What would you do if your wife or child was being raped and strangled in front of you?
You do not know what the Lord will lead you to do until it happens. As it is, the bad guys have to be stupid to ignore you if you can actually do anything to stop that, and so a situation ethic like that may be unrealistic because you would be incapacitated before they do that in front of you.
Now if you come home to that, then anyone just sitting at that computer desk or wherever they are in reading this message, would say that they would fight back. How? Well, being an armchair quarterback would be easy but you really don't know what you would do when presented with a shocking and traumatic and provocative situation as that.
You think you would know... like.. no rules apply; two against one or whatever more... you cannot fight normally so you have to strike to blind or break the Adam's apple or maim to subdue multiple attackers, because you can't fight fair.
Oh sure.. a lot of people would say grab a gun and blow them away, but that is only an ideal situation, but hardly realistic since who comes home all the time with a gun in a holster or an M-16 or a bazooka?
And if it was a break in; what gun would not deter them away while another family member calls the police?
Your situation is a nightmare that would suggest that when done in front of you, then you are helpless to prevent it.
And when you are helpless to prevent it, what can a believer do, but pray?
So let us not boast about tomorrow when we are trusting the Lord for today. Stop imagining things that will provoke you to kill but rather imagine how the Lord would lead you away from temptations in according to His word to not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able by providing the escape.
James 4:[SUP]13 [/SUP]Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:[SUP]14 [/SUP]Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.[SUP]15 [/SUP]For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.[SUP]16 [/SUP]But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.[SUP]17 [/SUP]Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Since Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world, then we should trust Jesus to help us follow Him the christian way by trusting Him to take care of us rather than the American way, imagining the worst possible scenario that would tempt us to kill.
Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.[SUP]3 [/SUP]Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.[SUP]4 [/SUP]He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.[SUP]5 [/SUP]Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;[SUP]6 [/SUP]Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.[SUP]7 [/SUP]A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.[SUP]8 [/SUP]Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;[SUP]10 [/SUP]There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.[SUP]11 [/SUP]For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.[SUP]12 [/SUP]They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.[SUP]13 [/SUP]Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.[SUP]14 [/SUP]Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.[SUP]15 [/SUP]He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.[SUP]16 [/SUP]With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
I do not look to myself in having that hope in the Lord. I look to the Lord for that hope in Him as all I can do is trust Him for all things in walking me through this valley of death to fear no evil for He is with me... as the just shall live by faith.
