I hate what Satan is doing! He is using pleasure to get us to sin and to stay away from God.

My guilty pleasure: Twilight
I love the story and Edward is soooo the type of guy i want except the vampire part.
Why does satan have to play on our emotions like that? Why does he have to make sin so pleasurable? Not just Twilight but other sins as well? I hate it. Sometimes you have to look really hard to find the sin. Even non-sinful stuff can make you sin. EX: Watching tv all day, computer all day, anything all day that would distract you from God.

Sometimes I am jealous of the persecuted Christians in nations where their very lives are threatened. They have to depend of God for their next meal etc. They don't care about tv, etc. because they don't have any of that. Their lives are so threatened that they depend on God so fully with a relationship with Him that is so intense.

It is so hard to have that kind of intense relationship with God in a place like here in America. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful that I can go to walmart and have so many choices for food. However, there is so many choices of pleasure (sinful and non-sinful) to take up our time that is is hard to find time for God. I just hate it. I thank God for living in America but there are just so many temptations.

We all have so much to do that it even takes away our sleep. And most of it is something that is not even important like being on youtube, video games, and tv for hours on end (guilty). Even Godly things can distract us. There are so many books by godly people out there that reading them can be so tiring. They can help but even they can distract us from reading the Bible itself.

King Solomon said it best: Ecclesiastes 12:12 ...the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotions to books (insert whatever else here also) is wearing to the body.

Satan can use excessive devotions to stuff to lead us away from God... and it really does wear out the body. We have to be careful and not fall into the trap of worldy pleasures. Even 'doing the work of God' can distract us from having personal time with God.

I hate how evil Satan is!

Shad, a member here has given me a few scripture passages that have encouraged me greatly. This particular one really stood out to me:

The scripture that helped me the most was from 1John 5:20:
"And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know HIM WHO IS TRUE; and we are in HIM WHO IS TRUE, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the TRUE God and eternal life."

That verse speaks so much to me. When I can't see what is true anymore, I know that Jesus is Truth. He is the only thing that I can be really sure about. So even though I get confused, scared and blind to temptation; I know Christ is True even when I'm in the deepest of pits.

yeah the father of lies certianly has had plenty of time to cruize around and ensure that there is plenty of stuff for our eyez and hearts to be attracted to-funny thing is he tempts us and says stuff like "you know you want to, it wont hurt anyone and just a little bit god wont mind" then as soon as we have fallen into that temptation he flips it and says stuff like "who do you think you are, you bad sinner and god could never forgive you kinda thing-he is a punk
I think part of the journey is recognizing that satin is defeated-he was at the cross and our position in christ gives us authority especially when it comes to saying no to stuff-but we are in a war and it can be hard work and im pretty sure god knows how hard it is for us-we are his children after all-so we gotta keep asking him for help and do proverbs 16:3 and resist the devil daily so he will flee
