um..

I find it nice to talk about what we learned from church, sunday school or from conferences today.
so this thread is about what you learned today.
Isn't it nice to share it with everyone here? We can learned things from others too. and they will learn things from us.
Getting to know God more and more.

so I'll start :D

**************************

when i woke up today, the tv was turned on and
it was a sunday church service, and the message was
when a person disobeys the Lord, that
doesnt change anything. that doesn't affect
God's plans. God will still love us, and will still
reach out for us to have us back in His arms.
and disobedience/rebellion from God causes harm
and pain, like what happened to Jonah. Jonah was thinking
of his own plans, but still that didn't affect God's plan for him.
Isnt that amazing?

thats it for today :D
hope to hear from others too.

Last week at church I learned that before Jesus, when there had to be sacrifices offered to God, they would get a baby lamb, raise it as their pet, the children would play and sleep with this lamb, loved it dearly, fed it , played with it, it was their pet, then after 1 year, the Father would take the lamb, as hard as it was to take the childrens pet, he would take this lamb to be offered as a sacrifice for the sins for just 1 year, after that the process would start over. When I think about how much I love my dog, how much I love my children, its almost mind boggleing to realize that God gave His only Son as the ultimate sacrifice, for the whole entire world, what an awesome God he is, He even had those little children in mind, the ones who would cry and beg their daddys not to take the lamb away, He did it for all of us, thats awesome.....

God revealed to me this week the difference and real meaning between walking in the flesh and walking in the spirit. You hear this stuff over and over but it isnt untill God gives you a revelation that you truly get it. Right? Well through Romans 8 I realized that you can't please God in the flesh. But storeing up treasures in heaven by obeying His word in the spirit is the key. I don't know about anyone else but I want to please God! My eyes were opened up to who I am in Christ and how my carnal man is not a part of me anymore. The bible says we will be judged by fire and what is left is our reward and since Gods word is forever, the treasure we store up according to his word will be whats left and thus be our reward. What we sow in the spirit we reap in the spirit. And so I have a whole new outlook on my daily walk with God. I now seek out the things of my flesh (pride, lust, coventousness, ect.) regardless of how small the issue, and "put them to death" by calling on Jesus for help.(cause its not always easy)Amen? And I now look for things of the spirit in my life (ways to love/be kind, to serve, to see what God says about what Im doing at the moment) so I can store that treasure according to His word. Make sense? Its hard to explain a revelation you get because its meant to be personal but thats the best I can do. I guess the main thing is that I got it.:) Blessings, Derek

I've learned that I must see things differently. That I must view things from God's perspective and not my own. I must have eyes to see as He sees and ears to hear as He hears. I must fine tune my hearing, so that I don't miss the message He is trying to convey. I've learned that the more tuned in I become, the deeper He desires to take me. If I value what He has taught me already, He will give me more. So I am seeking greater wisdom, greater revelation, greater knowlege and understanding. I want to know the deep things of God, the mysteries of God. So I ask Him to show me things in every day life, show me the things that I might otherwise miss. God is everywhere and in everything. I want to see Him at work wherever I go, so I ask Him to show me what He is doing in me and around me!

something i learned yesterday :D

"Do I stand out?"

that was the youth conference theme we had yesterday..
and it was great.. it reminded me of something real important..

How to stand out for God, not to be like the rest of the world, resisting temptations and doing it all so because of God and not my own self.
to stand out by being God's light in the dark corners of life... and people.

and today i learned something new

well. ive been looking for the peace i once had.
ive been searching it everywhere.... but God reminded me that He is the perfect peace i needed.
not the park.. not the moutains where i used to go to have a quiet time. peaceful place could be anywhere if you have it deep inside your heart, and only God can give you that peace.

hi Derek, i really like what you had to say, and its a blessing! i just wanted to add this verse to go with what you posted, and pray you are blessed!
1Cr 3:13each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is.
1Cr 3:14If anyone's work which he has built on [it] endures, he will receive a reward.

hi abing i like what you had to say, however i do think that somtimes are disobediance does affect the plans God had for us. an example, like who we are sapposed to marry, and how we invest are money, things like that. lets say if God choose a mate for me, and told me to wait, and i did not, that would affect the plans He had prepared for me because i did not wait and choose another person. Yes God could still change that into a blessing, but it's better to wait on His time and who He chooses for me and anyone who is looking. thats just an example. :)

heyyy yeah i totally agree with u.. actually what i was trying to say on that post is that...

if we disobey Him, that doesn't change God's plan..(hehe yeah, the emphasis was on God's plan, my bad i didnt emphasize it heheh) hehe thats the main point of the sermon, yes the person's life will change and its not gonna be a good change lol. but God's plan wll still remain, if He promised you He will bless you, and u disobeyd Him, He will make a way to show you the way back and He's promise to you shall be fulfilled.

Today I learned, or maybe I should say I realized, that I am letting myself get too wrapped up in my problems instead of handing them over to the Lord! I need to work on doing that more so life's struggles don't weigh on my shoulders so much.

I really don't know how to put into words what I learned yesterday (it is still early today).

There is a very old monk in the monastery at my college. He's a soft spoken man with the voice of a poet: a Savannah Georgian by birth who was educated at Oxford in England. As a result, he has what we like to playfully refer to as the "voice of God" when he speaks, for he speaks of God so eloquently and perfectly with great dilligence and all humility. When I first saw him two years ago I noticed immediately his very tall and looming stature, the confidence with which he carried himself, and the authority with which he spoke. He was like a faint whisper of the glories of days past when the well educated were like nobility, yet unlike nobility, the truly educated were gentlemen. He was like a pillar of virtue. Recently he has fallen ill, and has become quite frail and has lost much weight. As a result, he has been in the infirmery of the monastery since before December.

I saw him yester day walk -by himself - to his seat in the church. After mass, he got up to walk, but he had to let one of the younger monks hold his arm for stability. I don't know what exactly I learned at that moment, but I could not keep my eyes off this event and it touched me deeply for some reason.

Church was great today. I didn't do so good in Praise team, but otherwise it was great. Tha pastor preached a sermon about fixing your relationship with God first if you want your relationships with others to work out.

I was reading Ephesians 1 and just reflecting on the resurrection power that dwells in all believers. It's quite amazing.
