Many people describe themselves as one or the other without really understanding what they each mean, I did that when I was young before I understood more about politics and the defenition of various terms, I stumbled across this website a while ago and took the test, I didn't come out where I expected to but there were far worse places to be.

http://www.politicalcompass.org/index

http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

That said I am not in line with either liberal or conservative, my views don't conform to most eastablished standards within politics, which is why I have no allegiance to any currently active political party in the UK.

Interesting test. I recommend it!

Turns out....I'm not only a fascist but a filthy communist too!

Depends on the issue, but for the most part, I am a liberal.

On the Political Compass, I'm -3.98, -2.88.

I don't think that a Christian can fully label themselves either. There are views on both sides that are Biblical views, but also things on both sides that aren't Biblical views on issues. No matter who it is, there will always be politicians I don't agree with fully, so I always vote for the person who agrees with what I believe in the most, then I will look at their history to verify what they say about themselves, then I make the decision on who to vote for.

I don't really consider myself to be liberal or conservative, simply because my political philosophy falls outside of the realm of modern political alignment. I am technically a monarchist politically and a distributist economically. Some might label me conservative for certain peripheral aspects of my politics, but I don't think that's necessarily true for the reasons I've stated.

That said, I also think it's not a good idea to set a label for yourself and aspire to it. Rather, engage the truth of things, find out the best ways of doing things, adopt them, reflect on them. Then, as an afterthought, say that you are liberal, conservative, or whatever.

Conservative is by definition you mean a person who appeals to the authority of the scriptures for what he believes and teaches.
I would disagree. Conservative is a political designation. In modern American political parlance, what we call "conservative" and "liberal" have nothing to do with the Bible, but rather are more oriented toward which "wing" of the modern liberal democratic form of government you tend toward. Both conservatives and liberals in the contemporary usage are liberal, inasmuch as liberalism is a form of government oriented toward popular sovereignty and personal freedom. A person who appeals to the authority of the Scriptures for what he believes and teaches falls under a completely different realm; it is possible to do this and to be politically liberal or politically conservative.

Now, if you want to get into the proper terminology for where one falls in a religious spectrum, you run into language of "orthodox" or "heterodox." We could also talk about one's adherence to a particular tradition of praxis without respect to doctrinal orthodoxy. But it is not proper to say "liberal" or "conservative" in this context, since those are political designations.

I highly agree with this. No one likes an ideologue!

I can't tell you what rule 34 is in such a place.

but it exists, and there are no exceptions.
