Phil 4:8-9
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
KJV

Matt 28:19-20
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
KJV

For a brief moment, I thought this got me out of doing chores.

Nuts!

I really have to get this better, don't I? Chores are actually in there! :)

I agree with you totally Marc! It seems like we have forgotten to obey God's command to make disciples. To say nothing of how we are to think on good things, and do them!

Instead of fighting, why can't we talk about ways to evangelize the lost? We are all commanded to do it, not just missionaries or evangelists! In fact, although I totally believe in good doctrine, most people are not called to teach, they do not have the training or the knowledge of the Bible to discuss theological concepts.

I just pray we can all start to remember these two verses Marc posted, and maybe we can agree on some ways to win the lost to Christ.

Well...the only way anyone is won to the Christ is by the truth...faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God......the sad truth is that there is only once correct message about Christ, faith, grace and actually being born again....as long as there are as many (gospels) under the sun as there is flavored ice cream at Baskin Robbins there will be many who are made two fold the children of hell, division and contention.....I believe that 2nd Corinthian 6 and the context set in the first few verses which is "We then as workers together" sufficiently sets forth that Christ has no part with Belial and light and darkness cannot mix and a few other truths of like caliber which makes it very clear that ecumenical works will not be blessed and or allowed to prosper as a little leaven leavens the whole lump!

Thanks for the post.

I was thinking along the same lines this morning. The question to myself was, "What should a day in the life of a Christian be like?"

Marc,

such a thoughtful thread and one that should have been added to by many, at least it has given pause,
to those who are mindful of what they are truly doing with their time/lives, on a daily basis, for their
Lord and Master, Jesus Christ.

we may think in 1 of 2 ways; we can either be thinking 'carnally minded or spiritually minded'.
thought precedes action, if our mind is on 'worldly things' then we will be doing 'worldly things' -
if we think on Spiritual Things, we will be doing Spiritual Things.....no two ways about it,
we have to gird-up the loins of our minds and keep the prize of the high-calling in the forefront.

if we forget our High-Calling, we will definitely go to the 'low-calling', at least for a time.....

'Be not deceived, he who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil'...

in our daily thinking and actions, we have (2 black & white choices)...we can either think or act,
after the pattern of Christ, or we can think, act, after the pattern of satan...

as it is written,
Let this mind that is in you which was also in Christ Jesus...

as Paul has related to us, he fought the good fight of his Faith unto the end of his days -
and became a true 'over-comer/winner' in his love and dedication to the Lord and Master of us all.

From another post on here yesterday, I have come to worry what the bros think that higher calling is. Someone asked how he would know if something on his heart was God's will. Somehow that got into lessons about studying the Bible and praying. The dude was 55 years old. Exactly when does "study the bible and pray" turn into actually doing something? Too many seem inward, when serving God is mostly outward while mentally talking to God.

When I saw this post, it was about 4 PM, we had already gone grocery shopping, I was working on dishes, and then had more dishes, needed to water the garden and take a shower before dinner.

Those were the things on my mind, so I immediately thought, "Yeah! I should be studying or praying!"

Then lo and behold, God got through to me, and reminded me hubby needed a kitchen clean enough to make dinner in and the plants weren't living through two scorching days without some water. (Something about "you stink" in there too, but let's not get into that one. lol)

So, yeah, all thoughts are toward God and serving, but serving is washing dishes and watering plants.

In my life I have had mostly what others would call "menial work" -- office manager, bookkeeper, Assistant Maintenance Manager, office and house cleaner, and telemarketing. I never considered it menial, because someone had to do it for one purpose or another, so I was serving with the skills God gave me to serve. I helped people -- all my life.

And, when I got my money, I still had time to serve my family and the church. It's not all that difficult to do what Marc posted in all walks of life. It ain't getting done if anyone takes this down to "study God's word and pray." Those aren't passive activities to prepare to sit on our butts! Those are things to prepare our minds to go off and do something -- big or small. Out there or on this site.

And now I got to go do something that doesn't serve anyone but me -- go see my doctor. lol

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed--or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

yes, and to heal our wounded.
One way to heal them is to separate them from their contra-gospel doctrine.

Only the true gospel will save and heal.

Until the next day, when they were home and Jesus left. Someone had to do those dishes. lol
