-27 19 NIV My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. 26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

It is our duty to hear God's word, and apply our minds to understand it, than to speak according to our own fancies, which could be something many people believe to be true but in actual fact, is false, or something that is conceived of in the mind. (I thought it therefore it is true.) God's word is Truth. We must examine not only ourselves but what has been said in the light of God's word to determine what is true. "Men have two ears, but one tongue, that they should hear more than they speak." " The ears are always open, and ready to receive instruction; but the tongue is surrounded with a double row of teeth, and top and bottom lips, to hedge it in, and to keep it within proper bounds." (Proverbs 15:4 NIV The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.) Prayer (Psalms 120:2 NIV Save me, Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.)

I would offer verse 10 is part of a continuing parable informing us no man can serve two teaching masters . all things written in the law and prophets (sola scriptura) and the oral traditions of corrupted mankind called a law of the fathers .

Luke 16: 13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

In this case necromancy seeking after the dead as workers with a familiar spirt for the living ;Or what Catholics must call patron saints it usurps the teaching authority of our father in heaven making it a law of men (oral traditions.0

Twice to emphasize we serve one teaching master in the end of the mater Christ informs if they do not get under the hearing of Christ faith (Moses and the prophets) that even if one did rise from the dead ( Jesus) they would not believe.

This shows the nature of the unredeemed, no faith needed to believe God. Their hope is in the things seen flesh and blood he temporal. The pagan foundation out of sight out of mind . .

Luke 16: 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, (sola scriptura) neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

We walk or understand according to the things not seen the eternal things of God.

God demands to be “FIRST” in every area of your life (Matthew 6:33). He does not want your leftovers. He said, “I Am a great King, give those leftovers to your Governor.” Mal. 1:8

Jesus tells us we must render to Caesar what belongs to him, and God what is His (Matthew 22:21). Jesus says, "If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches (Luke 16:11 NKJV)?

Christians are tested with the least in the Kingdom of God which is money.
Considering what Jesus has said here (Luke 16:9-13 NKJV), I think it would be difficult to overstate the significance of this down to earth, practical teaching, that applies to everyone. If a person cannot be trusted with money, and in any capacity, Jesus plainly says, he cannot be trusted with Salvation, i.e., "true riches." In view of the seriousness of what is being said, we would do well to heed carefully.

In these passages (Luke 16:9-13), Jesus is saying that irrespective of how loudly and how often we profess our Godliness if it does not show up in our practical, everyday living, and especially in the matters of money, and our responsibility toward others, our profession is vain. This statement is plain and clear if we are unfaithful in these things. "Who will commit to our trust the true riches?"

Can a Christian Be cursed because of not tithing?
Does Christ rebuke the devourer if the Believer doesn't tithe?
Can a Christian test God in the New Testament? If so how?
Can a Christian live in the open windows of Heaven if they don't tithe?
Should I tithe, or pay my bills?

Jeremiah 17:8-11 NIV “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. 8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” 9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it 10 “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.” 11 Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay are those who gain riches by unjust means.

When their lives are half gone, their riches will desert them, and in the end they will prove to be fools. In the last verse Jeremiah is telling us how deceitful and how desperately wicked the heart is. In verse 10 the Lord tells us not to evaluate ourselves, but to look to the Lord for that evaluation. In this way God could justly render to each person what his deeds deserve according to his ways. In other words, (Proverbs 3:5 NIV Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;)

Thanks, Yes the two witness of one God. The law and the prophets .(sola scriptura) Signified by Moses the letter of the law death, and Elijah the power of faith called the law of faith . The just and the justifier .

During the first century reformation using Saul before his born again conversion to represent the law of men as oral traditions thereof. Showing Saul with all the right credentials, best teachers and had a zeal (false for knowing God.) His assignment was to murder men and women alike . That reveals to us the foundation of their faithless. No faith from sola scriptura) believe system . Out of sight out of mind Paganism.

Like that of faithless Cain in order to silence the gospel moved by the father of lies plowed Abel under the corn field .Out of sight out of mind

When born again Paul became a member of the Nazarene denomination .He was the number one enemy wanted dead or alive .

Acts 22: 3-5 I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day. And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

They tried to prove sola scriptura (all thing written in the law and prophets) was heresy and the oral tradition of sinners the law of the fathers was the final authority .They walked away faithless.

Acts24:1-143 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

Psalms 91:1-2 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

The "shelter of the Most High" is the private place one goes when praying, in morning devotion, evening walks with God (Matthew 6:5,6 NIV “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.") We must praise God first in order to receive His protection and provision. (Acts 2:11 people praised the Lord in their own tongue) (Acts 16:25,26 Peter and Silas praised the Lord and the prison doors flew open.)

This is what you quoted "He said, “I Am a great King, give those leftovers to your Governor.” Mal. 1:8"

The correct reading of this verse taken from the "International Children’s Bible" (ICB) Mal. 1:8 You bring blind animals as sacrifices, and that is wrong. You bring crippled and sick animals. That is wrong. Try giving them to your governor. Would he be pleased with you? He wouldn’t accept you,” says the Lord of heaven’s armies.

May I suggest that you be very, very careful on how you are paraphrasing. The last thing you want to do is accidently change the meaning of a sentence. (Deuteronomy 4;2 You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.) (Proverbs 30:6 Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.) (Revelations 22:18-19 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.)

You said "I like a bit of context..." but I don't see any context. I see the last half of Mal. 1:8 that has been twisted in it's meaning.

You try to make things clear so everyone can understand, but you twist scripture by your "paraphrasing" and end up only confusing people.

In this verse, God is pleading and reasoning with the people, by asking if they would insult an earthly ruler in this way? You offer to God the lame and the sick. The LORD is asking how they could expect their intercessions to God for the people to be effective when they so insulted God in their sacrifices.

Colossians 2:6,7 NIV So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

We must walk with Jesus in our daily lives and maintain our fellowship with him. The more closely we walk with Christ, the more we are rooted and established in faith. If we walk in Him, we will be rooted in him; the more firmly we are rooted in him, the more closely we will walk with him.

1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Faith, hope will remain with us while in this sinful body because Faith and hope are by nature imperfect. These two mature into "knowledge" when the thing believed in or hoped for is reached. Love however when mature, remains love, for God is love; 1 John 4:7-8 NIV "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."
