Apparently my parents don't agree about the way I believe in the Gift of Tongues, and they know about the guys in the Bible Study that a good amount of them speak in tongues. There still gonna let me go, but I think just barely, and I think they wouldn't let me go anymore if they knew I believed in it in a different way than I do. Actually, do you know if my aunt(pastors wife), my uncle(pastor), or Dan(main pastor at the church) believe in it the way I do. My I'm pretty sure my parents would listen if it was them, they just think I'm to naive to trust me with something like this.

You're a grown man so they should respect your right to believe whatever you want to. But if you're living at home and dependent on them it can be a bit tricky.

Yeah, it'll just take time for them for them to forget about it. Weeks for my mom, and maybe a couple years for my dad.

Watchman, they just don't believe in the version of tounges that MahogonySnail has and the gift I want. Really, I'm lucky that I have parents that only disagree with me on the small things like this.

He basiclly just thinks that it's only used to address the Chruch with the translator telling everyone what the guy is saying.
That is what the gift of tongues is for, but there is also a tongues to teach the gosple in a human language that you do not speak, and a prayer language which is between you and God

you do not need the "gift" of tongues. but you seem to want it. it sounds like you want to prove to yourself that you have some, value, some gift, you dont need this. you already have value, you already are a gift. stop looking for want what you do not need. focus on whats important.

I know, I don't need it. I just want it, as my for parents I just want them to know the Bible Study I goto is a good Bible Study and not some sorta cult or something. Besides, if they stopped me from going(Which is what I'm worried about), then that'll slow my growth as a Christian by a lot. Also I get to see most of my friends there.

oh man, stop letting your parents control you. you are your own person by now. study, what you want to study, have whatever friends you want to have, for crying out loud. this doesnt sound like a religious issue, it sounds like a personal, family issue. no guy, as old as you are, should have his parents deciding, what friends you should talk to or what bible study you go to, for crying out loud. what are they worried about? i mean really? come on!? you are not your parents! break away soon. if you dont, you will never become who you are meant to be.
i wish the strength of the lord be with you.

I would not feed the conversation if it always takes a turn for an argument or disagreement. What is coincidental is that the bible says that tongues are a sign for the unbeliever, that is, if God speaks the unbelievers language through you, they will recognize that it is the power of God, also, I do believe that tongues are used for believers who speak English like I do. I remember hearing tongues for the first time in my life in 1976 and I was an unbeliever and I knew it was of God because it was not a babble or da da ga ga. It was fluid and clear and the spirit anointing it gave me the fear of God as being in Awe. Usually, if an assembly has the genuine gift, that means that the spirit of Christ is doing HIS authentic work through preaching Acts 2:38. Places where everybody is babbling, well, I question the kind of deceptive spirit they are moving in. I do not judge tongues, but I can discern the spirit of God in them to know the difference between the real and the counterfeit. I use wisdom and keep quiet and keep it to myself unless the Lord would open the door and have somebody ask me. If it is counterfeit, I do not believed that the believers operating in what they are doing are possessed. I just consider them self deceived and some people desire the gift more than the baptism of the spirit. Desire the baptism of the spirit and do not seek tongues. One of teachings on the foundation of Christ is doctine of baptisms (plural) We can have many baptisms of the spirit of God as well as water baptism.
At 21, the world system may look at you as an adult but you are still a young man so don't grieve about living at home with your parents. You are in a safe place of the Lord away from temptation and sin, thank God for that. Tongues are the least of all gifts and I consider it a small issue. To me, you don't have to speak in tongues for evidence of the holy spirit if that is what you are concerned about. It is the fruit of the spirit that counts. Even though I speak in tongues from 1977. I was on my knees with my arms in the hair praising God with my mouth and tongue and it suddenly happened. I was speaking this language without even thinking or having to concentrate about it and I was able to listen to myself. I did not consider myself to be "filled" with the spirit until I was in my 50's. We are earthern vessels that have different levels of being filled as we walk from faith to faith and to glory to glory. So, all I can say is seek the baptism of the spirit of Christ and don't be anxious. When it happened to me, I actually gave up entering into tongues and entered into the spirit of God. The spirit of God was so strong upon me, my whole body felt like an electric current was going from the top of my head to the bottom of my toes. The pastor we had at that time, he would go around and lay hands on top of our heads and the spirit of God would suddenly descend. Ever since then, I have not experienced or come into contact with a pastor since then that had the abililty of helping us to receive the baptism of the spirit through the laying on of hands. After I received the baptism, I did not have to have hands layed on me to enter into the rhelm of the spirit anymore. It was spontaneous to enter in. We can go in and out and find pasture. He is the door to the sheepfold.

#1...WHY are you still living at your parents house? Unless you are in school or a recovering drug addict that needs some support, you really should be out on your own.
#2 When we cast our pearls and they are not well-received, we are to pray! Ask the Lord to give them revelation and understanding. DECLARE that they have eyes to see and ears to hear Him and His kingdom.

And don't preach at them....let them ask YOU any questions they might have.
You could have a book or two lying around that deals with the subject (amazon.com is a great resource).
