Developing a secret history with God in the secret place is extremely vital if you are to be able to navigate through the Christian life. We need those places in scripture that you can go to in times of crisis where the Lord has spoken to you before. Without these times where the Lord speaks to us in His Word during our secret times with God, we can't correctly navigate through life. This video says it much better than I can:
