ya i know its goofy isn't it. the odd thing about the narrow gate is how it is like being invited to a wedding. everyone is getting the invitation, yet many do not rsvp. those who find the gate say, "hey, i'm bringing a few friends" seeing as the father of the groom is hosting the wedding he will decide. there is that enough weirdness?
most people do not find the gate because they are too caught up in the things of the world. they refuse to leave those things behind as they are called to the gate. many do not understand what is going on and ignore the call. there is a big difference between knowledge and faith. to make it through the gate, you have to let go of everything you think you know and follow with faith what you do know. its taking part in the greatest story ever told. saying i believe is far more relevant than most people accept.
i cant show you the gate, only Jesus can do that. all i can witness too is that its all very real and can be experienced, any day, by anyone, anywhere. i cant teach someone to have faith, Jesus can. the gospels are the example of faith we need to remember and imitate. that's something you have to do yourself, with the help of Jesus. the renewed mind is a spiritual gift of understand and love. it is something to be experienced. unconditional love is all consuming. it has us surrounded. its a very big net.
the narrow gate is given as example of the thief on the cross. i am guilty, Jesus is innocent, i deserve punishment, please remember me. could you follow that example with faith and be led by the spirit to put to death the sins of the flesh. deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow Jesus.
