I've never understood what's so bad with cursing. Ultimately they are just words. I mean anyone could say a word is a curse word. I mean if you aren't being gross with those words what's wrong with them?

Assuming you're talking about swear words and not the hex type curse, here's my view. I don't see anything wrong with words in and of themselves; what matters is how they are used. For instance, if someone uses the f-word in conversation to emphasise a particualr point (eg. that's f-ing marvellous!) then I don't see anything wrong with that per se. It may be unwise in certain circles, but it is not offensive as it would be to venomously attack another's person but using non-swear words.

There is sometimes an over-reaction when people swear, I agree with Maddog that some swear words have developed to be used as a way to emphasize point rather than to offend or attack someone so people should keep an open mind about what someone is intending when they use a curse word.

I personally swear almost never because I make a point not to use language that might offend another person even if offense is not my intention, I'd rather just use a different word than risk a misunderstanding with someone.

But I do sometimes have a slip and get a look of disgust come my way from someone who finds the use of any curse word in any context completely unacceptable, and I find that kind of puritanical attitude a bit annoying because it assumes a bad intention on my part, which is not the case.

I can call someone a moron and be doing far more harm than I would by dropping an f-bomb over a stubbed toe or something. Bad words are only bad words because we make them bad. Still, it is good to watch what we say. When we are more careful of our words, we are really more careful of our thoughts, which is a good thing to practice.'

It really doesn't bother me that much when people use most curse words, but I certainly draw the line at the usage of the Lord's name in vain.

The Bible says to do things honorable in the sight of all men.

We are not to allow any unwholesome talk to come out of our mouths.

Our speech is to be with grace seasoned with salt.

Instead of asking each other what is right and wrong, seek God's wisdom. All curse words used in any
manner are wrong. Jesus said you worship Me with the same mouth that you spew out words of satan.
(Sumarization)

Christ never used those words so they are wrong. You just need to decide who you follow? Christ or satan?

One other thing, if we as God's Children are to set aside and different, living in this world but not
conforming to it, how will the world tell you are the Light of the world if you curse and talk like they
do?

If curse words are part of your talk, your heart is wrong in regard to Christ. Only good things should
come out of your mouth. Not the immoral words of the devil you feel are ok because the world has
influenced your understanding.

Christ didn't tell us to think what we want to or the world tells us to. Christ commanded us to be
different. Always controlling our thoughts and not just spouting off what we think is right. There
are many ways that seem right to a man but the way thereof is death.
Christ said What does Light have to do with darkness? Curse words are profane language which
Christ forbids.
Christ never asked us to decide what we think is right or wrong. He said do it His way. Its not open
for discussion.

I can see how a "so-called" Christian can use curse words. But I can't understand how anyone that knows
God or Christ could use words that are an abomination to God and see nothing wrong with the words.
Your words should praise God, not offend Him and make Him angry.

If you are given a heart of flesh you would understand, not just about curse words, but all kinds of wicked things that can come out of our mouth. What is in your heart comes out your mouth, examine your words and you can get a good idea the state your heart is in.

2 Corinthians 5:20
Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

The way you state it is that you use words to express certain negative emotions, unlike the "cursing" of yourself or a person to either insult or a bad wish. Cursing is bad because you allow yourself to act by emotion as an impulse and in a correspondent negative way. Think before you do.
Have you ever thought about that if you speak, either through cursing or just random 'bad' language, you expose not only yourself but also your parents that you have lacked the education and manners to speak properly?

I hope my answer is helpful for your question.

Mark 7:15
Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.'
Exodus 20:12
Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

I think when people swear its a little annoying. One of my friends her sister swears all the time when shes talking that you have to tell her to please don't swear she say the f word and all that but most of the time I think swearing is really annoying when I hear it all day long.

I agree I try to never use the word God in front of a curse word.
Even without curse words though, it is you intention behind it that puts the Lord's name in vain. I'm not saying you do, I just thought that it was a good picture.

I throughly agree with you; I am very confused.

"With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water." James 3:9-12

It's one thing to swear in private and another to swear in front of someone and possible offend them.. yes. But if those words are part of your natural vocabulary it is very easy for them to slip out when you don't intend them too. And that speaks volumes about your character to others. It is a much better thing for those words not to be in your head at all. God should be the one you worry about offending the most. He hears them no matter where you are.
