Just wondering what if the 2012 prophecy about the end of the world happened?Would you be still faithful to God despite of the Mayans predicted the happening?or if the bible knew it before them, are there any related accounts that could be applied to this prophecy?

Matthew 24:36 (KJV)
"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

I have to agree with Cako on this one
and the Myans did not mean its the end of the world but the end of the calender.

MahoganySnail: Where will you be in 2012??
It's only 2 years away!!

Who prophesied that the world would end in 2012? Or are you referring to the upcoming movie??
Please answer.
Thanks,

Yeah to believe that man will predict upcoming events is super sketchy. I mean yeah there are prophets, but there are also false prophets. I'm pretty sure they didn't have any prophets. And yeah Cako hit it right on the nail. It's not going to happen.

I know that the hour and day is not known to anyone but the father. I don't believe any of us will be suprised when it actually does happen though. Except for the non believers who will be a bit suprised. The link i posted above is the 1st part in a 3 part series, they are about 10 minutes each i think. I find these somewhat interesting because of the method in which they are using to look at the signs of the times essentialy. Noone is predicting any days or years but the focus is in keeping with the bible and where it tells the believer to look for the signs. Just throwing this link out there in case anyone wants to take a peak.

The point is no one actually will be around after the world ends to contemplate whether or not those mayans were right or not. So the original question is not sound.

The Mayans sacrificed people to their gods daily to prevent calamity. Mayans haven't sacrificed anyone for hundreds of years. You'd think their god would be angry by now if any of it was real. :p

I think we're all avoiding the hypothetical question by saying it won't happen. We all know it won't happen, but what if it did?

If it did, my faith wouldn't be shaken one bit. I'd just say "Huh, didn't expect that" as the Empire State Building falls on me (cause the end of the world is going to be intense like that).

And the Mayans don't exist anymore as far as I'm know.

The thing I don't get, is why if we know that it isn't going to happen, why are we discussing it? Isn't there better things to be taking about?

Would you still be faithful to God if foreign magi used astronomy and possibly astrology to track down the baby Jesus? God speaks to whoever he wills in whatever way he wishes; just because someone heard his voice doesn't mean the rest of what they taught is valid, though. Even if the Mayans turned out to be right, you don't need to replace your Bible with the Popul Vuh.

Exactly. So we don't know if it is in 2012, or if it isn't.
