John 6:66 . . From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked
no more with him.

Well; we can hardly find fault with their decision to go away; I mean after
all, the man was not only talking about cannibalism; but it is a breech of the
Jews' covenant with God to eat blood.

Lev 7:27 . . If anyone eats blood, that person must be cut off from his
people.

Lev 17:10 . . Any Israelite, or any alien living among them, who eats any
blood-- I will set My face against that person who eats blood and will cut him
off from his people.

It could be argued that those passages forbid eating the blood of birds and
beasts, but don't specifically outlaw eating human blood. Personally I don't
see how the latter would be any less disgusting than the former, but I'm
willing to leave the human blood question to each man's own conscience
because, to my knowledge, the Bible doesn't address vampirism.

Jesus and his men were all Jews under the jurisdiction of the covenant that
Moses' people agreed upon with God as per Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and
Deuteronomy. If perchance their covenant forbids eating all blood, including
human blood, then Jesus led his men into sin on the night of his last supper
if the fruit of the vine that they all shared was in fact transubstantiation.

I would not blame them for walking away also. Its what men that have no faith do walk after the natural course of this world, walk by sight.

Interestingly on one side there is Catholicism that insists we need the literal blood of Jesus ( transubstantiation) in order to have life.. in a hope of confirming their tradition. And the other side JW's refusing any literal blood to enter their bodies in a hope of confirming their tradition.?

Scriptures defines "drinking blood" of man as giving ones life (spirit) in jeopardy of his own. Blood like water is used as a metptphor to represent the working of the Holy Spirit using the things seen to represent the unseen spiritual understanding. Christ poured out His Spirit life as if it was literal blood.

Neither party ate and drank by faith . Both looking to the things seen to give them faith (walking by sight)

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

David just coming off a victory it seems needed confirmation .God sent him a thirst for hearing the gospel. which in that parable as a companion to John 6 defines drinking the blood in the Son of man giving his spirit life in jeopardy of his own spirit.

1 Chronicles 11;17-19 King James Version (KJV) 17 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate! And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the Lord.
And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest

David would not drink it...….. he refused to stand in the holy place of God as the abomination of desecration .

John 6:53 . . Jesus said: "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the
flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you."

John 6:54 . . .Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life,

John 6:50-51a . . This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a
man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down
from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever.

FAQ: Does any of the above apply to Old Testament personages, e.g. Able, Noah,
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joshua. Ruth, Gideon, Samson, and David, et al?

A: Yes; all of them.

FAQ: How do you know that?

A: Jesus' crucifixion benefits the whole world rather than only a portion of
the world.

John 6:51b . . the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.

1John 2:2 . . He himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours
only, but also for the whole world.

John 1:29 . . Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

FAQ: Did they even know about Jesus back then?

A: Abraham knew.

John 8:56 . . Abraham rejoiced to see my day, and he saw it and was glad.

Jacob knew.

Gen 49:18 . .I have waited for thy salvation, O Lord

Isaiah knew.

Isa 52:14 . .There were many who were appalled at him-- his appearance
was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond
human likeness

Isa 53:6 . .We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his
own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

David knew.

Ps 16:10 . .You will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy
One see decay. (cf. Acts 2:25-36)

FAQ: Well, if there was no such thing as a communion service until Jesus'
last supper, then how did those people back there eat his flesh and drink his
blood?

A: Hook, line, and sinker; if you get my drift. For example:

Many years ago, when I was a young welder just starting out in the trade, a
Baptist man employed by the same company for whom I worked; asked me
if I was going to heaven. Of course I replied that I didn't know: I was a
Catholic, and Catholics don't know things like that. Then he asked me the
question that put my life on a whole new track: Haven't you heard that
Christ died for you?

Of course I had heard of Christ's crucifixion in catechism, but not till that
moment did I realize it was so personal, and especially; so complete.

Coincidentally, I had only recently been doing some serious thinking about
hell. The way I figured it; this kid would never be good enough to merit
going to heaven, so hell was pretty much a foregone conclusion for the likes
of me. But the very moment that man's question sank into my thick skull; I
instantly knew that heaven was in the bag. I had swallowed the story about
the offering of Jesus' flesh and blood for my sins hook, line, and sinker.

Some may call me naïve for so easily buying into Jesus' dying for my sins,
but I don't feel naïve; no, I feel very fortunate.

Mark 10:15 . . I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom
of God like a little child will never enter it.

"For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off."
-Leviticus 17:14
