In the RCC the Pope and extra-Biblical teachings supercede Scripture. For born-again Christians Scripture supercedes human teaching.

Re: What is the Difference Between The Roman Catholic Church & The Born Again Christi

When i was first going into College There were some Born Again Christian Groups that invited me to have a Youth FellowShip or Bible Study as they say, And the ive agreed to join them because i dont really have something to do at that time and im afraid that they would felt dissapointed if i said no to them or something. And then after that Ive started joining them on their Youth Fellowship/ Bible Study, Other Activities Etc. And then a week after that, A Roommate Of My ClassMate Which Is His Close Friend In His College Dorm invited us to join them in their Prayer Meeting That Wednesday Night and then For A Bible Study At Friday Night Following By A Sunrise Prayer Gathering Early At A Saturday Morning, A Youth Fellowship By Saturday Afternoon And Then A Sunday Bible Study Following Shortly By A Sunday Service Worship And After That We All Get Together For A Sunday Lunch :) :) After Eating Sunday Lunch with them ive stayed around for more couple of hours before leaving that Night To Attend The Catholic Mass or The Holy Eucharist That Night, I mean, I Know That It Sounds Akward And All But Is It Okay For A Roman Catholic Attendant To Attend A Sunday Worship Service In The Born Again Christian Community And Then Afterwards Attend The Roman Catholic Mass Or Holy Eucharist Afterwards But Still Participate In Activities And Agendas Of The Born Again Christian Community In The Entire Week Or Vice Versa? :) :) Thanks For The Reply Yall :) :)

I was a catholic for many years, raised by an Irish Catholic mother in the Catholic church. Went to Catholic school and received all the sacraments. We were taught to keep being good and pleasing God. Go to mass and work hard to keep God pleased. We never knew for sure if He was pleased so we kept hoping and trying.

Pray to Mary the mother of Jesus and pray to the saints. Jesus was not first and foremost. We went to confession and the priests were our mediators who we confessed our sins to every few weeks. We needed a priest to confess to, or our confession was not 'official' and God didn't hear us. We had to have that church priest or if we died with some sins that were not confessed called "venial sins" we would go to purgatory and our family and church would pray for us and maybe get us out., or if we had a mortal sin we could go straight to hell. So it was always working working working for God's approval by meeting all the rules of our church.

Later I found out that Jesus was the only go between/mediator between man and God., without Jesus I had no standing with God. No person on earth could speak for me before God. So I needed Jesus. What a panic I was in! My parents didn't teach me this and yet it was in the Bible. Also found out that Mary is not the mother of God she was Jesus earthly mother., and she was not a perpetual virgin but had other children!! No place in the Bible does it say to pray to Mary or the saints. There is no mention of purgatory in the Bible either or limbo...the place for babies... I was shocked.

God opened my heart up to the major differences of man's religion and what the Bible says about God and His Son Jesus and how to be acceptable to God. It is through the Son, Jesus Christ. He paid for our sins on the cross and we each need to accept Jesus personally for forgiveness of our sins. "God so loved us that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Man's religions are all the same, be a good person and try your hardest and God will see your heart and let you into heaven. But the Bible says there is nothing we can do to be acceptable to a holy God on our own, we need to accept Jesus Christ His Son and His sacrifice on the cross for payment of our sin. Without Jesus we are lost and headed to hell. With Jesus we are accepted into God's family and born again and given a new spirit., and He begins to teach us how to be like Him through the Bible., God's Word. We are now loved freely and don't have to work for God's approval because Jesus did it all., He gives us what is called "grace" un earned un merited love and favor. The Bible says that Moses gave the law, but grace and truth came by Jesus.

Jesus promises if we seek Him He will show us the truth. If you have not received Jesus as your Savior it doesn't matter what church you go to., you are lost. So the answer is to ask Jesus to save you because you are a sinner and need a Savoir. And He will!! :D He came to seek and to save those who are lost.

Re: What is the Difference Between The Roman Catholic Church & The Born Again Christi

The big difference is the Catholic Church believes their teachings and Doctrines have more Truth then the Scriptures from God. They believe when the Pope is speaking for God that what he says has more Truth then when God speaks to us in the Scriptures.

In Christianity God and His Scriptures have all the Truth, there are no other sources for the Truth.

In Catholicism Its the Pope and the Catholic Church that is the highest source for the Truth with God and His Scriptures coming in second.

Also the Catholic Church replaces women in the Scriptures with Mary. In Genesis where it talks about the Woman who fights against Satan, the Catholics claim that it is Mary is who God is talking about.

Basically the Catholic Church Worships Mary as their God.

Re: What is the Difference Between The Roman Catholic Church & The Born Again Christi

Actually, the Catholic and Protestant Churches believe about 90% alike! There's a lot of misinformation and fear here, but here's a link that provides 7 key differences in the two:

7 Key Differences Between Protestant and Catholic Doctrine - Mikel Del Rosario
Really the differences are quite dramatic when you come to understand that Romanism uses quite different definitions for the terms Christians use with regularity.

They speak of grace but understand it to be received through sacraments not simply by faith in Gods word.

They believe Gods word and historic traditions to be of equal value in understanding God.

The list is quite extensive and Romanists are very difficult to pin down on any one specific doctrine.

Do you know anything about the power struggle between the Vatican and the Jesuits?
