For any Christian that has friends that aren't religious, are you sad that they are 'going to hell?'

Surely Heaven will be a less heavenly place with those special people from your life missing?

However, shouldn't you be rejoicing in God's ruling and thank him for his wisdom, after-all, he is perfect right?

It IS a sad thing to see that they are currently going to hell, but justice is justice and can't argue with God. It's all in God's will if they are saved later on.

People that go to heaven will not remember those that don't make it. For them to remember those that don't make it would cause grieving, which is saddness of which there is none of in heaven.

Those that go to hell WILL remember those that are not with them there but are in heaven. This is to increase the lonilness and angst of hell.

Luke 9:59-62 "And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

Luke 9:59-62..... Loyalty to Christ takes precedence over all lesser loyalties. The man was offering the excuse that he must care for his father until he died. The spiritually dead are to bury their own physically dead, but followers of Christ have the urgent task of proclaiming the good news of life in Him. This does not argue for insensitivity or disrespect with reference to the propriety of funerals. It is a lesson against procrastination. This should not be construed as a teaching on backsliding or losing one's salvation. Jesus focuses on the truth that service for His enterprise demands undivided attention. Is [not] fit for the kingdom of God means that halfhearted discipleship eliminates one from God's maximum use. This may be what Paul warns against in 1 Cor. 3:12-15.

I'm not sad if family and or friends end up in hell. That's their choice. My perogitive is correct that though, not to keep them from pain, but to further Soli Deo Gloria. Should not the lamb receive the reward of his suffering?

I don't want to be a Levite working for Ten Shekels and a Shirt.

I think maybe you have misunderstood what I said. I do ask that you explain what part of it is selfish, so that I can correct that.

Let me ask you this though; What is the reason for why we should bring others to Christ? To keep them from pain in hell?

I have a sermon for you from Paris Reidhead. It really changed my outlook.

You can choose either one.

At the idea that people in heaven will not be able to remember that there are people in hell...

Doesn't this idea disturb you a little bit? That you won't even be able to remember your beloved family and friends as they are in eternal agony? All so that your paradise in heaven can be a little bit more perfect while 98% of humanity suffers torture for centuries to eternity?

In complete honesty, this idea is disgusting to me. Even if I believed I was going to the heaven side of it. I don't understand how anyone could believe that is going to happen, and not be absolutely heartbroken, revolted and terrified.

I'm not sad if family and or friends end up in hell.
............... Have you ever loved anyone?

Nope.

Won't remember, so why would it matter? Sure, attempt to make humanistic appeals all you want, but it carries no weight with me.

All so that your paradise in heaven can be a little bit more perfect while 98% of humanity suffers torture for centuries to eternity?
I don't know that I would call heaven "paradise". Often when we as humans think of paradise, we think of some Hawaii beach scene. As far as 98% of humanity in hell, I don't know that I could put a number on the amount... It doesn't bother me though that they are in hell, as that is God's just wrath. The only thing that bothers me is that they resisted God long enough to get them there.

In complete honesty, this idea is disgusting to me.
Values-based judgement?

Even if I believed I was going to the heaven side of it. I don't understand how anyone could believe that is going to happen, and not be absolutely heartbroken, revolted and terrified.
You're an atheist. Of course you can't understand it. Most people who claim to be Christian don't understand it either.

Interesting question coming from an atheist. According to evolutionary biology/psychology, love is just a drug cocktail in the head. Namely Oxcytocin. Along with an affinity for proportional faces and a hip:waste ratio great for childbirth.

So shouldn't you re-phrase the question to accomodate evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology?

EDIT: Oh, and the only reason your mother loves you is because you are her genetic off-spring.

one word - desensitisation

The 'love' question seems to be taking an interesting turn, but I suspect trying to say how love and affection come about shouldn't detract from what you do about something you have love for.

umm...let me try to put this as easy as possible.

Jesus Christ is the Grace of God, the LOVE of God. The absolute Chance to be reconciled to God. he didnt HAVE to, but he LOVES you. Those IN Jesus, are the body of Christ. Gods children.

Those who reject Jesus, untill they loose all breath, belong to the Father of Lies. the evil one. GOd know the heart adn knows if someone WILL come to him, ad nhe gives us MANY MANY chances. Those who reject the love of God, those who reject Jesus, are slapping a pure white Holy God in the face, just to do what they want. therefore THEY are the body of Satan. there father is the Devil. They are the body of The devil. Those IN jesus, are the body of JEsus Christ, there fore they are children of GOD. Those IN satan are the body of Satan. If your not in Jesus. You ARE in Satan.

So The lake of Fire, (what the grave adn death will be thrown into...what we call HELL) is eternal, just like life in Christ is eternal. If YOU reject God. there is no more sacrifcie for your sin. no more. So those who are in "HELL" are those who are of the body of satan, and ALL of satan will be thrown into hell.

So, no its not Mean, or cruel. If someon killed your child. Remorseless. Wouldnt you want them to pay for doing that? Well satan, adn His body, Kills Jesus daily. They killed him first off, and they kill his body, which enrages God, and is what will bring the end of the World. Constant killing of Jesus. Those who cry out and pray, will bring the wrath of god. Anyway.

That said, it is HORRIBLY sad that my frinds and family DONT accept Jesus. But they have a chance to. as long as there is breath in them they have a chance. I recently started to pray that God would allow me to see things through Jesus eyes. That when Jesus is hurt, im hurt, that when Jesus is sad im sad. I prayed this becasue i did get a little cold as to the peopel suffering in this world. But, those that repeadedly hear the gospel adn arrogantly say that they dotn need ANYONE to be there master, are repededly wounding Jesus. that HURTS God the father. There is not respect or love for those people. Some do it out of Ignorance. But alot do it out of slefish desire, and arrogance and pride.

So thats why there IS hell. So since that is why there IS hell, and all peopel in hell are the body of satan. And all people in heaven are the body of Jesus. IS that going to be a "Sad thing"? Im honestly not sure. I have yet to make a disicion on that in my mind. To my worldly mind yes, but thats becasue im thinkign with flesh. to think like God for a moment. No. its not Sad. Its justice. its exactly what they deserve. So it wouldnt be sad, adn we wouldnt mourn them, so i think we WOULD know that they are in hell. its SATANS BODY. ASk God to show you just how hurt he is when peopl reject Jesus. its not jsut sadness, its watching peopel repeadedly kill his son.

If you REALLY care about your friends and family now. You will warn them about Hell. You will warn them to repent of there sisn, that HELL IS REAL and ALL who are apart of Satan will end up there. If you REALLY care about friends you will do everythign in your power to try and prevent them from going to hell. and THAT is only possible if YOU are righteous, if YOU are actively following Jesus. Which is only possible IN the spirit. If you are not warning EVERYONE you can, about Hell, and telling them what they need to do to avoid it, then you DONT love, and then YOU are breaking the commanments of Jesus/God.

It is a horrible thing to see what Satan is doing to this world. But people love darkness instead of Light. Jesus, God He said so, and he told us it was so. But WE as followers of Jesus, as Chidlren of God have a job to do. Spread the seed. Wake people up. its THERE choice if they want to reject Jesus. I hate seeing my friends and family reject Jesus. But they have Mercy NOW. May they wake up and receive that Mercy. DONT join the body of the evil one, that is the road to damnation. Join the body of the HOly one, Jesus christ, HE is the road to LIFE. and its NOT an easy road. it WILL bring you throuhg hardships, but thats becasue this life is about building scar tissue. making you soft yet durable. You WILL be whipped you WILL be chastised. You WILL be left alone on the road to Glory. But the End is Worth it. YOu WILL be made like the Son of the MOST High God. Seek HIM. Seek The KINGDOM OF GOD, becasue the Kingdom of this world is pereshing along wit hthe ruler of this world who is the Evil one. DONT be conformed any longer to this world. but throw it off, and put on Jesus. Be born again of the nature of GOD. And lean on Jesus in all things. he IS the dwelling place of the most high. he IS the firm foundation adn he WILL take all fear from you, adn establish you in himself. GOD LOVES US, God LOVES ALL, but God HATES SIN, adn all who choose sin adn self, adn pride over his son wil get what they choose.

Yes, I don't understand it, exactly. I was always extremely confused as to why the adults and other children didn't seem to be absolutely mortified by the concept of this place we were being taught about in Sunday school. Maybe I didn't understand somehow, or maybe they didn't understand, maybe they didn't comprehend what torture would be like for an eternity, but I did. At least that part, I can understand. But I guess I'm just not intelligent enough to understand that torturing the vast majority of humans for eternity is a good idea.

... Have you ever loved anyone?
Interesting question coming from an atheist. According to evolutionary biology/psychology, love is just a drug cocktail in the head. Namely Oxcytocin. Along with an affinity for proportional faces and a hip:waste ratio great for childbirth.
Interesting that you avoided answering it. A lot of what you're describing is sexual attraction, not so much love. And it being simply an occurrence of the physical brain doesn't diminish the effect of the emotion itself, and how you really should have some painful ones for anyone in such a fate.

Oh, and the only reason your mother loves you is because you are her genetic off-spring.
It doesn't matter that this is generally true, that's the cause for the love, doesn't make the actual feelings any less real.
And my mother hates me.

Doesn't this idea disturb you a little bit? Not at all. There can be no sorrow in heaven. To remember family and friends that went to hell would be to cause sorrow. That you won't even be able to remember your beloved family and friends as they are in eternal agony? IF you don't remember, then you will not grieve for them. ALL mankind will have a chance to accept Christ as Lord and Savior or not before they die. We are born to die, once and then the judgment. All so that your paradise in heaven can be a little bit more perfect while 98% of humanity suffers torture for centuries to eternity? You are barking up the wrong tree, friend. This is GOD's mandate and rules, not mine. He is a righteous God. He is fair in all that He does...even merciful and gracious without obligation. Even person has a choice to choose Him or not. If a person chooses to NOT choose Him, why should He choose them??

In complete honesty, this idea is disgusting to me. Even if I believed I was going to the heaven side of it. I don't understand how anyone could believe that is going to happen, and not be absolutely heartbroken, revolted and terrified. Which is WHY we teach and preach and pray...;so that others may come to know Him and enter into the Kingdom of Heaven and KNOW Him as Father.

Maggie

...the devils believe..and tremble. They believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God...and yet they are going to hell. There are many people that 'believe that Christ is the Son of God, but they have not entered into relationship with Him and do not know Him personally.

How can you see ANYONE you know in hell? My heaven is as Jesus said it is. All men BORN of water and spirit are saved. The word of God lights EVERY MAN that COMES INTO THE WORLD. Jesus said that many choose the path of the destruction to enter in and it is but few that find the true path to life. Does this mean that only a few out of the BILLIONS of people that has ever lived will burn forever? HOW? Does not that SAME Bible also state that it is the heart of a man that plans his PATH but it is the LORD that directs his steps? The bible says in Rev. that death and hell are cast into the lake of fire then those who were not found in the Lamb's book of life. So if I lived 100 good years of doing what the world considers evil all of my days, die with a smile of satisfaction on my face in doing all of the evil I can; I will be revived only to FINALLY SEE THE TRUTH, told I did very bad and after death and hell are thrown in (I guess to show me how it will feel) before I'm thrown in for an ETERNITY? How can I die if death and hell are already there BEFORE me?

If Satan is a spirit, how will he die? Is HELL and DEATH spirits or men? If neither, then how were they cast into the fire?

Last, but in no way least, if those that were cast in that were not in the lambs book of life after death, am I now eternally suffering for what I did in only 100 years? A DAY with the Lord is as a 1000 YEARS! How severe the punishment for me who was but a couple of hours at best out of His day. Plus we should not forget that again, the Word lights up EVERY MAN THAT COMES INTO THE WORLD.

Matthew 22.37 NRSV

Jesus said the Greatest Commandments are "to love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind...and to love your neighbor as yourself"

If Jesus said one of the greatest commandments was to love thy neighbor as yourself..

If YOU would never want to be in hell for eternity...then you shouldn't want it for any one of your neighbors (anybody)...if you love them, (as we are called to do...) then there is no way you won't feel sorrow for anyone that isn't saved, and may end up in hell for eternity...

Every time I speak to a friend that isn't saved...it breaks my heart knowing that if they don't wake up they may spend eternity in hell....

Is it just? yes...

Does it make sense? yes...

Does it make me sad? yes.... (because I love them, as we are called to do as christians)

What disturbs me is that 98% of humanity will choose eternity in hell over God and Jesus Christ...and will praise men and not God, idolize men and not God, idolize the tools of satan instead of God, mock, deny and hate God...

In complete honesty, this idea is disgusting to me. Even if I believed I was going to the heaven side of it. I don't understand how anyone could believe that is going to happen, and not be absolutely heartbroken, revolted and terrified.

I am heartbroken for God, because so many of his children will be lost...i am revolted by how many people openly mock God and Jesus....and I'm terrified for what awaits anyone that isn't saved....

I know you don't believe in God...but try and look at this whole thing from his point of view....might give you a different perspective...

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life....

No one chooses hell, they don't believe that it exists. I don't hate god, I simply don't believe that he exists. I idolize the tools of satan in no way. I love humans I don't "idolize" them. And the same applies for millions of others just like me. We're not choosing hell and we're not evil, and yet you believe that we deserve eternal torture anyways. No one chooses eternal torture, they're not even aware that the choice even exists, or they were born Muslims and thought their god was real, there are numerous reasons why someone wouldn't believe in the Christian god and none of them qualify as choosing hell.

I am heartbroken for God, because so many of his children will be lost...i am revolted by how many people openly mock God and Jesus....and I'm terrified for what awaits anyone that isn't saved...
If children are naughty and misbehave, or even mock their parent, there are better ways to discipline than dragging them into the basement and beating them for the rest of their (eternal) lives. Child abuse is sick and evil, yet we're children compared to god, and he's allowed to torture us for eternity because of a few mistakes we made?

I know you don't believe in God...but try and look at this whole thing from his point of view....might give you a different perspective...
OK, well from his perspective... And I don't think this reflects reality, but under the pretense that your whole faith is correct... As God the father I see my daughter (who would be the non-hypothetical me) who believes that I do not exist, I've never shown myself to her though. She is genuinely trying to live as a good person and support/be kind to others. Judgement day comes. I see my daughter now, trembling and terrified... Is this the part where I'm supposed to send her to hell to be in the worst imaginable agony forever? Because it's not. The idea of doing that to anyone, even Hitler, is just gut-wrenchingly tear-inducingly abhorrent. Especially when I'm an all powerful being who can do literally anything I want. I'd actually just hug her and tell her she doesn't have to be afraid, because her father loves his children.

There's my "god's perspective" and no matter which way you look at it, torturing any being that can feel pain for eternity is disgusting, the concept of it makes me sick to my stomach. It cannot be justified, to put someone through pain like that. God is supposed to love, heal, and forgive, not create eternal torture chambers for all his children who can't bring themselves to believe he exists. Do you see how ridiculous it is from his perspective, a being that can do literally anything, having created such a horrible place and sending so many people he supposedly loves there? Why did he ever create hell in the first place?
