First of all what exactly is racism? Secondly, does the Bible condemn it?

Just interested in getting a sense why Christians believe what they do on this subject. I'd request trying your absolute best to avoid arguing with people if they don't see things the same as you. The intent of this thread is strictly for information gathering. I really don't want an argument. If I post again, it might be to ask a clarifying question or two. Not to argue.

As one who believes we all came from Adam and then from Noah, racism would only be finding some cultural reason to hate members of our family.

God throughout the Bible, restricted the Hebrews from intermarriage, was that racist?

Deuteronomy 7:1-3KJV
1 When the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
2 And when the Lord thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.

Racist is hate other race. Bible condemned it

Matt 25
43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

I was a stranger and you not invite me in.

Stranger, a person who does not know, or is not known in, a particular place or community. Can be other race.

Matt 12:31
31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[a] There is no commandment greater than these.”

All human regardless race is our neighbor. So if we hate other race, we violate the second greatest commandment

How God looks at the difference between the Hebrew race and the gentile race is a major, all important question. Even though the Hebrews were once gentiles, God is accused of racism above and beyond the special job God gave the Hebrew to perform for the gentiles.

Racism definition is - a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race; also : behavior or attitudes that reflect and foster this belief : racial discrimination or prejudice.

Moses's sister Miriam complained because Moses married a black woman. What happened to her? See Numbers 12

Good Post, Jack,
but, most PEOPLE are 'color-blind' = whether they are, 'red or yellow, black or white, they are forever precious in His sight'
so this very old song goes -this most precious song is long forgotten...
YES Jack, WE ALL come from Adam/Noah, and YET, 'satan's hatred' prevails among our brothers and sisters today,
causing great divisions even in our elected 'leaders', who should be preaching 'UNITY and LOVE!!!

confusion and chaos respect no man'...

The scripture teaches us that when "The Queen of Sheba" visited King Solomon and heard his wisdom and saw all the wealth he had, she fainted (1 Kings 10:5, 2 Chronicles 9:4). "The Queen of Sheba (saved)" was a black female who had child with Solomon.

Racism is bad, it’s a human thing, God does not see race, he sees sons and daughters he created, and he wants to save them all.

Racism is more accurately called "racial prejudice". The term "racism" was coined sometime in the 20th century as a way of bringing the discussion into the political realm. Who coined it though, I can't recall.

Racism is often defined as "prejudice + power". I reject that definition, because one can harbor racial prejudice yet lack the power and/or position to act on it.

As for Scripture, I think that racial prejudice is a symptom of the greater sin of not loving one's neighbor as oneself.

Luke 10 and John 4 are but two of many Scripture passages which speak to that.

All these groups of people basicailly lived next to each other, and are basically the same race. They are not as varied as black, Chinese, Latino, etc. So, I don't think these verses are about race.

RACISM is a word much used by ignorant people. Some ignorant people ARE racist, judging basely only by the nationality or color of another person. Fact is, there are groups of people in all races and nationalities who behave like barbarians

Good place to start. Nip it in the bud.

There is only one race; The Human Race.

Pride, Spirit of entitlement, Desire to feel superior to our neighbor and fellow man. This is the source of men's desire to fabricate race theories. Racism ensues from embracing willful ignorance. There was only one pair of Adam and Eves in the Garden, and they did not look like monkeys or greys:alien:.

Hey! I sing that. What a nice reminder............here I go.

Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world..
Red and yellow, black and white,
We are precious in His sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world..

If there are more verses, I never learned them.
Would you believe I was singing this song in 1948 at summer Bible school? This song and Jesus Loves Me. I was not yet spirit /filled but this was my theology until the Holy Spirit entered me 21 years on down.

What a great way to keep near Him, singing of His love for us all. All love in Jesus, Yeshua. j.

Hatred bad. No matter the standard that hate is based on. It IS NOT Biblical.

Love good. It IS Biblical.

Racial prejudice is born out of fear. Fear that comes from not knowing/understanding people who differ from the one that hates.

God is not accused of anything Because God made man all came from God. The hate was displaced with Cain and Able. God made one race so to suggest HE can be accused of racism is error.

Racism is a loaded term. I prefer to use “statistical discrimination”

We are all judged by the Mean. When you encounter a long data set, why do we often ask for the Mean first?
