Sometimes unforgiveness can cause prayers not to be answered.

The word also say to shed those things that hinder us, such as sins that cause us to hide like Adam and Eve did!

Also wrong motive the word says will cause us to hit and miss with our prayers.

I have also found that when people pray to God like He is a star in a nursery rhyme,
You know the one,

Twickle, Twickle, little star,
How I wonder what you are,
up above the world so high,
like a dimond in the sky!

You must fisrt believe He is!

It must line up with love and the word, mixed with faith in Jesus!

Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened!

Sometimes prayers are answered, but we don't see it because we look the other wrong direction when the answer comes. But there are times when our request is held because we do not come in prayer with clean hearts, sometimes it is because we do not recognize God as having ultimate authority and sometimes God does not answer the prayer because you have become separated from him.

Keep focused and pray according to the word of God.

In Matthew 6 you will find the Lords Prayer. It shows you how to bring your requests before the Lord.

9 Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
11 give us this day our daily bread
12 forgive us our trepasses as we forgive those who trespass against us
13 lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever
AMEN

Matthew 21:22 And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.

Glorify God above all else first. Tell him you recognize Him as the Holiest of Holys and that He has the ultimate authority. Do not come in prayer holding gudges, or having unforgiveness toward someone. Come in prayer believing you will receive - so remember to say thank you in advance for the prayer to be answered... and say thank you after its answered too :)

Father God, You in Your ultimate glory have all wisdom and knowledge. Father, You can open the eyes of the blind and make the deaf to hear again. Lord, I ask that You open the heart of dothackzero that he may experience your awesomeness, that he may believe that You, Lord, are ever faithful to Your people. Help him to see Your word in action that He may become a testimony to Your love and faithfulness. Thank you Lord for your love and mercy. Thank you, Lord for your divine grace. In the mighty name of Jesus Chist I pray. AMEN!

Sometimes unforgiveness can cause prayers not to be answered.

As far as I know I've forgiven everyone. I tend to be a very forgiving person, or do I have to let God that I've forgiven everyone?

The word also say to shed those things that hinder us, such as sins that cause us to hide like Adam and Eve did!!

You mean asking for forgivnes first?

Also wrong motive the word says will cause us to hit and miss with our prayers.!

That might a problem with me, I tend to be a selfish pereson. Though at the same time I can see where they would help me out and help God out at the same time. You stuff like asking to be able to make friends easier, becoming less depressed, becoming less shy. Stuff like that.

I have also found that when people pray to God like He is a star in a nursery rhyme,[/
quote]

So we have to make sure we put God 1st in the prayer?

It must line up with love and the word, mixed with faith in Jesus!
I don't see where it would match up with the word, other than maybe asking for a Girlfriend. I know I have the faith that the prayers will get answer, it's the when that's bugging me.

Sometimes the answer is *Be still and know that I AM GOD!*..........BUT....we are so focused on receiving the answer that we already have in our mind, that we miss the answer before us. Resting in Him.....truly resting, can sometimes be the best answer ofall.

Dyeing to self is not always easy.

Prayers never go unanswered, sometimes He say yes. sometimes He says wait or sometimes He says no, but he always answers the prayers of the righteous
1pe 3:12For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

who are the righteous those who have called upon the name of the Lord

Sometimes I think because its not the answer we wanted, we dont recognize it. Gods time is not ours, his ways are not our ways, I truley believe with all my heart he answeres ALL prayers, it just might not be in the way we expect it to happen, or the in the form we wished it to happen. Bottom line, he knows what we need before we ask, and he knows whats best. I know personally I have prayed for things, and when it didnt turn out the way i thought it should or would, Id be all discouraged , or wonder if I was asking for the right thing, and then later on down the line, I understood it played out exactly as he intended, and it was what God thought I needed.

What is it that you've been praying for?
James 4 says "2Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."
Sometimes His anwswer is 'no' and we are not willing to accpet that. Sometimes it is 'wait' and of course, we don't want to wait. But what we can do is to put our petitions before God and ask the if the petition is His will that He would intervene to accomplish it and that if it isn't His will that He would give you a heart's desire for whatever IS His will.
I've seen relationship break up (concerning my oldest son) when I prayed that I didn't think it was a good thing and if it was not His will for them to be together, then please cause it to come to an end. Most recently, a younger friend was considering letting a certain older woman move in wth here and be her roommate. But this woman has issues...jealousy over male friends, spending problems, and more and she can be quite gossip and vindictive. So another friend and I prayed and ask God that if it was not His will for T to move in with N, that He would intervene. Within one week, I received word that T had changed her mind, not wanting to pay the required share of the rent, which goes up $50.00 when a 2nd person is living there. Done deal!!
So I am curious....what have you been praying for?

A girlfriend(For 6 years),
To make more friends(a few months),
to become less depressed(A few weeks?),
To find a new job(About a week),
For my life to suck less(A few weeks ago),
to become a stronger Christian

A girlfriend(For 6 years), ~~Wrong focus: Ps 37:4 tells us to "Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will (B)give you the desires of your heart." Are you wanting a girlfriend MORE than you want Jesus??
To make more friends(a few months), Ask Him to help you BE a friend. Ask Him to lead you to others who have a right relationship with Him so that you can have Godly fellowship.
to become less depressed(A few weeks?), Ask God for spiritual and emotional HEALING. In truth, a born again, spirit-filled Christ follower need never be depressed!! I know that Christian are depressed but that is because the lack understanding of who they are in Christ and what their authority is AND what the tactics of the devil are to steal their joy! Remember, it is satan that comes to kill (your life), steal (your joy, your finances, your anything he can get his hands on), and destroy (the destiny plan that God has for your life). WE, as believers, have authority over the kingdom of darkenss, but most Christians do not really believe that OR they have not been taught how to use it. The book "The Power of the Blood" by H.A. Maxwell Whyte changed my life and helped me to begin to understand these things. You won't regret spending the money on it.
To find a new job(About a week), see above. Tell satan to get his hands off of your finances in the name of Jesus Christ!
For my life to suck less(A few weeks ago), spend more time in worship of your Lord and Savior. SING songs to Him, talk with Him. The devil hates it when we do that and never hangs around for long when we do. Oh he'll come back repeatedly, but only to see if you are steadfast in your devotion to Jesus. The devil will try to distract you too, but just keep praising, worshipping and thanking Him! Don't forget daily reading of scripture!!
to become a stronger Christian do the above and you're on your way!!
Hope that helps. Be blessed! Remember, the devil hates you and wants to make your life miserable...he'll do whatever YOU let him get away with. But Jesus loves you with a never-ending love!

"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:29-30

Take the yoke of Jesus and let him ease your suffering. When you do, the worries of the world will become less burdensome and you will see things in a better way. :)

In Christ

Get as close to God as u can. Learn everything u can about him. Put God first in your life. When u wake up in the morning tell God good morning. Think about this...if u seen a stranger on the street. Someone u don't even know...would u walk up to them and say give me this...give me that...can I have this or that...the stranger will say who are u. I don't know u. Why would I give u this or that I don't know u. That's how we do God. The bible says to seek God. That means to study him. So once u have spent your time getting as close to him as u can then u learn he loves u very much and has given u the right to ask him for things. Then u learn faith. Someone can know God but have lil faith. If u have lil faith then God can be ready to give u what u asked for but right before he was going to give it to u u lost your faith. Oh he's not going to give it to me. So then he does your will and he doesn't give it to u. Repent say I'm sorry for having lil faith and believe with all your heart all your soul and all your mind. u have to believe he will answer u. Hope is great but go past hope to u know that u know God will. God bless u

I would also make sure that YOU are doing everything you can to get the things you want. Praying is definitely the first and most important step, but a lot of it is in your hands too. Are you doing things to try to meet new people and make new friends? Are you out there applying for jobs and going on interviews? Sometimes people pray for something and then sit back and wait for it to happen, and wonder why God isn't answering. Keep praying, but remember to do your part also.

Yeah, I'm trying to do my part in what I'm praying for too.

Lots of good answers already, I have learned that one must listen with their whole self, not just with their ears. Also often you have recieved the answer before you asked. God our father in heaven knows your thoughts, words even before you utter them. keep trying, Our father is faithful and never grows weary or tired of listening to you. God bless, pickles

A few reasons, could be anything. Could be a) problem with the upward communication (God hearing), or problem with the downlink communication (us hearing).

Praying to the wrong God..prayers is to the Father, through Jesus Christ, and by the Holy Spirit. Prayer involves all three. The Spirit is our link to the Son and the Father, Jesus is our link to the Father. God's real name is YHWH or Yahweh, Jesus's real name is Yeshuah, or Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Don't pray to Jesus Christ of New York, that's the wrong Jesus.

Praying in the wrong way:

Prayer must be to the right person: Prayer for needs, wants, desires, to the Father, prayer to Jesus Christ for the same, prayer to the Holy Spirit for everpresent help and comfort.

Praying for the wrong things. Don't need to ask for things we already have. Don't need to ask for things God promised not to give. Don't need to pray about things when the answer is right before our eyes, in these cases the usefulness of prayer is not to receive an answer from God, but to realise the help and answer He has already provided.

Assuming God has heard, he has promised to answer. Four types of answers, yes, no, maybe, or wait.

This very statement is in indication of the start of doubt, and lack of persistance:

"I'm just wondering since none of my ever seem to get answered... "

Instead of thinking like this, start thanking and praising God that He has answered. Your statement is from a position of doubt, a thankful heart is from a position of victory and faith.

Even if they don't seem to be answered, believe that they are and will be, regardless. Believe you have already received the answer, even if it doesn't seem like you have:

Mar 11:24ThereforeIsayuntoyou,What things soeveryedesire,whenyepray,believethatyereceivethem,andyeshallhavethem.
This is what this verse means, believe that you have received it from the very moment you ask. Even Jesus's prayers weren't answered immediately, take courage in that. Forget about "if it be thy will" prayers, they sometimes do more harm than good. When you pray for something good that you know God wants to give you, don't doubt His will, goodness, love or good intentions.

Prayer must be from the heart. Not mind, the heart. The heart is in your belly, in your chest, in your innermost being. Not the fleeting thoughts and ponders of the mind. It's best to avoid use of the mind, just pray with your innermost groans and sighs, with your emotions and feelings, just pray whatever comes out of your mouth first. Pray before you think, rather than think before you pray, and let the Holy Spirit take over your words so that whatever you pray will be from the Spirit, and then you will be praying the perfect prayer in accordance with the Father's will.

The standard of way of praying is to think with your mind, and pray whatever you are thinking. But the mind is not supposed to be at the forefront, it's the middle man. When something is on your heart, that is put there by the Spirit who helps us to pray, you pray what is in your heart, that goes to your mind, and then your mind speaks to God what comes from the heart. Not, receive what is in your mind, and try and bypass your heart straight to God. That results in wishy-washy earthly, fleshly, soulish, touchy-feely prayers of no effect. Pray in the Spirit, and then the prayers are much more effective. Let the mind take a backseat.

Excuse me, but God does NOT have a problem hearing us! He might REFUSE to hear, but is fully able. His refusal is always due do our own hard-heartedness.

Any prayer 'in the name of Jesus Christ' is always heard by God. Don't pray to Jesus Christ of New York, that's the wrong Jesus. That's just silly!

Yep!

AMEN!!

Let the mind take a backseat.
Even ASK HIM what He would have you pray!

Grace, I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. Thank God for his patience with us. Resting in him is the best answer all of the time no matter what we are facing, although when things are going great there is a temptation not to seek him as earnestly as we may have when things were not going so great. Voice of experience here. :)
