How can I show genuine brotherly love to my brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ who need help?
Lately I’ve been reading 1 John, 2, John and 3 John.
The letters were written to the Church which obviously had trouble in loving fellow people within the Church and allowing outsiders to come in and take advantage of it.
No doubt about it. Loving Christians that you need to see when you go to Church is hard when asked to go beyond normal socialising. Some may have nowhere to live. They could be struggling with certain sins that irritate you. They could also not want to love people the way you think they should.
The list is endless as we go deeper into getting to know people who like us love Jesus or are learning to love him.
Sometimes we don’t know what to do so we pray for them.
Sometimes we need to separate ourselves from new believers that are still enslaved to a sinful life.
However we can also make up many excuses not to help fellow believers who need help.
I’ll make this simple. If you see a fellow believer that you know lives for Christ in urgent need and don’t help them then you don’t know Christ.
That John's message summed up in sentence.
Not only are we called to help non-believers in the community with good deeds but also our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Food, clothing, shelter, jobs, genuine friendship and real love should all be on the table.
Because of the world we live in many people will try to take advantage of this who are not real believers.
We are still called to help them in some way but those Christ has put in our face and in our congregation can’t be left to fend for themselves.
They have moved from death into life and are like us.
Who has Christ put on your heart lately to bring into your inner circle face to face and love like your own family member who is asking for help?
Don’t do it on your own but allow others to help you carry the burden who also love Christ.
Blessings.
