We just hashed this all out in the "Should Christians Use Violence?" thread. Smiting one on the cheek was an insult and an invitation to a duel. Self defense is just common sense. Let's put it to bed.

Come to her defense... and if they backhand her to say, "you are lesser than me." You can tell them that they think too highly of themselves, and not high enough of others.

Common sense, yes human sense. As Christians are we not to deny ourselves and follow Jesus; which includes following his principles (sense)? Physical self defense clearly is not what Jesus taught, it's not vague or even questionable when His principles are studied without prejudice.

1 Corinthians 1:20-25...Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men...
